Derrick Okine is my name. I come from Ghana in West Africa. I am

married to Theodora, and we have two sons, Albert and Derrick.
Derrick is in first year of college and Albert will be an eighth grader
in the Sioux City North middle school.

I have always had a passion for Gods work. By Gods grace, in Africa I was a team member
of two Methodist church planting. Over here in Sioux City I was a founding member of the
Native African Christian Fellowship in the Sioux City First United Methodist Church.

Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City is my home church, and fortunately in the last
year I was appointed as a quarter time pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church at Akron,
IA. This was a wonderful experience serving at Akron, visiting church members at nursing
homes and care centers. I wish I had more time to build relationships in the community and
engage in community development. Hopefully, my appointment at Primghar-Archer will af-
ford me the opportunity to learn more about relationship building, stewardship and leadership.

I studied for the Master of Divinity at the Methodist Theological Seminary (MTS) in South
Korea, and completed in February 2006. During this time, I joined the MTS mission team,
and we went on mission trips to Singapore and Malaysia.

My desire for the work of God has led me to a lot of countries, such as Russia, Japan, Mexico,
Costa Rica, Denmark, Austria and finally the United States of America. I trust that in
Primghar-Archer I will learn to reflect on my challenges and roadblocks, in order to seize the
opportunity to show the glory of God. I have learnt that if Jewish refugees in Babylon could
unpack, raise their children and seek the peace of Babylon, how much more could I be ex-
pected to do this in Primghar-Archer and be blessed by God?
