First I would like to express my gratitude to Prof. Ashok Kumar sarkar, Dean,
School of Management Science and Head, Centre for Business Administration who
allowed me to complete the Summer Internship Programme (SIP) at Lumbini
Beverage Pvt. Ltd PepsiCo at Hajipur . Second I want to thank the HR Manager
Of Lumbini beverage Pvt. Ltd Mr.Vidyut Roy Who Permitted me to complete
the SIP in his reputed industry.

I would like to thank my librarian, who took adequate czre and effort in searching
books, magazines, journals etc so that I could complete my project smoothly and
well is stipulated timefreame.
Last but not the least, I would like to cite my beloved parents and all my friends for
their encouragement, support and blessings.

PREFACE

My subject of Summer Internship Programme (SIP) project was Distribution


Channel & Market share of PepsiCo at Hajipur. I worked on this project for
complete 4 weeks at Lumbini beverages Pvt. Ltd (PepsiCo). To get knowledge and
first hand information , I visited a number of outlet
s and retail shops and distributors and collected data regarding sales and
distribution network.
The owner of retail shops and outlets extended their full cooperation so that I
succeeded in getting the true knowledge and exact position of PepsiCo products in
the market.
On the basis of data collected during the course, I have drawn conclusion
that the sale of PepsiCo products is less than the Coca-Cola products.It is 40%
while Coca-Cola products sale is less than 60% in the market. The reason of this
the distribution and retailers do not get supply of products on the time and they do
not get the proper schemes too. Complain of the retailers regarding the cooling
problem of the refrigerators are not solved on the time and new refrigerators are
not supplied on the demand of shopkeeper. If these problem solved , the sale will
improve to a large extent.
Information supplied by the retailers and distributor , it is clear that the
PepsiCo products are popular among the users but the main problem is the faulty
supply and not solving the problem of retailers.
By doing this course I have been benefitted in many ways: I gained market
exposure with various retailers and whole sellers and collected first-hand
information and knowledge regarding the distribution channel and market share of
PepsiCo at Hajipur. This experience of mine will help me in future while I shall
start my career in the field of marketing.
