What does the research say about advantages and disadvantages of distance education?

1. LITERATURE REVIEW:
What does the literature/research say about this issue/topic? By using NAU
Library or Online Search engines, conduct a literature review.
You need to include 5 different sources (book, journal article, web article
etc.) in your review. Try to use current sources as much as possible.
You need to summarize and synthesize your sources by discussing a

Brief Literature Review:

I have chosen an article from our EBSCO database as my primary resource,

The Light and Dark Sides of Distance Education by Cleborne Maddux, Jacque
Ewing-Taylor and LaMont Johnson. According to the authors, distance education
is the most promising educational innovation of our lifetime. Despite its lack of
attention to educational quality control issues, the ability to reach learners in
geographically remote locations or those in circumstances that mitigate against
attendance at regular and traditional hours; the potential to reach many types of
nontraditional students; and most importantly, the opportunity for students to
work and learn at a style and pace most consistent with their own mental and
physical constitutions.

What is your personal opinion on this issue? Do you agree with the
research? If you agree or disagree, please explain why?

perspective or If you are not working in a school, from your profession. Be

specific methods that you plan to use, etc.
 How would you implement this research in your career? (At least 1
paragraph)

Reflection:
I think the distance education is a wonderful tool for those who seek for further in their
personal education but have limited time and/or in distance from the source. I personally
do not perform well in distance education and prefer the traditional type of education
where you can have more connection and see your instructor, communicate in real time
and hear what others think for the subject matter.
In distance education, there is more flexibility which most of the times, at least in my
case, cause tardiness and laziness that will be resulted as lack quality when doing
assignments.
