The Words of Your Mouth

We must learn to control our tongue and use it for blessing and
not for evil. These scriptures reveal what God’s attitude is
concerning our words we speak.

Ps 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of
my lips.

Ps 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be

acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.

Ps 17:3 I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Ps 39:1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I
will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

Ps 50:23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his
conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.

Mt 12:34 Out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart the mouth speaks.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings (flings) forth
good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil
things.
36 But I say unto you, that every idle (inoperative, non-working) word that
men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of
judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be
condemned.

Mt 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all (do not bind yourself by an
oath), neither by heaven, for it is God's throne:
35 Nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; neither by Jerusalem, for it is the
city of the great King.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make
one hair white or black.
37 But let your communication be "yea, yea; nay, nay"; for whatsoever is
more than these cometh of evil (comes from the evil one).

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but
only that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister
grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:29 (Amplified) Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word, nor
unwholesome or worthless talk ever come out of your mouth; but
only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress
of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a
blessing and give grace (God's favor) to those who hear it.

Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Eph 5:4 (Amp) Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish
and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not
fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness to God.
foolish talking = silly, idle talk; randomness of conversation; lack of
forethought and wisdom; useless talk; folly; no taking account of
words; a sign of nearsightedness and unlearned as to the value and
significance of words; ridicule. Every word you speak is used!
jesting = that which turns easily; has a sense of versatility; easily turns and
adapts to moods and conditions of those you are dealing with;
polished and witty speech used as an instrument of sin to cut down
others; without flavor of Christian grace; a sly question; a smart
answer; tart irony; mockery, shrewd imitation; bold scheme of
speech; acute nonsense; hidden in language; sarcasm. ("The little
foxes spoil the vine".)

Col 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that
you may know how you ought to answer every man.

Mt 15:11 ...that which comes out of the mouth defiles a man.

“Make sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear.”

Jms 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear,
slow to speak, slow to wrath.

Jms 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and he bridles
(controls) not his tongue, but deceives his own heart (inner man),
this man's religion is vain.

Jms 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word,
the same is a perfect man (a mature, fully developed character), and
able also to bridle (control) the whole body (and curb his entire
nature).
3 Behold, we put bits in horses mouths that they may obey us; and we turn
about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of
fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm
(rudder), whithersoever the governor (captain) determines.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold
how great a matter a little fire kindles! (the tongue is kindling).
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our
members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course
of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (Consider this: so is the tongue
among our members of the Body of Christ, that it defiles (is
contagious to) the whole body of believers. Have you ever noticed
how foolish talking is contagious?)
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in
the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly (undisciplined, restless)
evil, full of deadly poison. [However... Pr 16:23 – The heart of the
wise (full of the Holy Spirit and the Word) teaches his mouth, and
adds learning to his lips.]
9 Therewith we bless God, even the Father; and therewith we curse men,
which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren,
these things ought not to be so.
11 Does a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 ...so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Jms 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaks evil of
his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and
judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the
law, but a judge. Grudge not one against another brethren, lest you
be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.
Amp ver. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you
yourselves may not be judged.

Jms 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven,
neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be
yea; and your nay, nay; lest you fall into (under) condemnation.

Pr 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate...the froward mouth.

Pr 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Pr 4:24 Put away from thee a froward (disobedient, contrary) mouth, and
perverse lips put far from thee.

Pr 6:2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken
(captive) with the words of your mouth. (Snared by good words as
well as bad.)

Pr 6:16 These six things does the Lord hate: yea, seven are an
abomination unto Him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running
to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaks lies, and he that soweth discord among
brethren (gossip). (NOTE: 3 out of 7 deals with the tongue)

Pr 10:11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life.

13 In the lips of him that has understanding wisdom is found.
Pr 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth (lacks) not sin: but he
that refrains his lips is wise. (Some people talk so much it seems
they have a Bionic Mouth.)

Pr 11:12 A man of understanding holds his peace

12:18 There is he that speaks like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue
of the wise is health (brings healing).
14:23 In all labor there is profit: but the (idle) talk of the lips tends only to
poverty.
15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness (willful
contrariness) therein is a breach (cut) in the spirit.
18:6 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth invites a beating.
18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his
soul.
18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the
innermost parts of the belly.
18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it
shall eat the fruit thereof.
21:23 Whoso keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from
troubles.

Eccl 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more
ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider
not that they do evil.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any
thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth:
therefore let thy words be few.
3 For a dream cometh through a multitude of business; and a fool's voice
is known by multitude of words
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no
pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldst not vow, than that thou shouldst vow and
not pay.
6 Suffer not (permit not) thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say
thou before the angel, that "it was an error". ("I didn't mean it"):
wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of
thine hands?
7 For in the multitude of many words there are divers (various) vanities:
but fear thou God. (but as for you, fear God.)
2 Tim 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a
vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet (fit) for the Master's use,
and prepared unto every good work. What are "these"?:
2 Tim 2:14 ...striving about words to no profit, which subvert the hearers.
16 profane and vain babblings which is ungodliness
17 evil words which eat as does a cancer and that subvert and cause
doubt.
18 lies, false teaching
22 youthful lusts
23 foolish and unlearned questions which gender strife
Get rid of your bad words in order that "you may recover yourself out of the
snare of the devil, who (you) are taken captive (Pr 6:2) by him (devil)
at his will."

Ps 119:11 Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against
thee.

The Positive Aspect Of Your Words

Is 50:4 The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I
should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He
wakens me morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as the
learned.
5 The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither
turned away back.

Jn 6:63 It is the spirit that quickens (gives life); the flesh profits nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

1 Pt 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles (utterances) of
God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God
gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to
Whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Mk 11:22 Jesus said, Have the faith of God." (Greek). vs 23 tells you how:
23 Verily, verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this
mountain (this problem), Be thou removed and be thou cast into the
sea (faith command), and shall not doubt in his heart (that those
things which he saith shall come to pass), but shall believe (in his
heart) that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall
have whatsoever he saith!
The practical illustration of the God kind of faith is given us in Genesis
Ch 1. God SAID, "Let there be light" and "God saw". The God kind
of faith says it and sees it.
1 Sam 3:19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let
none of his words fall to the ground.
Mk 11:23 ...but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to
pass...
Do not say anything that you do not want to come to pass. We should be
able to believe that whatever we say will come to pass; no idle
words, no words void of power and truth, so God won't let any of
your words fall to the ground.

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto
thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Ps 107:20 He sent His WORD, and healed them and delivered them from
their destructions.

Jn 3:34 For since He whom God has sent speaks (only) the words of God
- proclaims God's own message - God does not give Him His Spirit
sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His
Spirit.

1 Tim 4:12 ...be thou an example of the believers in speech and in your
behavior...

Mt 9:6 But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to
forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, take up
thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which
had given such power unto men.
Jesus didn't touch him. How was this power released? The power was
released through His words. There is Life in the power of the
tongue.
Pr 18:21. The power is in my tongue.
