Today rarely sing. It takes this tradition. Sing many, but not sing. Seriously so that from the heart.

The reasons can be many here. Maybe Life goes sincerity, spontaneity. Maybe it takes a sense of

community people, so naturally expressed in the general singing. And in general people are used to a
different way to express their feelings.

Still singing - this is a special condition of the person. It arises naturally when the soul is overwhelmed

with feelings. Joy, sorrow, love for the country.

And it is a special singing generates a sense of gratitude. Thanks to God for the fact that we are not alone.

This is particularly noticeable in the temple, where many singing and other things, if not today, but finding
a path to the heart of each of us.

***

Sunday Gospel reading - eleven, and throughout the year they carefully, one by one, offered to us on
Sunday (from the point of view of modern man - Saturday) all-night, telling about the resurrection of the
Savior and His phenomena Myrrh-bearers and students. Scripture Readings are repeated in a circle. Every
12 weeks, the cycle begins again.

The Gospel is usually read in the middle of the temple, which render the Holy Book of the altar as of the
Holy Sepulcher. After reading the deacon holds the gospel , proclaiming the Angel, the news of the
resurrection of Christ. Worshipers bow to the Gospel, the disciples, and later kissed him as myrrhbearers,

and everyone sings "Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ" . Usually for beginners hard to tell the
difference at the beginning of two adjacent phrases "Behold Cross joy hath come around the world" and

"always blessing the Lord ..." but "lo bo" - is, in this case, "because (came through the Cross joy for all
world) "and" always. "- it is in church Slavonic" always " And certainly not worth listening to "theological

reasoning" grandmothers singing (and demanding it from others) "always come," or "behold, he cometh,"
as if Christ had not come yet and has not been raised!

But unfortunately we are still far from perfect. Therefore, according to Church regulations, immediately
after joyful songs " Resurrection beheld" is read (in the Trinity-Sergius example, sometimes sung)
penitential Psalm 50 , beginning with the words "Miserere". In practice, not all the temples of this psalm
reads, as is the custom in the past century. But this compound is the joy of finding God and sorrow for our

sinfulness is generally characteristic of Christianity.

Once a penitential psalm choir sings special verses calling for God to pardon us through the prayers of the

apostles and the Virgin, again repeated the initial verse of the 50th Psalm: "Have mercy on me, O God,
according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my

transgressions!"

Then all the faithful go to the middle of the church, kiss the Gospel, or the icon on the lectern, and the

priest paints with a brush on the forehead of each person sign of the cross sanctified oil - oil.

By the way, contrary to the opinion of many "competent parishioners," it's not anoint, but oil -
the oil usually smells. Miro - cooked a special way of the oil, and the fragrance ingredient -

used once in a lifetime when the sacrament of Confirmation, which connects today with the

sacrament of Baptism. Well, of course, still the kings of the world and the smear, but this is for
you and me is irrelevant.

We testify that the Old and New Testament - is an inseparable story of salvation of mankind, and the

resurrection of Christ - fulfillment of ancient prophecies. "Jesus is risen from the tomb, As proreche (t. E.

As the predicted), hath given to us eternal life (ie eternal life), and great mercy." "Great Grace", which
Christ provides the penitent, is the salvation of man, granted to all the faithful.

Some days and holidays, these verses are replaced by other hymns. For example, on the Sunday before
Lent vigils and fasting sung troparia special "Open to me the doors of repentance ..." , sets us on a fitting

welcome post.

But we do not just remember the once former events, but a grateful and honor the memory of those who,

being inspired by the message of the Resurrection, I changed my life beyond recognition, witnessed the

faith, holy.

As we have already said, people are not perfect. Someone in a hurry to go home, some for other reasons

in a hurry as soon as possible to come to the anointing, but in many churches, alas, creates some

crowding. And often the bustle and crush (thank God, if this is not your temple!) Completely falls out of

focus that is sung and read. Before parishioners engaged approach to the icon and anointing hear

excerpts read phrases and beautiful melodies of the choir.

And for good reason. Because at this time it is made one of the most important part of the morning - the

canon .

Canon - in Greek - means "rule, sample". This word has many meanings, but in common between them -

proportionality, the hierarchy of generally accepted.

Canon as a genre appeared in the VII century. This musical poetry composition consisting of 9 sections. In

Greek, they are called "Ode" in Slavonic - "songs". Each song is poetry paraphrase of certain passages in
the Old and New Testament, so-called Biblical songs sung in different periods of the history of the Old

Testament prophets and the righteous on the most great events in their life and the whole of Israel. And

their content was so important that through the centuries down to our days. This is evidence of the
highest religious animation, they make up the color of biblical poetry. In the style of the ancient text to the

lines of the original, over time, add "troparia" - short texts glorifying holidays or holy.

Each song canon consists of 14 troparia, interspersed with verses from the Bible. In practice,

on Sundays read four troparion with chorus "Glory, O Lord, holy Thy Resurrection," "Glory, O
Lord, Thy Cross fair and resurrection", "Most Holy Theotokos, save us", "Christ is risen from
the dead", "Glory you, our God, glory to thee "," Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me
" , etc.

Canon is divided into three parts - 1.3; 4,5,6 and 7,8,9 songs, interrupted by two litanies.

Each Canon celebrates a holiday or holy day. The canons Sunday is celebrated the Resurrection of Christ,

the victory over sin and death. The holiday canons details the meaning of the holiday and the life of a saint

as a model have already made transformation of the world.

Troparia canon read, and the opening verses of each of his songs are sung in chorus. These opening

verses are called "Irmos" (from the Greek. Associate). Irmos a rhythmic pattern for all subsequent troparia

this song and dedicated to the remembrance of certain events from the Old Testament, has a symbolic
significance for the New Testament.

For example, the text Irmos 1st song "ASIC to the Lord, nice bo glorified" recalls a wonderful passage of
the Jews through the Red Sea. God is glorified in him as Almighty deliverer from evil and slavery.

Irmos 2nd song is built on material accusatory songs of Moses in the wilderness (Deut. 32, 1-43), awakens
in the Jews escaped from Egypt's remorse, why is sung only on weekdays of Lent.

Irmos third song based on the song of thanksgiving of Anna, the mother of the prophet Samuel, for giving
her a son (1 Sam. 2: 1-11). "My heart is in the Lord, my horn is lifted up in God ... my legion is holy for the

Lord, and be righteous, Thou our God" . By the way, it is clear that we are not talking about this horn. Their
people were not in the Old Testament. Horn - is an allegory, a symbol of strength, power, faithful people

of God.

In Irmos 4th song is given a Christian interpretation of the phenomena of the prophet Habakkuk God in a

blaze of sunlight because of the wooded mountains. In this phenomenon, the Church sees the glory of the

coming of the Savior (Hab. 3: 1-19).

In the 5th Irmos canon motif which is taken from Isaiah, Christ praised as peacekeeper and it also

contains a prediction of the resurrection (Ex. 26). With the morning hymns, Lord we connect request to
send down to us in the world.

6th irmos - from the history of Jonah, who was thrown into the sea and swallowed by a whale. This event
reminds us of the immersion in the abyss of sin. This Irmos also expressed the idea that there is such a

calamity and horror among them would not have been heard a voice praying with all my heart (Ion. 2). We

thank the Lord for what He has not neglected us mired in sin, but came and rescued.

Heirmos 7 th and 8 th song canon based on the songs of three Jewish youths thrown into the fiery furnace

of Babylon. This event is also a description of Christian martyrdom.

7th song of the canon - solo song of thanksgiving of one of the three youths - Azariah (Who are the three

youths - you can read here ). Here frequent phrase: "Blessed art Thou, O Lord God of our fathers, and

praised and glorified is thy name for ever," "the whole are Thy truth," "God of our fathers," "God, blessed
art Thou."

8th canon of the song - a common song of the Three Children: Ananias, Azarias, Misaila.po essentially a

continuation of the previous song, for convenience allocated to individual songs. In Irmos 8th lyrics found
phrases: "Bless all the works of the Lord, the Lord," "Sing, praise and in all ages", "all creation bless the

Lord," "Christ bless forever", "constantly in all ages."

Between the 8 th and 9 th canon of songs in honor of the Mother of God is sung a song beginning with the

words , "My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced about Bose, my Savior" , with the refrain "

More honorable than the Cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim" .

Before that, the glorification of the Mother of God the deacon incenses the altar, and the right part of the

iconostasis. Then, standing in front of the icon of Our Lady of the iconostasis, he draws a censer sign of

the cross in the air and exclaims, "Mother of God and Mother of the Light, in the songs of magnify" and

then burn incense in all the temple.

9th song glorifies God in prayer Zechariah, father Ioanna Predtechi: "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel"

(Luke 1, 46-55, 68-80.).

After the canon, the last time on the Vigil heard Little Litany. On Sunday's All-Night Vigil, after a small litany

priest and deacon exclamation "Holy is the Lord our God." These same words are repeated three times in

unison.

As you can see, in worship many layers that have emerged at different times. Many meanings, verbal

treasury of theological and poetic richness of the Church.

And so sad when all this passes us. Us hungry for spiritual food, the Church offers a precious treasure for

the mind and soul salvation. But we rarely even notice it, seeing service as a kind of beautiful noise, like
time, which traditionally have to defend the temple.

Happy is the one who understands the meaning of what is happening in the church. It is included in
sacred history, not only intellectually, but also physically, sensibly continued joy and repentance ancient

saints.

Happy is he who sings from the depths of his grateful heart the song of God. Because it is not just a

repetition of the ancient words. This is evidence that our souls live overflowing feelings to God that we

worship and ritual - not just a pious tradition, and the song of our soul. Although much of our lives the

song, but this - the only important on the Earth song.
