My name is Kenan Kahvi. I come from Teanj.

I study in Sarajevo, and this is my third year

here. I am a student at Faculty of Political Science, International relations and diplomacy
department. I found out about this project through a friend of mine, Jenifer- that I have
accidently met. This project means a lot for me, and I think that after this project, I will look
at things from a whole another perspective. I will look differently at some things, about peace
projecting in Bosnia and Herzegovina, how strangers help us about peace making, and that
we, people of Bosnia and Herzegovina should do the same. This is my first picture. This is
the view from my apartment. The very first thing that I do in the morning, is that I look from
my apartment's window. The second picture is a picture of a park. This park looks like a
regular one, but it sure isn't just regular for me. I can see people that can normally walk and
talk, without any fear of grenades falling onto them, like in 1992 and 1995. The next photo is
a picture of a stadium of football club eljezniar. And this is also not a regular stadium. This
picture shows how this stadium was heavily damaged during the war, and was repaired after
the war. I was actively training football for 10 years, until I have enrolled in faculty. I think
that sport is a tool that can help us build peace and love. My last photo is a picture of a
mosque. It represents my culture, and my identity. I was raised in a Muslim spirit and
environment . Islam is religion of peace and love, and acceptance, unlike the media is
showing it today. I am 21 years old. I am a war child, but I still havent felt the dreadfulness
of war. But my parents did. My opinion is that Bosnia and Herzegovina should function with
youth. Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina are very intelligent and extremely potential, but
they cannot fulfil this potential because of the unhealthy environment that they are living in. I
hope that we, young people can lead this country, and make this country equal for everyone,
without any references to religion and nationality. I would like to finish my faculty, because I
am on my last year, and I hope I will get my diploma. I want to continue my education, with
master degree and, who knows, maybe P.H.D. Education is important for me, because I can
learn many things that I dont know, and how to behave in a good way, to help the society
with my knowledge and my effort. I am very sorry because many intelligent people that I
know that dont have this capability and options, because of the financial problems of their
problems. I hope that I can help some day with my knowledge to motivate young people to
go after their dreams and education. We need changes in the core functioning of our country.
I think that we must erase our concepts about our past, and think forward, look forward to the
future. Photography can change the way we think and act, photography can show that we can
function together. Photography can show that the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina is over.
Even that too many people were killed, so many innocent children were brutally murdered,
our lives must go on. We should never forget the past, but we must be keen on moving
forward. Responsibility for our state condition- I think we need to start with the changes
individually. We need to start from ourselves. If our thinking is positive, we need to carry
that positive thinking to the next person. And I think that while the time will past, we will
start to function as one body. Even many bad things happened, we, young people are sick of
this present bad things, and it is up to us, to make positive changes and to move on.
