THE DENISON-COLUMBUS

ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP
Denison Universitys new Denison-Columbus Alliance Scholarship is an annual $47,000 award
totaling $188,000 over four years. Each year, up to 20 high-achieving graduating seniors from high
schools in the Columbus City School system will be offered this scholarship, which covers the full
cost of tuition for all four years at Denison. It is offered in collaboration with Columbus City Schools
and its non-profit partner, I Know I Can.
Recipients of the scholarship are chosen based on their academic record,
extracurricular achievements and essays, as well as teacher and counselor
recommendations.

Scholarship requirements
Students graduating from a Columbus City Schools high school in the
Class of 2017 are invited to apply.
Strong preference will be given to applicants with a 3.5+ GPA or those who rank in the top 10
percent of their graduating class, having completed a rigorous academic curriculum.
Applicants must demonstrate leadership in their high school and/or community.
Denison University is a test-optional college. Students are not required to submit ACT or SAT
scores to apply for admission to Denison.

Scholarship highlights
All scholarship recipients are included in a pre-collegiate mentoring program, which takes
place between February and August of 2017.
Throughout their four-year collegiate career at Denison, all scholarship recipients experience
close mentoring with experienced Denison professors.
Recipients of the scholarship are guaranteed summer internship opportunities.
Also included is a peer mentoring program, in which trained upperclass students share insights,
knowledge and experiences with scholarship recipients.
