Iraj Roger Lashgari

February 15, 1939 - June 12, 2017
Iraj Roger Lashgari was the son of Golam Reza Lashgari
and Fakhiran Garanmahe. Born on February 15, 1939
in Iran, he moved to the United States in 1957. After
graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree
in electrical engineering, Iraj met Donna Sue Reed in 1971.
Iraj and Donna married in February 1973 and soon
started a beautiful family. In addition to their sons Arya
(married to Liz) and Audie and daughter Kimya (married
to Peter), over the years, Iraj helped raise his nephews
Shahriar (married to Martha) and Shahram (married to
Sepideh), and nieces Katayun (married to Bahman) and Kerishmeh, each of whom he
loved as his own. Whether he was coaching soccer or leading Boy Scout troops, Iraj
was proud to support his childrens interests in any way possible.
In 2000, Iraj retired from Hewlett Packard after 29 years of service, providing
him an opportunity to enjoy lifes simple pleasures: playing golf, traveling the world
with Donna, and spending time with four beautiful grandchildren that adored their
Baba: Jessica (7), Wyatt (4), Hunter (3), and Reese (1). He treasured the time he
spent on a daily basis with his beloved family members and many close friends.
Iraj passed on Monday, June 12, 2017, at his home in Redwood City. Services
to celebrate his extraordinary life will be held at Faz Restaurant in Sunnyvale, on
Monday, June 19, 2017 beginning at 6 pm. His adored sisters Soroya and Sima, his
sister-in-law Malak, and nephew Sepehr will host a separate celebration in Tehran.

Mattis has settled on a plan to send almost 4,000 more

Another option is to hold off on the troop numbers until the
new strategy is ready, which Mattis has said would be in July.
White said in a written statement that any decision about
troop numbers will be made only after consultations with
other U.S. government agencies, NATO allies and

Anger erupts in London over towers feared renovation flaws
By Danica Kirka
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LONDON Grief turned to outrage Friday over a deadly

high-rise tower fire in London amid reports that materials
used in the buildings renovation could have fueled the
inferno that left dozens dead and missing as it decimated the
public housing block.
Engineering experts say outside insulation panels
installed on the 24-story Grenfell Tower may have helped
the fire spread rapidly from one floor to the next. The
Guardian newspaper reported Friday that contractors
installed a cheaper, less flame-resistant type of paneling in
the renovation that ended in May 2016.
Tensions were high Friday two days after the overnight
fire gutted the huge housing block, killing at least 30 peo-
ple and leaving dozens missing and hundreds homeless.
Scuffles broke out near the Kensington and Chelsea town
hall offices as demonstrators chanting We want justice!
surged toward the doors.

tal.
The Grenfell Tower housed some 600 people in 120 apart-
ments. Britains Press Association reported that some 70
people are still missing after the fire, based on verified
reports.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said people were frustrated by
the lack of information about the missing and the dead as
well as a lack of coordination between relief and support
services. Residents of the tower who survived the blaze lost
everything and have no idea where they are going to live or
how they will get back on their feet.
The scale of this tragedy is clearly proving too much for
the local authority to cope with on their own, Khan said in
an open letter to Prime Minister Theresa May.
After meeting with Grenville survivors on Friday, May
announced a 5 million pound ($6.4 million) fund to help
them and expressed sorrow for their plight.
