I interned two days a week at Lutherville Laboratory from August to December 2016. I
had the opportunity to intern in an inclusion Pre-school and Pre-K classroom along with a self-
contained Kindergarten classroom. Lutherville Laboratory is a magnet school that provides
education for typical and special needs students. During my internship at Lutherville Laboratory
I was a nanny the other three days a week for a typical three year old boy and sixth month old
girl. It was through my internship at Lutherville Laboratory and being a nanny that I realized I
wanted to become a teacher for younger children, specifically from the ages of three to five.
My next internship was full-time, five days a week at Seven Oaks Elementary School. I
interned there from January to May 2017. I had the opportunity to intern in a self-contained
Preschool and an inclusion Pre-K classroom. Seven Oaks Elementary School has a diverse
population that provides education for typical and special needs students. It was during this
placement that I gained an extensive amount of practice with lesson planning and teaching. I
feel that being at this placement has extensively prepared me for my future special education
teaching career.
Teaching has been the most valuable and satisfying work I have ever done. All of the
students I have worked with have made a positive impact in my life; I hope to continue to
impact their lives as well as I continue my teaching career. My overall goal is to meet the needs
of each student so that he/she is able to be successful inside and outside of my classroom.
