I. OBJECTIVE(S) At the end of the lesson, at least 75% of the students with 75 proficiency should be
able to achieve the ff. goals:
1. Explain the processes that occur along convergent boundaries using a diagram;
2. Determine the geological events that could happen as well as the geologic
features that will be formed when oceanic plate collides with a continental
plate.; and
3. Recognize the significance of determining the different types of plate
boundaries.

C. Materials: illustration of a convergent boundary
III. LEARNING TASKS
A. ENGAGE Ask one student to recall the procedure of Part A Activity on the Types of Plate
Boundaries. Based from there, ask another student to draw a diagram of the
observation done. From there, introduce convergent boundary & its types.

B. EXPLORE Using the diagram on Convergent Boundary (Continental-Oceanic), students

will answer the activity.

C. EXPLAIN
 KEY CONCEPTS:
1. During the convergence of an oceanic plate and a continental plate, the
denser oceanic plate slides under the continental plate. This process is called
subduction.
2. Geologic events such as formation of volcanoes and trenches as well as
occurrence of earthquake will take place because of this process.
D. ELABORATE Give examples of geologic features nowadays that resulted from continental-
oceanic convergent boundary & ask the students to think about its relevance to
the world. EX.

E. EVALUATE Using the diagram below, explain the processes involved in a continental-
oceanic convergent boundary.

IV. ASSIGNMENT Research for more geologic features that resulted from continental-oceanic
convergence. Make a clipping of these features.
