Thousands of valentines are written to Juliet each year in Verona. In the stories Romeo
and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Pyramus and Thisbe by Ovid, they both show
unconditional love to a complete stranger. This love brought happiness to them but at the same
time caused them great tragedy. The way these two couples show their love is very heartfelt.
Love is found in literature by stating that love is more powerful than death. Romeo and Juliets
boundless love show how pain, happiness, and tragedy led to an unfaithful upcome.
Love gives people so many interesting feelings that its hard to pinpoint one. However,
one aspect is the agony and hurting of love because it is pain that causes it to make love, love. In
the text Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, it essentially tells how two people fell in
love without really knowing each other besides where they came from and eventually end up on
Nurse. His name is Romeo, and a Montague, The only son of your great enemy.
Juliet. My only love, sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and too late!
Readers understand that both Romeo and Juliet truly loved each other and that they were
forbidden to be together because of where they came from, which led both their families to
immense tragedy. This example explains how love can be entangled in hardships, misfortune or
struggles. This reveals how much they loved each other for them to kill themselves because of

one another. On a similar note, their love also caused great pain. The way the two shared their
love also gave the audience a grasp of how strong their love was.
Pain also takes part in the love and affection two people share. In the text Pyramus and
Thisbe by Ovid, shares the same idea of what Romeo and Juliet went through, but instead they
didn't get married nor did they meet in person. The author points out , And when he had found
the bloodstained shawl, he cried: Now this same night will see two lovers lose their lives: she
was the one more worthy of long life: it is I who bear the guilt for this (P.6). To better
understand this position, readers learn here that Pyramus and Thisbe planned to meet at a white
berry tree which he thought she got eaten by the lioness and kills himself, but turns out it was her
red shawl. Thisbe then found Pyramus dead body under the tree and later on killed herself too.
This brings out the fact that both lovers sacrificed their life for one another. In the text said by
Romeo, Heres to my love [drinks] O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I
die. [Falls] (V.iii.119-120). This example explains how Romeo thought Juliet was dead, so he
drank poison that Balthasar sold to him. The pain they went through is only a small part of love.
Furthermore, when someone thinks of love, they would clearly think about happiness, affection,
or even the desire of whom this love is to. Even if love is sorrowful it will always end happier
Other than the hate, regret, and the aching of love, there is definitely another alternative
meaning than that. The article, Essay on Love is the basic of Happy Life sums up the
explanation of how love is truly the basic of happy life and that some people might not have that
happy life while some people do. The text states It is love that makes man happy. It is love

between children and parents, wife and husband, brother and sister, lover and his beloved, the
teacher and the student and the master and the servant. It is a love between neighbors and
between friends. It is love between man and God. (Rajkoomar). This example explains how it is
love that creates the contentment for people and also the desire of love. This displays how the
emotion and the affection people take part in is called love which is filled with happiness and the
desire to be with that person for every second of the day. In relation to this, Romeo and Juliet
also went through the pain of not being together and the happiness of when they were together.
Therefore love can bring pain and joy because of how both Pyramus and Thisbe loved each
other, but at the same time they also felt the pain of their deaths and the rejection of them being
together. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Nurse said Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence
cell; There stays husband to make you a wife. This quote shows that Romeo and Juliet are
secretly getting married. This reveals that because they are getting married secretly, means that
their parents won't accept their marriage so they had to do it on their own time. The pain the two
share is barely half of what love is because it is the happiness and bliss that makes it up.
Although Romeo and Juliets love is limitless, they still went through the aching of not
being with each other along with the hurting and grief of their death. The fact that the two
couples just met and automatically fell for each other shows that their love was just because of
appearances and lust. This blinding love that Romeo and Juliet had is too selfish of them, which
