PROGRESS REPORT

Objective no. 1

The proponents have called different companies offering car barrier system to know the prices,
parts and features. Unfortunately, all commercially-available are not cost-effective. On the other hand,
we found a machine shopPCS Builders & Machine Works, Inc. that are capable of constructing the
projects hardware. He also suggest possible designs to make it more economic and efficient.

Objective no. 2

The proponents have decided to switch back from Java programming language to MATLAB due
to its complicated programming algorithm structures. The proponents will adopt the algorithms that
were made in Java back to MATLAB as well. The program runs perfectly in MATLAB and detects the
license plate region through Blob Extraction process. The figure in the proceeding section shows the
extracted plate region that were detected using Blob Extraction and Histogram analysis in MATLAB. The
license plate extraction is almost done. Some improvements will be performed.

Objective no. 3

The proponents are planning to use the Segmentation process that were made initially in the
beginning using MATLAB. After the license plate region is detected and extracted, a perspective
correction process will be performed. Then the segmentation process will be done. After this, the
individual characters that were segmented will be recognized through Artificial Neural Network.

Objective no. 4

The members have decided where to buy camera located in Dahua Company at BF Homes,
Paraaque. The technical staff of the shop advised us to return for CCTV demonstration and installation.
