Annual SAHS Potluck to be held August 14


The Shepherd Area Historical Society will be hosting a Potluck at the Shepherd Park on
August 14 starting at 6 p.m. Everyone from the community is welcomed to attend. Bring a
dish to pass and a chair.

The cost is $25 per person, and dress is casual.

We will eat in the middle of Second Street near the Post Office.

Entertainment
Local trio Tinkers Folly will begin playing at 6:00 p.m. to welcome guests as they chat and
find their ways to their seats. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and will be prepared by local
chefs using locally sourced veggies, meats and fruits as appetizers, entrees and desserts.
This will be a meal with a definite panache!

Schedule
Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:00 to have time to look over and bid on the terrific,
wide-ranging assortment of Silent Auction items. There will be door-prize drawings, too, and
significant toe tapping.

What if it rains? St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church has graciously offered their parish hall
to keep us, the band and the delectable meals dry.

General Information
All proceeds from the dinner (after the bills are paid) will be donated to the St. Vincent De
Paul Food Pantry in Shepherd.

SAHS Ice Cream Social

The Shepherd Area Historical Society will be hosting an Ice Cream Social on July 10 at 6
p.m. in the Village Park. Everybody in the community is invited. The Central Michigan Area
Concert Band will perform later that same evening at 7:00 P.M.

Party in the Park

Party in Park planned for August 12 and 13

Plans are underway for this year's Party in the Park which will take place August 12 and 13
at the north end of the Village. Returning this year will be a beer tent, childrens activities,
demolition derby and a live band..

Stay tuned to the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival website and the Party in the Park page for

Country Crops Farmer's Market News

Blake Klumpp recently announced via video on Facebook that the Shepherd Country Crops
Farmer's Market will be open again from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily.

Teen Tuesdays Ice Cream Social

Teen Tuesday will feature free ice cream at the Shepherd Community Library on Tuesday,
June 20 and at the Veteran's Memorial Library on Tuesday, June 27. Both events are open
to teens in the community and start at 6 p.m. Those interested in participating can sign up on
the librarys website at http://www.crdl.org.

Did You Know?

Memory Mission, LLC, developed by three local partners (Mary Jo Gibbons, John
Williams, and Steve, Wieczorek), purchased and repurposed a vacant church in
Shepherd naming it Stone Lodge Supportive Senior Living and opened on April 1, 2016.

Stone Lodge Supportive Senior Living recently changed its name to Stone Lodge
Memory Care.

Stone Lodge has provided service to over 31 guests (9 for short-term overnight respite
and 22 for long-term residency) and support to countless family members.

Stone Lodge is currently at full capacity and beginning a waiting list. It is licensed to
serve 13 and beginning the design plans for expansion to 20.

Stone Lodge currently employs 12 full and part time employees and is growing its team
to meet the expanding need. Stone Lodge is proud to include 6 Certified Dementia
Practitioners on its team of Care Partners under the direction of its Co-Owner/Program
Director (Mary Jo Gibbons), Program Coordinator (Lois Montgomery), and Wellness
Coordinator (Jackie Shanteau).

Stone Lodge collaborates with primary care providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants,
Nurse Practitioners) along with Home Care and Hospice providers. Other services
available are laboratory, pharmacy, physical/occupational/speech therapy and massage
therapy.

Stone Lodge promotes an active Grand Friends Volunteer Program including people of
all ages for an intergenerational focus. It's proud to be a volunteer/intern site for
students of Shepherd High School and Central Michigan University. You may find out
