Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

In order to continue my education courses at UNLV and obtain my Bachelors

degree in Elementary Education I have to pass the official Praxis Core Exam. There are

three different sections in this exam, Reading, Writing, and Math. To pass these exams I

will need to acquire the following qualifying scores: Reading 156, Writing 162, and Math

150.

Exam Preparation

Before I took the practice exams I did not do much studying. This was out of pure

curiosity of how difficult the tests would actually be without studying. I did do some

reading about the exams and their qualifying scores. I understand that before I take the

actual exams I will need to actually study and take as many practice tests as I can.

Exam Results

My results on the practice exams were a bit eye opening and also motivating. In

Reading I scored a 46% which mean I am in need of much improvement if I am going to

pass the Reading portion of the official exam. In Writing I scored a 75% which puts me at

a borderline position of passing the Writing portion of the official exam. Finally, I scored

a 72% in Math which again, places me at a borderline position to pass the official exam.

Future Exam Preparation

I will have a lot of preparing to do for the rest of the Summer semester and into

the Fall semester. Fall of 2017 will be my last semester at CSN before I head to UNLV. I
plan to register for the Praxis Core Review courses at CSN. I also plan to utilize the free

tutoring centers at CSN for Math, Reading, and Writing as I have in the past. The website

provided by Professor Wyckoff also provides many pages and online programs that are

specifically used for preparation for the official Praxis Core Exams. This exam is

important to my future career as an educator. When the time comes for the official exams

I want to have done all that I can to ensure I pass with flying colors.
