The final exam in French 2(H) is a cumulative, summative assessment. It will test your ability to use
the French you have learned through Daccord II and in classroom activities. Do not underestimate
the time commitment necessary to reviewing these materials.
The format of the exam will be similar to previous exams. There will be grammar/writing sections,
a listening section (which we will complete prior to the final exam date), as well as reading sections.
Note: the French 2 Honors exam will examine additional material and will be a little longer/more
demanding than the French 2 exam.
FRENCH 2
Grammar
Negatives 172-173
reflexives 98-99
prsent 4
pass compos
26-29
Tense / aspect / mood *** imparfait
conditionnel 150-151
** other verbs that we have come across will feature on the exam besides these ones, but there may
be specific sections on the verbs shown here.
*** the specific grammar sections on these tenses will test your knowledge of regular forms.
Irregular forms may appear in listening or reading assignments, for instance, so you should be
familiar with them and/or able to apply contextual inference. You should, however, review the
irregular forms for all tenses of the following very common verbs:
avoir
tre
aller
faire
voir
As you can see, we have covered a lot of ground. Each of the grammar sections will be short, but
youll need to have a good knowledge of all of the above to receive an excellent grade.
Vocabulary
At the beginning of the year and throughout our time together, I have insisted on doing periodic
review on previous material every so often. This is how language sticks in long-term memory. The
exam will test your ability to recognize and use vocabulary from all five main chapters covered, so it
is essential that you be familiar with the vocabulary related to these topics:
La nourriture p. 88
La sant p. 124
La technologie p. 160
En ville p. 196
Lavenir et les mtiers p. 234
As you can appreciate, the vocabulary may appear in a number of linguistic contexts. So, for
example, you may be asked to identify the vocabulary in a listening activity; or you may be asked to
write on a given topic using pertinent vocabulary. Alternatively, you may do a reading activity.
Prepare for all possibilities!
