FAREWELL SPEECH BY THE

OUTGOING HEAD BOY

I am very delighted and honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as the head boy of
this noble institution. About this time last year I was appointed the senior boys prefect
during which I cultivated the good qualities of leadership.
I had always thought leadership to be easy but as time went on, I got to find out that it
was not. In the beginning it was demanding to combine both academic with duties of a
prefect, but as time went on, we managed to overcome this and our tenure was a success
because of the support and encouragement of our teachers and ordinate cooperation of the
students.
Unimaid Demonstration Secondary School can be referred to a shining star in the
midst of stars. The staffs have been so dedicated that over the years not only have the
JAMB, SSCE, and NECO result greatly improved but the students have excelled in sporting
and academic competitions, bringing glory not only to themselves but to the school, the
state and Nigeria at large. UDSS does not only mould her students academically but also
inculcates in them moral virtue and good morals.
I wish to thank the management of university of Maiduguri for the foresight in
establishing this institution of learning. We are very grateful for it has made our dreams
come true. May almighty God bless you. Also my appreciation goes to our principal vice
principals and our loving teachers for the quality of education you have given us is
incomparable to any in the state. The saying teachers reward is in heaven should not only
be your portion but our prayer is that Almighty God bless you every day of your lives before
you go to heaven.
To our dear and loving parents, we thank you for making this school the school of
our first choice for we have acquired invaluable knowledge from it. We shall always
celebrate you and may the Almighty God give you long lives to see us realize our dreams.
To our fellow graduants, the journey has just commenced as we have been well
equipped to survive with our heads high in the society so dont lose hope even if the journey
gets tough as the saying goes when the journey gets tough only the tough gets going and
also tough times do not last but tough people do I challenge us to be good ambassadors of
this great institution and keep its flag hoisted.
To you students that we are living behind never go without the blessing off success,
so work hard to excel and be disciplined and the sky is your limit. Finally I ask you to extend
to the new prefects the cooperation you have given us THANK you and God bless you all.
