Colorado Springs, CO, June 30, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Larry G. Floren of Colorado Springs, Colorado has
been honored as a Professional of the Year for 2017 by Strathmore's Who's Who Worldwide for his
outstanding contributions and achievements for over 30 years in the fields of aerospace and defense.
While obtaining a M.B.A. in Business Administration, Colonel Floren also obtained a M.S. in Logistics
from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1984. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff
College and the Program and Project Management Courses in Ft. Lee, Virginia. He earned his
Acquisition Certification from the Defense System Management College in Ft. Eustis, Virginia in 1988.
This certification was a culmination of 15 years of civilian education and military logistics experience in
program procurement and Defense graduate schools. Colonel Floren is a member of the Association of
the United States Army, a life member of the Quartermaster Chapter, Fort Lee, Virginia, a member of the
V.F.W., a life member of the American Legion, and a life member of M.O.A.A. He drafted a tactics,
techniques & procedures (TTP) manual that is available in the library at Ft. Lee, Virginia. It continues to
be one of the most desired documents for combat support and supply units in training.
Colonel Floren's awards and decorations include the legion of Merit (Desert Storm), the Bronze Star
(Vietnam), two Meritorious Service Medals, Cold War Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army
Achievement Medal w/1 bronze star, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 bronze service stars, Republic of
Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 6 Device, Overseas Service Ribbon, Vietnam Civil Action Ribbon, Honor
Medal-First Class, Vietnam War Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve
Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, and Department of Defense Cold War Certificate. He was
conferred the shield of Saint Martin (a very high honor for logisticians). This esteemed Order was issued
in 2004 by the 48th Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army during a ceremony on 15 April, 2004.
Colonel Floren was inducted into the American War Library in December 2011. The War Library is a
searchable database of valor award citations collected by DATA from official DD 214 Documents. All
recipients in the database are verified by source material such as official award citations, narratives and
/or synopses from individuals or records from the National Archives.
Larry joined the Montana National Guard in Kalispell, Montana in 1964. He graduated from Montana
Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1966. In 1969, he attended Armor Officer Basic Course in Fort Knox,
Kentucky. In 1970, he was ordered to active duty with assignment to Fort Carson, Colorado as a Platoon

Leader on the 3/77 Armor Battalion. In 1971, he was assigned as Officer in Charge of the Jungle
Operation Course in Panama Canal, prior to assignment in Vietnam. As an experienced Commander in
the field and multi functional logistician, Colonel Floren assisted the military by providing general and/or
logistics expertise to numerous major operations from 1971-1992.
After retirement from the Army, Colonel Floren led a team of experts to include Army Generals, Field
and Company Grade Officers and Sergeant Majors in training Army Operations and Support
Battalions/Brigades at the National Training Center and throughout the U.S. from 2000 to 2008, prior to
the their deployment to Iraq. Training included support with logistics, Military Police, Field Artillery,
Armor, Infantry and Aviation operation scenarios.
Larry resides with his wife, Jackie. They have five children and nine grandchildren. In his retirement,
Larry enjoys family activities, travel and custom cars.
Colonel Floren encountered many obstacles in past assignments and needed to keep a positive attitude,
especially in Vietnam. He used this Navy command to help provide needed courage and to keep a
positive attitude, "Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead."
