PROJECT TITLE *

Breaking the Code

Project Type *

Community Arts project

PROJECT SUMMARY * 0/150 (Words)

Please provide a short description of your project. Keep it simple and jargon-free.

Schools in the project, having visited Bletchley Park, will be able to select a final
focus for their area of the project. We will then utilize our partners in STEM areas,
such as those in Science Oxford or STEM ambassadors in Hampshire, to inform
students of key knowledge and content. This information will then be consolidated
through an arts-focused project (alongside our Arts partners) with a particular focus
on film, drama, dance, music and photography. The final goal of this project will be a
multimedia project to showcase at the end of the autumn term.

KEY ELEMENTS * 0/150 (Words)

What key elements will engage the audience with this experience? Please give a bullet
point list of 3-5 specific features that explain what your audience will be doing? (e.g.
follow a story, explore an archive, share with friends).

In particular, we will utilize dance, drama and music workshops to engage the schools
in the project.

Drama workshops will focus on concepts such as body propping to create a crime
scene in order to involve students with the context of forensic science against the
background of the story they have engaged with in previous workshops

Dance workshops will go deeper into the technicalities of DNA by studying the
movement of genetics within the body and increase students awareness and personal
understanding of biological factors in forensic science

DISTINCTIVENESS * 0/100 (Words)

What single element makes this project stand out from the crowd?

Our bespoke and innovative workshops will engage students with both the arts and
STEM as a combination and begin to challenge the idea that the two fields are
polarized. By confirming scientific understanding through use of artistic devices, we
aim to assist students in striving for excellence and developing their understanding
and confidence in both segments of education.

OBJECTIVES * 0/150 (Words)

What are your main objectives for this project?

To create a bespoke interdisciplinary project that collaborates across partnership

schools, enriching students arts experiences

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE*0/150 (Words)

Give a short summary of relevant experience or a link to a portfolio or biography

Having previously assisted local community arts projects, such as Larkmead Schools
The Big Weave (2015) and the 2016 Telling Stories project. Arts Ensemble have
experience with a range of different projects with a variety of different target
audiences and outcomes. As a company, we are known for creating bespoke and
innovative workshops for a diverse client base that engages the community in the arts
and with each other.

We are now looking to expand our outreach with a younger client base and network
with relevant local organisations. With the team expanding, there are now members
involved with a history and talent for connecting with and engaging children;
particularly with those who are vulnerable or facing an unstable future.

Arts Ensemble enjoy working with and bringing together communities to create
something breath-taking and magical.
