Installation of
Oracle Application
Server 10g

1. Login to the server where you want to install Oracle Application Server (OAS)
2. Insert and mount the OAS media
3. Check the file system where more free space is available to install OAS
4. Create a user like ora10gas (10g = Ver / a = application / s = server)
5. Create a folder namely ora10gas and give full file permission
6. Open X Manager and open a terminal
7. Switch to user ora10gas
8. Export the display to local system (export DISPLAY=10.X.X.X:1.0)
9. Go to installation path and find the .runInstaller
10. Execute .runInstaller
11. Specify the Oracle installation Directory in the space provided and also select
Advance installation mode and click on Next to continue.

12. Click on Yes to continue.

13. Select the first option J2EE Server and Process Management and click on next

14. Minimum 512 MB Free Space is required in /tmp, ensure that and if it is less
make clear some files up to 512 MB free space

15. Select Automatic for Port Configuration, however if you need to customize the
port number you can give manual and specify the port number which ever you
want.

16. Give an instance name, admin password for that instance and click on next

17. Select Configure this as an Administration OC4J instance and click on Next

18. No changes required here, click on Next to continue

19. Click on Install to continue the installation

20. After the completion of installation you need to execute a shell script which will
be at Oracle home path. Only after executing that root.sh file click on OK.

21. Press Y to Overwrite and proceed with the installation

22. Copy the contents of Please remember section to a notepad and save it, because
all the details of installed path and ports will be given in this. Click on Exit after
in installation. Click on Yes when it prompts to exit.

Applying Patch 10.1.3.3.0

1. Login to the server where you want to install Oracle Application Server (OAS)
2. Insert and mount the OAS media
3. Check the file system where more free space is available to install OAS
4. Create a user like ora10gas (10g = Ver / a = application / s = server)
5. Create a folder namely ora10gas and give full file permission
6. Open X Manager and open a terminal
7. Switch to user ora10gas
8. Export the display to local system (export DISPLAY=10.X.X.X:1.0)
9. Go to installation path and find the .runInstaller
10. Execute .runInstaller

11. Click on Next to continue

12. Most important is to select the Destination path correctly. Specify the destination
path where you have already installed the OAS and lick on next to continue.

14. Provide the correct password which you have given earlier while installing OAS

15. Click on OK and proceed with the installation

16. Click on Install to proceed with the installation

17. Before clicking on OK, run the root.sh script which will be there at Oracle home
path. After the execution of that file, click on OK

18. Now its the end of the installation. Click on Exit to come of the installation.
