If you answered b you are correct. This might be considered plagiarism because the student has not
cited the source of the statistic used.

The other options:

a) This is not plagiarism because it references the source of the information.

c) This is not plagiarism because the student has cited the source and page number of the exact
quote.

d) This is not plagiarism necessarily because the student may have simply observed this from their
own experience.

Question Two:

The correct answer is c. These are the three important elements of correct referencing of quotes:
quotation marks around an exact quote, an in-text reference, and a listing in the reference list.

The other options:

a) No, you must also cite the quote within the actual essay, not just in the reference list.

b) No, you must write the quote exactly as the original author phrased it, and then place the quote
inside quotation marks.

Question 3

The answer was TRUE. You also have a partial responsibility in this case. Even though you did not
