SAFETY PLAN
INTRODUCTION:
UTRACON provides and establishes safe working practices at all work sites. Both Staff
and Workers to follow these safety requirements are compulsory and shall be fully
understood.
Some discrepancies may arise between these requirements and Law / Practices
depends upon the site location and nature of work. Further, some additional
requirements also can come up.
Safety Policy
UTRACONS Safety Policy is to conduct its construction activities with safety that they
require and safeguard its manpower and material from potential risks and also gain the
clients full satisfaction in performing expected safety norms in a reliable and safe way.
We value training, information and communication as essential elements in meeting
safety objectives. All level on the job training will be provided to key workers as well as
channels of communication at every level in the organization to create safe working
environment.
The Project Work Plan, material storage and handling, placement of construction
equipments, location of fabrication yard, electrical installations (sub switch board etc.,)
medical and welfare facilities shall be made by UTRACON prior to commencement of the
work and ensure implementation of the same.
Safety rules
General
Water supply, Electricity connections and other temporary facilities provided by the main
contractor shall be in accordance with legal and contractual requirements and shall be
reinstalled under proper supervision.
Electrical work shall be undertaken only by qualified persons familiar with the electrical
installations.

SAFETY PLAN
Head Protection:
Except in offices all personnel are must to wear hats that are in safe condition and meet
the applicable standards or available industry standards. The hat shall be worn properly,
i.e., brim to front.
Leg Protection:
All personnel engaged in the construction activity shall wear the safety shoe during all
the construction operations.
Eye and face additional (mask) and / or alternative protection must be available and
used whenever machines or operations present potential eye and face injuries from
physical, chemical or radiation risk. Example includes: Grouting, Grinding, Welding,
Cutting, Burning, Use of chemicals, acids, admixtures etc.
ELECTRICAL:
General
Electrical cables running across walkways, roads etc. shall be secured properly against
damage or shall be suspended at least 2 meters in height. All electrical cables must
confirm with applicable rules and regulations.
Regular Checking shall be must in all electrical cables, boxes power tools and other
equipments.
All the switches, through which electric energy may be supplied to the particular section
of line or equipment to be worked, shall be de-energized.
The Project Manager / Engineer-in-charge shall provide training or require that all
employees are knowledgeable in:

Electrical cables:
Each cord set, attached cap plug and receptacle of cord sets and any equipment
connected by cord and plug, except cord sets and receptacles which are fixed and not
exposed to damage, shall be visually inspected before each days use for external
defects, such as deformed or missing pins or insulation damage and or indication of
possible internal damage. Equipment found damaged or defective may not be used until
repaired.
All electrical equipment and hand power tools shall comply with the applicable rules and
regulations.
Construction contractor furnished tools and equipments are subjected to inspection for
compliance with the applicable safety requirements. This inspection does not relieve
construction contractor of his responsibility for the safe functioning of his tools and
equipment.
The safe design limit of any tool or item of equipment shall not exceed. Tools are
equipment shall not be modified in any manner that decreases the original safety margin.
All construction contractor owned, leased or rented tools and equipment shall be in safe
working condition, well maintained, duly protected against climatic influences and
certified when required at all times.
Machinery, tools and equipment shall not be operated without all guards and safety
devices in place and functioning properly. All removable items of apparatus, such as cog
wheels, strings, chains, couplings, belt drivers etc., shall be sufficiently protected with
guards.
All tools shall be made inoperative before executing any repair work or before tooling up.
Machines in operations shall have capable supervision and required safety devices.
Concrete surfaces, working platforms etc., shall be protected against damage from
escaping oil, overflow grout and / or fuel from equipments.

STRESSING
Ensure all Jacks & Hydraulic connections are leak proof. The hydraulic hoses connecting
the pump and stressing jack shall be periodically inspected for any loss or damage to its
surface.
Ensure all pressure gauges & jacks are calibrated properly at regular intervals and
record available on site.
Proper instruction of stressing with a caution sign is kept at the location of stressing and
de-stressing.
Ensure that trained personal shall only operate the pressure pumps. The jacks shall be
handled properly to avoid any loss or damage during handling.
GROUTING
Since any mistake in the operations of grouting can endanger life and limb of persons,
only trained and experienced personnel shall be entrusted with carrying out these
operations.
Personnel shall wear safety shoes, helmet and gloves during grouting operations.
All personnel engaged in operations where the danger of grout spray is present e.g.
Mixing Grout should wear protective eyeglasses.
If the grout enters into the eyes, it should be washed out with clean water and the patient
to be taken immediately to an eye Doctor.
Grouting hose connections shall be checked periodically before grouting for any signs of
damage.
