HOLY HOUR | Will be held on Thursday at 6.00 pm. All are welcome.

If you would like to stay on for a bite to

eat afterwards please bring a plate. If you have not been to one of these before perhaps now is a time to try
it out. We say Evening Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and then have a time of quiet prayer (with some
prayers and meditations read by Fr Philip to help with this, as well as some music). The service concludes
with Benediction, when we are blessed with the Blessed Sacrament. We will be celebrating the Sacred Heart
of Jesus, as Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. We are blessed to have a wonderful carved image of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus on the wall near the statue of Our Lady.
SILVER JUBILEE | Father Philip will celebrate his 25 years of
ordination as a priest on Wednesday 5th July. There will be a Solemn
Mass at 7.00 pm at which Bishop Lindsay Urwin will preach.
Champagne and nibbles will follow. All are welcome.
STUDY GROUP | One of the suggestions raised for our parish was a
Bible Study Group. Instead of having a regular one every week, Fr
Philip proposes to run a set of groups through the year. The first
series will run for four weeks starting on Monday 26th June. It will
begin at 12 Noon with the short office of mid-day prayer. This initial
series will be a course with short video talks by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, on Getting
more out of the Bible. Bring some sandwiches if you like. The session will be over between 1.15 and 1.30
pm. Please speak to Fr Philip and let him know if you are interested in coming along. The Archbishop offers 3
lectures to help us. Stephen Lyon, leader of a project called The Bible in the Life of the Church offers a
fourth. Their titles are: Approaching Scripture | Scripture in Worship | Studying Scripture | Encountering
Scripture. This course is ideal for people who are new to the Bible, as well as those who know the Bible well
but are looking for inspiration and resources.
