Part-time Organizer Position


Position Description

Women on the Rise is a membership-based organization of women targeted and/or impacted by the
criminal justice system. Women on the Rise works to educate, heal, and empower ourselves, one
another, and our communities to demand justice, dignity, and liberation for all.

Position: Part-time Organizer


Women on the Rise is seeking a part-time organizer to support and lead some of the organizations
campaign efforts. The part-time organizer position begins July 15, 2017 and ends July 15, 2018. The
position pays $15.00 an hour $15,600.00 per year, for 20 hours per week.

Principal Responsibilities:
Outreach and Membership Recruitment
Organizer will participate in the building of Women on the Rises membership base.
Will coordinate and conduct street and organization/event outreach, engage in social
media to get the word out.
Recruit new members, documenting of new contacts into database, conduct follow up
with potential new members.
Support with organizing monthly meetings.
Support with facilitating/gathering of workshop materials.
Will support WoR and RJACs to identify short and long-term campaign plans.
Participate in direct actions.

Somatics Transformation
All staff is required to participate in Somatics Transformation trainings.

Desired Qualifications:
Someone who has been/or is impacted by the criminal legal system: Formerly
incarcerated/returning citizen.
At least 2 years of base building and campaign based organizing experience.
Highly motivated to end mass incarceration and criminalization in Georgia.
Proven ability to accomplish multi-pronged, fast-moving projects.
Ability to work well with a diverse team.
Ability to communicate with, motivate and listen to others.
Commitment to the power and self-determination of low-income communities and
communities of color.
A well-developed personal framework to social justice and a strong commitment to racial and economic
justice and Women on the Rises mission and vision.

can take the form of: flier, blog post, letter to the editor, brochure, and article or report on ending mass
incarceration, criminal justice, racial justice and/or civil rights.
