PROBABLE CAUSE AFFIDAVIT CASE NUMBER: 2017-13645 THE STATE OF TEXAS )( COUNTY OF JEFFERS: ON The undersigned Affiant, being a Peace Officer under the laws of Texas and being duly sworn, on ‘ath makes the following statements and accusations: My name is BE 1 am a Black male, 45 years of age. My date of birth is 1am employed by the Beaumont Police Department and have been for the past 14 years. Tam currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective. 1, IT IS THE BELIEF OF THIS AFFIANT, AND HE HEREBY CHARGES AND ACCUSES THAT, Jared Javon Bias, b/m dob: 12/30/94 of| Beaumont, TX 77703, has committed the offense of Capital Murder, 19.03 PC, a I* Degree Felony, that occurred on or about the 6" day of June 2017, in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. 2. AFFIANT HAS PROBABLE CAUSE FOR SAID BELIEF BY REASON OF THE FOLLOWING FACTS: On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at about 0151 a.m., Officers of the Beaumont Police Department were dispatched to the Sienna Trails Apartments located at 6155 Sienna Trails Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, in reference to a victim of a shooting. Upon officers’ arrival, they located the victim, Kera Teel (W/F; DOB - 03/10/98), suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to her body. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died, The victim was pregnant at the time of the shooting, and while the medical staff was attempting to save the child, the child who was later named Kyndal Jae Teel, died moments later. Preliminary autopsy reports performed on Kera shows she died as a result of the gunshot wounds, while Kyndal’s autopsy report, shows she died as a result of her mother dying. Both autopsies are being ruled as Homicides. Affiant received information that a subject, Atayanna Douglas (B/F; DOB - 08/03/99), was involved in the shooting robbery of the victim. Douglas was interviewed by investigators with her attorney present and gave investigators a statement against her penal interests. During the interview, Douglas provided details of the shooting robbery that only a person who was present at the time of the shooting would know. Douglas provided investigators with the names of three other subjects involved in the shooting robbery, one of them being defendant, Jared Bias (DOB - 12/30/94). Affiant positively identified defendant Bias as the person who shot and Killed Teel. Affiant was able to corroborate defendant Bias’ whereabouts at the time of the homicides, which was in close proximity of 6155 Sienna Trails.
