SMART Goals- A S.M.A.R.T. goal is defined as one that is specific, measurable,

achievable, results-focused, and time- bound. Below is a definition of each of
the S.M.A.R.T. goal criteria.

Specific: Goals should be simplistically written and clearly define what you are going to do.

Measurable: Goals should be measurable so that you have tangible evidence that you have
accomplished the goal. Usually, the entire goal statement is a measure for the project, but there
are usually several short-term or smaller measurements built into the goal.

Results-focused: Goals should measure outcomes, not activities.

Time-bound: Goals should be linked to a timeframe that creates a practical sense of urgency, or
results in tension between the current reality and the vision of the goal. Without such tension, the
goal is unlikely to produce a relevant outcome.

Task 2- Now evaluate your goals as written above to assess how smart they are and re-write them
if required.

Are your goals S.M.A.R.T. ?

Goal:

1. Specific. What will the goal accomplish? My goal is to get a high grade in my summer
course (Life and Study Skills) How and why will it be accomplished? I will accomplish
my goal by studying and revising everything I take after the class. And the reason
why I want to accomplish this goal, is because I want to have a strategy in how to
study, also to increase my GPA.
2. Measurable. How will you measure whether or not the goal has been reached (list at least
two indicators)? I will measure my goal by doing the assessments I have and the pop
quizzes.
3. Achievable. Is it possible? yes its possible Have others done it successfully? Yes, most
of the people had it done well. Do you have the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities,
and resources to accomplish the goal? Yes, I can use books, E-text books and google
scholar while doing my assessments. Will meeting the goal challenge you without
defeating you? Of course theres somethings that will defeat me, for example if the
assessment was hard and I have to do many researches to find the perfect source
and informations.
4. Results-focused. What is the reason, purpose, or benefit of accomplishing the goal? The
purpose is to have a high grades and to increase the GPA as well, because its in my
graduation requirement. What is the result (not activities leading up to the result) of the
goal? The result is to have a high grade in all the assessments.
4. Time-bound. What is the established completion date and does that completion date
create a practical sense of urgency? The established completion date is on 22nd of
June, and I will be done with all of my assessments and hopefully will have high
grades.
