A special welcome to today, especially if you are a visitor
• The morning service is usually projected and so no books are required. For those who prefer, printed
sheets are available containing the songs.
• There is a crèche throughout the service in the lower lounge. For older children there is Sunday School
(age 3-9) and Covies (age 10-18). Children leave for these before the reading
• Prayer Ministry is available at all Sunday services with a particular provision at Communion service.
Please move to the front after the service or speak to a member of the Prayer Ministry team.
• It is our policy not to take public collections, but if you wish to give towards the work of St. Cuthbert’s
please use the offertory box. If you are a tax payer please think about completing a Gift Aid declaration
Ten per cent of all that we receive is in turn given away to the following mission agencies: OMF, CMS &
Crosslinks. We also support YFC/ Covies, Careforce & The Message.

Sunday School Summer
Over the summer, we try to give our Sunday School teachers a
well-earned rest, but we still need to run activities each week for
the children and young people in church. If you can lead a week
- or help on one of the weeks - that would be very much
appreciated. We will give you all the material you need to run
the session - but we do need people to volunteer. If you are
around for any of the Sundays in August and are willing to help
out, please to speak to Catherine Johnson or Andrew Pugh today.
Open Air Songs of Praise
Put the date in your diary now – Sunday 15 August 6.30pm at Edinburgh Close.
A sign up sheet for hymns is now on the board, so please do offer a choice of
hymn and a few words. Flyers are also available for distribution.
Arrangements for Covies in the autumn
Would parents for a all children in school tears 5 and above please collect a letter from Kate
today advising of changes in groups for the autumn. Thank you.
‘ Sweet Tastes of Heaven’
Our next event for women will be a pudding tasting event.
This will be on Friday 1st October from 7.30 - 9.30 and held
(hopefully) in the Upper Room. We would like you to
volunteer your favourite recipe to be included in a recipe
book. The first 15 people to submit their recipe will be asked
to make and bring their pudding to the event and will receive a
free ticket! Tickets will be on sale in September for £3, which includes a copy of the recipe
book. If you would like to take part please see John Berry.
Concordia

Abney 5K
The date for our next 5K has been provisionally set for Saturday 16 October at 9.30am.
Following that, the run will move on to a monthly basis for a trial period – 06 November,
04 December, 01 January 2011
Men’s Breakfast
The leaders have decided to close Men’s Breakfast and replace it
with a Saturday Café starting on 02 October 9.30 -11.30am. The
aim is to make this a meeting place / contact point for local people
as well as to provide back up for the Abney Run. A selection of
newspapers will be available along with sausage / bacon
sandwiches and a cup of tea for £1. More details will follow
nearer the time. NB Mike has tried to contact Men’s Breakfast
members to explain the decision, but is glad to speak personally with anyone he didn’t
manage to reach.
Taize Service
Ronnie has put together a CD of last Sunday’s service –
please see him if you would like a copy. A zip file is also
available on the website.
Lifts to Church
Would you benefit from having a car lift to attend our services and then home again or
perhaps you know of someone who would? Alternatively, whilst you perhaps don’t
currently use your car to bring someone, would you like to consider doing so now, either on
a regular or maybe a ‘supply and demand’ basis? If you are interested, please pick up a
flyer in the Foyer for details of how you can receive/offer help or speak to Joyce Barber.
St Cuthbert’s, Birkby, Huddersfield
Mike says, ‘Support them & support me….’ St Cuthbert’s is a
small, but active church with a multi-racial congregation in an
area of spiritual and physical need. Help is urgently required
with works on the roof totally over £200K, though a large
grant has been received making the remaining target of £80K
achievable. Next Sunday I am taking part in the London
Triathlon (swim 1.6K; cycle 40K; run 10K) on their behalf.
