ERW / HFW Continuos Forming
The strip enters a cage roll system, formed by multiple
pairs of adjustable side rolls and sets of bottom and top
rolls.
Here it gradually changes its U-shape into an oval shape.
The almost formed pipe enters the Fin-Pass section. The
skelp edges are guided to produce a V convergence,
which will enable the welding process.
During this stage a high frequency electrical current is
transmitted to the material by means of copper sliding
contacts. As a result, the abutted V-shaped edges start
fusion when touching each other.
A set of squeezing rolls exerts the necessary pressure to
complete the welding process.
