Introduction
The Power Xpert Reporting Subsystem provides the following predefined reports:
Capacity - Branch Circuit Moni- Provides detailed capacity information about cir-
toring Report cuits, including phases and sides of a redundant
system that must be able to accept the full circuit
load. Specializes in circuits from multiple sides of
a data center. Also includes Environmental Moni-
toring of the data center, reporting on temperature,
humidity, and cooling efficiency.
Energy - Energy Cost Allocation Provides a total energy consumption and demand
Report dollar value or a cost per unit, such as kWh or
kW, for a selected time period. Available units in-
clude cubic-feet, pounds-mass, us gallons, volt-
amperes, volt-amperes reactive, or watts.
Energy - Energy Cost Allocation Provides either a total energy bill dollar value or a
- Period Comparison Report cost per unit, such as kWh for two different time
periods.
Energy - Energy Summary Re- Shows consumption (kWh) and demand (kW) for a
port selected time period. Demand costs can be spec-
ified as well. Available units include cubic-feet,
pounds-mass, us gallons, volt-amperes, volt-am-
peres reactive, or watts.
Energy - Energy Summary - Pe- Shows consumption (kWh) and demand (kW) for

Energy - Greenhouse Gas Re- Shows the quantity of six different greenhouse
port gases emitted by electric utilities in your area,
based upon your consumption of electrical energy

What Can I do with Power Xpert Reporting (PXR)?
General - Reporting Hierarchy Designed for data export, this report provides all of

PXR provides a set of reports that gives you insight into the health and effi-
ciency of your power system. PXR has a series of easy-to-understand reports
that provide information about circuit capacity, power quality, energy costs,
and events within your electrical system. You can use these reports to tune
your electrical system for maximum efficiency and reliability.

You can look at trends for cooling and power capacity, examine energy usage,
and keep tabs on your electrical system reliability. At a glance, you can deter-
mine that your power system is redundant, such as through the use of UPSs.
You can view energy consumption by your organization and then allocate
costs across your facility.
Absolutely. In fact, they'll give you a view of your data center power that you've
likely never seen. The Branch Circuit Monitoring report supports redundant da-
ta center configurations, and you can use this to see phase and side balance
and spot areas where there is available capacity or where they are about to
exceed capacity.
Yes, the reports integrate directly within the Power Xpert Software web inter-
face.
Yes. You can access the reports directly through their own web server. You
can also subscribe to reports and have them sent to email or file shares.
Yes, and in fact that's the easiest installation scenario. Having PXR on the
same server is suitable for smaller installations. For larger systems, you
should host SQL Server on a separate server machine.
9. So, I can install PXR and use an existing installation of Microsoft SQL Server?
Absolutely. You can either have a separate dedicated server running SQL
Server or even a server farm. The Installation and Deployment Guide provides
detailed instructions for this and we provide a Deployment Utility to help you
set this up.
You cannot run PXR on SQL Server Express. You must have SQL Server
Standard or Enterprise edition.
Yes, however this is handled by Eaton field engineers. Contact your Eaton
Representative. Eaton field engineers can configure a custom PXR solution for
your Foreseer system.
11. Can I import information into Excel, Access, and other applications?
Yes. You can export report data in a variety of standard file formats, including
comma separated value (CSV), Microsoft Excel, PDF, etc.
Note
For web access, you will need to use Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8,
9, or the desktop version of Internet Explorer 10 to access the reporting sub-
system. Other browsers will provide reduced functionality.
The initial report page, shown in the following figure, provides access to the various
reports. Simply click the link to access the report you wish to view.
1. By date range, which can be either a pre-defined time period or custom, allowing
you to set arbitrary start and finish dates as well as the sub-period (ranging from
Hour to Year-to-Date). Note that the Cost Allocation - Period Comparison and
Energy Summary - Period Comparison Reports have two date ranges,

Greenhouse Gas
When you select a point in the device hierarchy, you will receive a report on both it
and all of the devices beneath it in the tree. For example, if you see something similar
to the following in the Reporting Hierarchy tree:
\\ACME\CONI2
If you select \\ACME\CONI2\800A BUSS DUCT Feeder (East), the report will only
contain information about that circuit. However, if you select \\ACME\CONI2, the re-
port will contain information about both DUCT Feeder circuits, as they are considered
children of \\ACME\CONI2. Also, the report would contain anything that was in the
CON12 folder as well.
The Find field provides a simple text search for all or part of an item within the report.
The search string can be up to 128 characters in length. Boolean search operators,
such as "+," are not supported.
The print button accesses the standard Windows print dialog box, which you can use
to print the current report.
Note
The print function is only supported in Internet Explorer, and may not work in
Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, or other browsers.
The Power Xpert Reporting (PXR) configuration settings, such as report and server
URLs, log file locations and current logging state (active or not), etc.
While this information can be found in various screens in the Administration and De-
ployment utilities, this report provides a single reference that describes your system
setup. A good practice is to run this report on a fully functional PXR system and file it
as a future reference.
This is also an excellent report for troubleshooting purposes, and should you need to
contact Eaton for support you may be asked to generate this report.
A new parameter, "Include Empty Circuits", when checked, causes every folder in the
hierarchy to be included in the report, even if it has no data.
Note
If more than one parameter is entered for temperature and humidity, the re-
sult will be an average of the two. The "Max" value would be the peak of the
two.
The watt and volt-ampere ratings on the Branch Circuit Monitoring report are
informational only, and handled on a per folder basis. They are not used in
calculations that show capacity.
If watt or volt-ampere attributes with different ratings are on the same side
within a folder, the MAX rating is shown.
Date Range Sets the time period for the report. See the following ta-
ble for a list of possible time periods.
Start Date Sets the start date for the custom Date Range period.
End Date Sets the end date for the custom Date Range period.
Group by Sub-Period Sets the time scale for report graphs.
Reporting Hierarchy Specifies the selected point in the hierarchy drop-down
list as the starting point for the report. The report will
contain all circuits under the starting point.
Initial Detail Selects an increasing level of detail shown in the report.
You can select from: Totals Only; Totals and Sides;
Totals, Sides, and Drilldowns; and Totals, Sides, and
Drilldowns Expanded.
Minimum Utilization % Filters the report to show only circuits where the utiliza-
tion exceeds the minimum percentage. If you don't want
to use this filter, simply leave it blank.
Maximum Utilization % Filters the report to show only circuits where the utiliza-
tion is less than the maximum percentage. If you don't
want to use this filter, simply leave it blank.
Value Used Selects the function to use when calculating sub-period
report values. You can select between MIN (minimum),
MAX (maximum), and AVG (average) which will display
those values for the period as well as the sub-period.
Period averages will be the average of sub-period aver-
ages.
Include Empty Circuits When checked, all folders are included whether or not
they contain data. When unchecked, folders without da-
ta are ignored.
Display Units Selects between English and Metric.
Who uses it? This report is especially useful for Data Center Directors. The report
shows capacity on redundant circuits, and you can use it to spot where circuits are
exceeding their total capacity or on which circuits you can add additional loads.
This report is also valuable in monitoring the temperature and humidity of cooling air
in the data center, plotting trends, and showing the cooling air efficiency. The report
also displays power trends and high-low trends per phase.
What does it contain? The table at the top of the report (1) shows detailed information
for each side of the circuit. Each circuit can have one or more Sides which represent
redundant power sources that must be able to accept the full circuit load. The table
also shows kVA, kW, and detailed circuit utilization by Phase, expressed in amps.
The Total line summarizes all information for the circuit. It is color coded depending
upon the worst utilization figures. The ranges are:
<70% White / Blue
70 - 80% Yellow
80 - 90% Orange
>90% Red
Note
The numbers contained in this sample report are not intended to be an ac-
curate representation of a customer facility. They are simply symbolic of the
type of data that can be generated by the Branch Circuit Monitoring report.
For more information on how to set up the specific report you desire, refer to
the PXR Administrators Guide, Creating Report Hierarchies.
The Environmental Monitoring section (2) shows the low, average, and high tem-
perature (in degrees F, and the low, average and high relative humidity (in percent)
for the inlet and exhaust cooling air. The report also calculates and plots the cooling
efficiency, which is calculated by dividing kW by a delta factor. Separate graphs show
the trend in inlet and outlet temperatures and the cooling efficiency trend. The trend
will be hidden if you have no Environmental readings.
If you select any of the Drilldowns options, you'll see the following detailed sections
as well. The Power Trend section (3) consists of stacked bar charts that compare
the sides throughout the period of the report. The x-axis is defined by the Sub-Period
value set for the report. Trend details will be hidden if you have no power readings.
The Side Balance per Phase section (4) consists of stacked bar charts comparing
the Sides. The heading of the section shows the Value Used selection.
The High-Low Trend per Phase section (5) shows trend charts for each Phase.
Each bar shows the MIN and MAX for the sub-period (e.g., Day). The color coding
(described above) visually highlights the utilization. However, in the case of High-Low
Trends <70% is shown in blue, as seen in the graphs below.
Similar information is provided for single phase Circuits and Breakers (6). At the top,
this page shows the Side, kVA rating and load, kW rating and load, and Amps rating
and load per phase for the sub-period selected (e.g. Day). Totals are shown for all
breakers on that side.
This page also shows the Side Balance per Phase and High-Low Trend per Phase
for the breakers on each individual circuit, as well as totals.
Information about Single Phase Circuits (7) can be shown in this report as well. The
top part of the page shows the side, rating and load (in amps) for a single circuit, as
well as total load for all sides. The page also shows Inlet and Exhaust Temperature
Trend, Cooling Efficiency Trend, Side Balance Average (in Amps), and High-Low
Trend (in Amps) for each circuit selected.
This report can also show the Power Distribution by Panel (8). This page shows the
load (in amps), rating, side and daily trend for each circuit on each phase, for any giv-
en panel. Each panel consists of 42 individual breakers.
Note
The illustration below (8) shows only 20 of the 42 breakers on this panel.
To display this panel, a single hierarchy folder must have 42*x children folders with
single phase current, where x is the number of panels. Each folder represents a cir-
cuit.
If the user has 42 folders, PXR will create a BCMR with a single panel. Naming con-
vention is not used for these folders, so it assumes they are sequential (Circuit 1, Cir-
cuit 2, Circuit 3, etc.).
If a user has 84 folders. PXR will create a BCMR with two panels. Naming convention
is not used for these folders, so it assumes they are sequential (Circuit 1 - Panel 1,
Circuit 2 - panel 1, ... Circuit 42 - Panel 2, Circuit 1 - panel 2, Circuit 2 - panel 2, etc.).
Note
When an attribute is missing data, the panel view may not show properly.
The single-phase view may be shown instead. Use "Include Empty Circuits"
if this is being problematic.
Note
Because the charts are built in blocks, each bar consists of a number of
blocks base on its value. This can cause values that are slightly different ap-
pear to have more of magnitude difference than they really do because the
value difference gives the larger bar a whole new block.
Also, the scaling of bar charts is per parent hierarchy folder, so all panels
with a Remote Power Panel (RPP) will have the same scale for their charts.
The next RPP will have another scale for the next set of panels. If the charts
are stretched out and made to look larger, the problem goes away.
The (bar chart) panel trends are approximate given their size. A larger, and
more accurate, bar chart results from pulling the report for the single circuit
and seeing the chart in the single phase view.
The report can also display user-supplied Images of devices in the hierarchy, such
as individual panel connections or panel location. See the Administrator's Guide for
details.
The second and following pages provide information for all monitored circuits that
are contained in the query.

What does it contain? Page one has the following points of interest:

mum. The white line shows the average. The right-hand side shows the maximum
and its numeric value.
Important
You must have baseline data as well as real data for the period specified in the
report.
Who Uses It?This report is especially useful to anyone working toward LEED certifi-
cation, including:

What does it contain? The top section of the following report shows totals for either
the Initial Detail options of Category, Sub Category (which includes Category), or
Sub Period. These options are defined in the baseline that you select. Baselines
are created using the Administration Utility. If the Chart option is chosen, the report
is similar to the Sub Period option but with the addition of bar charts for Sub Period
in each section of the report. The subsequent sections of the report show the same
information for each level in the hierarchy. The current reporting hierarchy level is
shown to the left of each section in the report.
Note
If you have both a consumption and demand attribute from the same device
in the same hierarchy, only the consumption attribute will be used to calcu-
late consumption.
If you add the same attribute to multiple levels of a hierarchy, it will only be
counted once for the Total Consumption.

What does it contain?The report is arranged into three basic sections, as shown be-
low: Totals for the Period (1), Totals by Day (2) and Consumption by Load Type (3).
Each section is arranged into two or more columns.
The top section (1), shows the metrics used, in this case DCiE (expressed as a per-
centage) and PUE (as a real number), for the period of time covered, as well as the
total electrical consumption. Consumption is expressed in MWh, and broken down as
being IT related or non-IT related. This section also displays the low, high and aver-
age temperature (in F) for the period covered, as well as the low, high and average
relative humidity.
The center section (2) shows the Data Center Efficiency (as a percentage) by day (or
other sub-period selected) and power consumption (scaled in Wh) by day. The report
also shows the temperature (in F) and the relative humidity (in percent) for the sub-
period.
The bottom section (3) shows the consumption of electricity by load type (scaled in
Wh) for both IT and non-IT activities for the sub-period selected.
While this example covers system totals, the same format will be used for all levels of
the hierarchy.
If you add the same device attribute to multiple levels of a hierarchy it will on-
ly be counted once for the Total Consumption and Total Cost of the report
once.
For example, suppose that the total consumption for the common folder is 205.6 kWh
and there are nine folders in the reporting hierarchy. The common consumption val-
ue that's added to each hierarchy folder is 205.6/9 = 22.85 kWh. The same is true for
Peak Demand.
Note
Don't combine hierarchy folders in another folder if using the split method.
Since the value for common is calculated by dividing the total by the number
of folders, combining folders will invalidate the common value.
Note
The common value used for Peak Demand isn't likely to be the value shown
as the Peak Demand for the hierarchy folder. The Peak Demand shown
is the true peak value for that folder, but the value used for common is the
peak value for the folder at the time that the total Peak Demand was record-
ed. For example, the folder Peak Demand may have occurred on Tuesday,
but the total Peak Demand value might have been recorded on the follow-
ing Thursday. Thus the Peak Demand value used for common could be less
than the Peak Demand shown for the folder. Also, the Peak Demand value
used for common is not shown on the report.
Date Range Sets the time period for the report. See Table 2, Report-
ing Time Period Choices [10].
Start Date Sets the start date for the custom Date Range period.
End Date Sets the end date for the custom Date Range period.
Group by Sub-Period Sets the time scale for report graphs.

Normalization Selects a category of normalization trend, such as
square feet. PXR finds all trends of that type and uses
them.
Unit Type Selects cubic feet, pounds-mass, us gallons, volt-
amperes, volt-amperes reactive, or watts.

What does it contain? The top portion of the following report (1) shows totals for the
period, including Usage, Rate and Cost for both consumption and demand. The bot-
tom part of the report (2) is arranged into two columns showing Usage and Cost. The
reporting hierarchy is shown to the left of the columns.
The Usage column shows both consumption and demand for each hierarchy. The
Cost column shows the cost of energy consumption and demand, and their com-
bined total, for each hierarchy. The percent for each hierarchy, compared to the to-
tal for all hierarchies, is shown as a small pie chart. The bars show consumption and
have a maximum scale of the total overall consumption.
Note
If you have both a consumption and demand attribute from the same de-
vice in the same hierarchy, only the value of the consumption attribute will be
used to calculate consumption.
You can also enter a demand cost as well as a consumption cost. If costs
are entered, the rate will be calculated by dividing the cost by the usage.
Selecting Unit Cost will also set the appropriate rate or demand cost.
If you add the same device attribute to multiple levels of hierarchy it will on-
ly be counted once for the Total Consumption and Total Cost of the report
once.
Date Range Sets the time period for the report. See Table 2, Report-
ing Time Period Choices [10].
Start Date Sets the start date for the custom Date Range period.
Compare Start Date Sets the start date for the comparison custom Date
Range period.

Utility Type Filters by type of utility. You can select between All, Wa-
ter, Air, Gas, Electricity, and Steam. This type of utility
is set in the device attributes Utility Type property.
Consumption Cost Allocation Method Selects either Rate ($/MCF) or Consumption Cost ($,
Mpph, Tgpm, kVA, kvar, or kW).
Demand Cost Allocation Method Selects either Rate ($/MCFM), or Demand Cost ($,
Mlbs, Tgal, kVAh, kvarh, or kWh).
Rate or Consumption Cost Sets a user entered value of Rate or Total Cost, de-
pending upon the Cost Allocation selected.
Rate or Demand Cost Sets a user entered value of Rate or Total Cost, de-
pending upon the Cost Allocation selected.
Consumption Total Reporting Hierarchy Selects Sum of Attributes or a Level of Hierarchy,
which sets a hierarchy as Total Consumption. It de-
faults to the Sum of Attributes which is all attributes
under the hierarchy selected. If the user changes the
default to a specific path of the hierarchy then only that
folder of the hierarchy will be used to find the total.

What does it contain? The top portion of the following report (1) shows the Usage,
Rate and Cost for both consumption and demand, for each of the two time periods.
This section also shows the total cost for each of the two time periods.
The bottom part of the report (2) is arranged into two columns showing Usage and
Cost. The Reporting hierarchy is shown to the left of the columns and shows the start
date for each of the two time periods being compared in each hierarchy.
The Usage column shows both consumption and demand for each time period in
each hierarchy. A small bar chart shows consumption for each time period in each hi-
erarchy selected and allows for an easy visual comparison.
The Cost column shows the cost of energy consumption and demand, and their com-
bined total, for each time period in each hierarchy. The percent for each hierarchy,
compared to the total of all hierarchies, is shown as a small pie chart.
This report now accommodates more units of measure, notably cubic-feet, pounds-
mass and us-gallons. This allows you to pull reports for utilities other than electricity,
including water, air, gas, and steam.
Note
In this report, like units are combined for a total and may not be indicative of
a specific utility. For example, values for gas and steam included in several
folders (both measured in cubic-feet) would be combined as a (cubic-feet) to-
tal for both and not be representative of either specific utility.
Because like units are combined, we recommend using the Utilities report
then selecting the specific utility desired. This will provide data only for that
utility.
In the Energy Summary report selecting Unit Cost will set the appropriate rate or de-
mand cost.

What does it contain? The report consists of two columns for the reporting, as shown
in the following figure: Total Consumption (1) and Peak Demand (2). The example
in the figure had Initial Detail set to None. Total Consumption is shown in kWh and
Peak Demand in kW. The time of the Peak Demand is shown to the right.
The report also shows Consumption by the Hour (as a bar chart) (3), Demand by the
Hour (as a line graph) (4), and additional details (5) such as Consumption, Demand,
and Data Errors on an hourly basis.
The sample report shown here is for all utilities. Individual reports can be pulled for
any part of the hierarchy, but the appearance will be the same.
Note
Data errors occur when there are fewer or more data points received than
expected. The number of data points for the Energy Interval is set in the Ad-
ministration Utility for each attribute. For example, if the Energy Interval was
15 (4 trends per hour), but there were fewer or more than four received, a
data error would be recorded. Similarly, if a PXG sends multiple data points
per hour, a data error would be recorded. (PXGs send trends every hour, un-
less the deadband is triggered).
Each entry in the report contains additional detail. If Initial Detail is set to None, no
expanded detail is presented. If Initial Detail is set to All, the detail is expanded for
each entry. The additional detail shows a bar chart for consumption and a line graph
for demand per the Date Range, as well as tables showing the consumption and de-
mand values per time period (see the following figure). The time span of the X-axis
set by the Date Range value. The Sub-period determines how the data is split along
the X-axis.

dependent on the data collected. PXS determines the value, such as W or Wh. PXR
determines the scaling, such as W, kW, MW, Wh, kWh, or MWh.
The report also shows Consumption by the Hour (or other sub-period) as a bar chart,
for the two time periods (4), Demand by the Hour (as a line graph) for the two time
periods (5), and additional details (6) such as Consumption and Demand on an
hourly basis.
The time span of the X-axis is set by the Date Range value. The sub-period deter-
mines how the data is split along the X-axis.
Both the bar chart and linear graph contain additional detail. If Initial Detail is set to
None, no additional detail is presented. If Initial Detail is set to All, the detail is ex-
panded for each entry.

Utilities Report
What is it? The Utilities report shows the Consumption and Maximum Rate of Water,
Air, Gas, Electricity, and Steam, on a daily basis, for a predetermined hierarchy over
a given period of time. All utilities can be shown on the same report, as a group, indi-
vidually or in combination. Both the Date Range and Sub-Period are selectable.
The report does not compare consumption between hierarchies or different periods of
time. However, comparisons between hierarchies and date ranges can be made by
running a separate report for each hierarchy or date range then comparing the results
from each report. The report shows consumption, not cost, and is expressed in stan-
dard English units of measure, not metric.
To calculate total consumption, you must set the utility type and the energy interval.
The report shows the consumption of each utility in their appropriate units of mea-
sure, such as:

What Does It Contain? In the following figure, the top part of the report (1) shows To-
tals for the Period, as well as Consumption and Max Rate totals for each of the five
utilities.
The center of the report shows Consumption (2) by the time sub-period selected,
such as Hour or Day. This is a group of bar graphs that show the total consumption
for each utility type selected, for the sub-period selected.
The bottom of the report shows the Max Rate (3) by sub-period selected, such as
Hour or Day. This is a group of linear graphs that show the Maximum Rate for each
utility type selected, for the sub-period selected.
The sum of all attributes will be displayed only in U.S. (English) units of measure
(such as U.S.Gallons) not metric (such as Liters). This section will also display con-
sumption trends where there are consumption attributes.
This report presentation format will be the same for all levels of the hierarchy selected
when reports are pulled for utility totals.

What does it contain? The report shows trend charts for the attributes in the selected
point of the hierarchy. The following example shows voltage. The top chart (1) shown
in the figure shows the distribution of the values in the number of buckets selected.
The table to its left shows the distribution of the values based on the number of buck-
ets selected.
The bottom chart (2) shows the trend over time. The time span for the x-axis is deter-
mined by the Date Range period. The Sub-period value determines how the x-ax-
is is split. The y-axis will either autoscale to the values (Scale = Auto) or will scale to
the range set in the Administration Utility.
The details box at the bottom of the chart reveals the set of data, displayed in tabular
format. This is opened by default if you select Initial Detail = Show Grid. This can be
a very large table. The following figure shows a small portion of a typical data table.

the hierarchy, which is usually a view of the events for an entire facility. The graph to

the graphs, and list the data associated with each chart.
The Event Timeline shows events plotted against time (4), while the Events table
shows the details of each event and when it changed state (5).

The following figure shows a Scorecard. Each row in the Scorecard represents a rat-
ed attribute that has data for the selected time range. The start time and end time is
determined by the longest period of time that an attribute was consecutively above
30%. The report will also indicate if an ATS device was not used in the test.

specified point in the hierarchy, complete with start and close dates. The following fig-
ure shows an example report.
15 minute intervals with more than one demand value are be averaged.
15 minute intervals with more than one consumption value are summed.
15 minute intervals with more than one cumulative consumption value uses the
largest value.
What does it contain? This report is simply a table of energy consumption data and
time stamps.
What does it contain? 15-minute interval trend data from the selected hierarchy node.
Reports written to a file share can be accessed by more than one person.
Many email systems have storage quotas set for user inboxes, and email reports
contain graphics that take up more space than a typical email.
To publish scheduled reports to a Windows File Share, you must first create a shared
folder somewhere in your Windows network and provide write access to that share
for an account specified for that scheduled report. For example, you can create a
share on your own computer and use your own Windows ID and password to access
it. This arrangement makes it possible for PXR users to publish reports of interest to
their own machines, making receiving reports a completely self-service arrangement.
You can also publish reports to a generally accessible file share either on the PXR
server or another machine. This arrangement makes it possible for a number of peo-
ple to easily access the same report. Again, you must specify a Windows ID and
password to access the file share.
When specifying a file share, you must use its Uniform Naming Convention (UNC)
path. A UNC path takes the form:
\\machine_name\shared_folder

Note
A report subscription automatically remembers the type of report from your current
report selection; however, it does not carry over any of the report filters that you've
chosen. You must set these in the subscription form.
3. Navigate to the report you wish to schedule. Press the New Subscription button
at the top of the page.
4. Under Report Delivery Options, select Windows File Share in the Delivered
by list.
5. In the File Name field, type in the name of the file. You can either add a file ex-
tension or, if you select Add a file extension when the file is created PXR will
automatically append a file extension based on your Render format selection.
For example, a PDF selection will then automatically create a file with a .pdf ex-
tension.
6. In the Path field, type the UNC path to the file share in which you will store report
files.
7. In the Render Format list, select the format to which PXR will export the report.
Available options are:
XML The report is exported using in XML 1.0 format, with
values broken down by table and chart elements.
CSV A comma-separated values file.
TIFF graphics file A multi-page .tif image of the report. You must use
an image viewer that supports multi-page TIFF files,
such as the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer.
PDF An Adobe PDF file of the report, suitable for archiving
or emailing.
Web page for IE 5.0 or later An HTML file optimized for Internet Explorer.
Web page for most browsers An HTML file that will display correctly in most popu-
lar web browsers.
Web archive The web archive is an MHTML file, which combines
the HTML and graphics from the report into a single
file that can be emailed or archived.
Microsoft Excel A multi-page Excel version of the report, complete
with graphics.
8. Type in a valid Windows User Name and Password that has access to the file
share. Even if the file share has been set with Full Control to Everyone, you
must specify a User Name and Password (this is a requirement of SQL Server
Reporting Services).
Note
Keep in mind that if the password changes for that account, you'll need
to change it here as well. Many IT groups have policies that require pe-
riodic password changes. If your IT group will allow it, a good way to
avoid maintaining this password is to create a Windows account specifi-
cally for this use and set its password to never expire.
9. Select one of the Overwrite options. You can select to overwrite an existing file,
so that the file share will only ever have the latest version of a report with this file
name. If you select Do not overwrite... and a report with that file name exists on
the file share, the new version of the report won't be written. Selecting to incre-
ment file names appends _n to the filename, where n is a number (starting with
1) that increments for each version of the report. This option ensures that all ver-
sions of the report are written, but keep in mind that this process will continue to
write reports per the schedule which will consume disk space.
10. Select one of the Subscription Processing Options. If you wish to set your
own schedule, click the Select Schedule button. You can specify period (Hour,
Day, Week, Month, or Once). You can also specify Start and end dates for the
report by clicking the calendar icons and selecting a date. You can toggle the
stop date on or off using the Stop this schedule on: check box.
You can also create Shared Schedules through the SQL Server Management
Studio. Shared Schedules are easier to maintain and update than a set of in-
dividual schedules. If one or more Shared Schedule exists, this option will be
available.
d. If you wish to change the priority marker for the email, select either Low or
High from the Priority field.
e. You can enter a brief message in the Comment field that will included with
each email.
9. Select one of the Subscription Processing Options. If you wish to set your
own schedule, click the Select Schedule button. You can specify period (Hour,
Day, Week, Month, or Once). You can also specify Start and end dates for the
report by clicking the calendar icons and selecting a date. You can toggle the
stop date on or off using the Stop this schedule on: check box.
You can also create Shared Schedules through the SQL Server Management
Studio. Shared Schedules are easier to maintain and update than a set of in-
dividual schedules. If one or more Shared Schedule exists, this option will be
available.
By device (and all of its child devices), through the Reporting Hierarchy.
You can edit any of your existing report schedules by clicking Schedule a Report on
the home page of the PXR report viewer. From this page, you can view details about
the various report subscriptions you've created, as well as edit or delete any sched-
ule.

You can access the reports web page, embedded in the PXS web application, by
clicking the blue Reporting button (bottom left). If the Reporting button is not visi-
ble, refer to PXS Installation and Deployment Guide for configuration instructions.
You can install the PXR Administration Utility from the Configuration menu. On
first access, the Administration Utility will be installed on your computer. For de-
tailed information concerning the Administration Utility, see the Power Xpert Re-
porting Administration Utility.
When you click the Reporting button, the device tree is replaced with a report tree.
This tree has the same report structure that you'd see when accessing the reports di-
rectly through a browser with report categories shown as folders and individual re-
ports shown under each category folder. Click a report to view it in the right pane of
the PXS web application.

How Do I Access Reports Via a Browser?
You must use the 32-bit versions Internet Explorer 8, 9, or the desktop version of
IE 10 to view PXR via a web browser. You'll need to know the machine name of the
server on PXR is installed. The preferred web address for PXR is:
http://your_pxr_server/PowerXpertReporting/ReportViewer.aspx
This is the URL for the PXR report viewer, and is the best choice for accessing re-
ports because:
The PXR web site can be deployed on a separate machine from the rest of PXR.
Thus, you can have the reporting web site accessible to the outside world while
keeping your SQL Server machines well protected.
The help system is accessible from this URL, but not from the SQL Server Report
Manager page.
The SQL Server Report Manager page is useful for scheduling reports or managing
security. You can access it at:

While some features may work in other browsers, such as Firefox, some fea-

Browser Settings
You should set Internet Explorer so that it automatically checks for a new version of a
web page when visited. This is typically how your browser will be set up, but if it isn't
you could see error messages when attempting to access the report viewer.
Authentication
If you're using Windows accounts to authenticate for reports, you can bypass the au-
thentication step by configuring Internet Explorer to automatically authenticate with
