Theelectrohydraulicsystem'soillevelislow.

Theelectricalcircuitfortheelectrohydraulicoilpressureswitchisopen.

Thereisanopencircuitinthewiringharnessbetweentheelectrohydraulicoilpressureswitchandthe
ElectronicControlModule(ECM).

Theoilpressurefortheelectrohydraulicsystemisinsufficient.

RecommendedRepairs
ChecktheElectrohydraulicSystem'sOilLevel

Observetheelectrohydraulicsystem'soillevelinthesightgaugeonthetank.

Ifnecessary,pouroilintothetankuntiltheoillevelisbetweenthe"ADD"and"FULL"marksonthesight
gauge.

Checkforoilleaks.

OpenCircuitfortheElectrohydraulicOilPressureSwitch

Theelectrohydraulicoilpressureswitchmustremainclosedwhiletheengineisrunning.Iftheswitchopens
formorethanonesecond,an"E266(3)"eventcodeisgeneratedandtheengineisshutdown.

Theswitchopensat700103kPa(10215psi).Theswitchclosesat1206kPa(175psi).

Checkforproperoperationoftheswitch.Applyaknownpressuretotheelectrohydraulicsystem.Whileyou
applythepressure,useaohmmetertoobservethestatusofthecontactfortheswitchbetweenpinAandpin
B.Iftheswitchdoesnotfunctionproperly,replacetheswitch.

OpenCircuitintheWiringHarness

Usethefollowingproceduretochecktheharness.Donotoperatetheengineduringthisprocedure.

1.SettheenginecontroltotheSTOPmode.

2.UsetheCaterpillarElectronicTechnician(ET)toobservethe"HydraxPressureSwitchStatus".

Thestatusoftheswitchshouldbe"Open".

3.Disconnectthe3pinconnectorattheelectrohydraulicoilpressureswitch.

4.AttachajumperwirebetweenpinAandpinBontheharnessconnector.

5.UseCatETtoobservethe"HydraxPressureSwitchStatus".

Thestatusoftheswitchshouldbe"Closed".

6.Continuetoobservethe"HydraxPressureSwitchStatus".Wiggletheyellowwireandpullonthewire
fromtheharnessconnectortotheECMP2connector.

Thestatusoftheswitchshouldstillbe"Closed".

Ifthe"HydraxPressureSwitchStatus"momentarilychangesto"Open",theharnesshasan
intermittentcircuit.

Ifthereisanintermittentcircuit,locatetheproblem.Makerepairstotheharness,whenpossible.Afterthe
harnessisrepaired,removethejumperwirefromthe3pinconnector.Reconnecttheconnector.

Iftheharnesscannotberepaired,replacetheharness.

ChecktheOilPressureoftheElectrohydraulicSystem
Theelectrohydraulicoilpressureswitchisdesignedtocloseat1206kPa(175psi).Theswitchisdesignedto
openat700103kPa(10215psi).Theswitchmustremainclosedduringengineoperation.Useagauge
tochecktheoilpressureoftheelectrohydraulicsystemattheoutletforthehydraulicpumpwhiletheengine
iscrankingorrunning.Checkthepressurewhiletheengineisatnormaloperatingtemperature,when
possible.

Ifthepressureislessthan1206kPa(175psi),inspecttheelectrohydraulicsystemforleaks.Inspectthe
hydraulicpump.Makerepairs,asneeded.
