Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.
What is the teacher doing
What is the student doing?
Students will watch a BrainPop video over the periodic elements. After the students watch the video they will
take a class quiz over the BrainPop video (provided by BrainPop). The students will then get into groups of
four and put together a make-a-map(provided by BrainPop) about the atom. Next each student will then
receive a periodic table and chose an element that they want to research. Once they student has picked their
element they will have to do a research project on their element (every student must have a different
element). The student can present their research via podcast, Powerpoint, webpage, prezi, ect. Students will
be given a rubric to indicated what needs to be included in their research project.
