 OPERATING SYSTEM
Operating system is most vital software which runs in the computer which supports the basic
functions. It manages the components of the computer, hardware and software. Like it takes
input from keyboard, process it, gives output to console and control the peripherals of the
computer such as disk drivers and printers. It also helps application software to run on the
computer. Operating system is an in-between program and computer hardware. Operating
system can be in any devices like cellular phones, games, supercomputers or webservers etc.

In big systems, the operating system manages that different software running at the same time
do not interfere in each other and it is also responsible for security. Operating system ensures
that unauthorized user may not access the computer.

MULTI-USER:

It allows one or two users to run software at the same time. Some operating system
allows hundreds and thousands of users to at the same time.

MULTI-PROCESSING:

It allows operating system to run the software on one or more CPU

MULTI-TASKING:

It allows users to do multiple tasks. Users can perform more than one task at the same
time.

MULTI-THREADING:

It allows the different parts of single program to at the same time in the computer.

DISTRIBUTED:

It manages the group of independent computers and make them appear in single
computer. They work together with co-operation.

REAL TIME:

It replies to input immediately. They are multi-purpose operating system, for example
DOS and UNIX.

ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM

Android operating system is basically used in mobile phones like smart phones, touch phones
and tablet pc developed by Google based on Linux. Google has designed this operating
system especially for minicomputers. Android interface is built on direct handling It takes
input by touching, pinching, swiping etc.

Nowadays Android is mostly used in mobile phones. It was founded by Palo Alto at
California U.s and then was acquired by Google. It is very powerful operating system; many
applications can be downloaded in this system. Android is based on ARM architecture
platform. It has an android market which provides all the applications. It also has a status bar
which shows the information about its connectivity. Its features are as follows:
