Memoir Assignment

Assignment Description:

After learning about memoirs and the four necessary elements of a

memoir, your assignment is to create your own written and digital
memoir. Pick one important event in your life that marked a shift in
your personality, your understanding of life, or your way of thinking.
This assignment will require you to write from both perspectives: the
you in the then and you in the now. Additionally, you will provide
pictures to go with each important part of the story. These pictures
must be of you or your family or even the place you are writing about.
These pictures will be collected and displayed using the KnightLab
app: Pitcha. Your written part will act as captions to your selected
photos.

Learning Objectives:

After this assignment, students can:

- Demonstrate the use of all four essential elements of memoir.
- Implement media into their own written reflection of their
life.
- Organize their photos and writing into two different
perspectives to tell a story.
- Clearly transition between two different time settings.

Expectations:

Students will be expected to write at least ten shorter paragraphs (4-6

sentences) from each perspective: you in the then and you in the now,
or 5 longer paragraphs (7-10 sentences) that intertwine both
perspectives. These paragraphs must be the captions of your photos on
Pitcha.
Students must use at least 5 school-appropriate photos of themselves,
their family, or the place they are describing. These pictures must
show a distinct change in the subject. More than five pictures can be
 used as well. Each photo must have a caption and multiple Pitcha
panels can be used.
Students must implement all four essential characteristics of memoirs
in their writings.
