WAN Setup
Vigor 3300Bplus has 3 WAN interfaces, Vigor 3300 and Vigor 3300V both have 4 WAN
interfaces. Below we will take Vigor 3300V for an example and introduce the settings for
different types of Internet access, including Static, DHCP, PPPoE and PPTP. Also we will
introduce the settings of Load Balance and Backup.
Please enter the Network WAN page and click the Edit icon of WAN1.
Note: Vigor 3300B plus does not have WAN4. Only Vigor 3300V has VoIP function.
Now IP Mode is Static. If just one single WAN is used, please click Active and Default
Route option. After clicking the Apply button, the router will enter the reboot page.
Please wait about 70 seconds, and then the router will automatically switch to the
System Status page.
We will complete the settings for the left three WAN interfaces. The procedures are
similar with the WAN1 setting. We will introduce the Load Balance and Backup functions
based on these settings.
Note: Users does not need to fill the Host Name and Domain Name if they are not
required by your ISP.
Note: The User Name and Password options are case sensitive (Case sensitive means
the small and capital letters in your password are not the same).
Note: The User Name and Password options are case sensitive (Case sensitive means

Auto Weight uses the Downstream Rate/Upstream Rate set in WAN as primary number
for assignment. The more bandwidth increases, the more proportion of usage. It is
automatically assigned.
Note: The qualification of activating the traffic control and management for QoS also
use the numbers of Downstream / Upstream Rate.
If you do not want to use Auto Weight, you must assign the proportion by yourself from
the pull-down menu of Weight. The total percentage values must equal to 100%. Now the
assignment is based on this manual setting, not the Downstream / Upstream Rate.
Click the Apply button and then the router will reboot for a while to switch to the
System Status page. Please click WAN Status to check if the connections are normal.
IP Address
It displays the WAN IP address.
Connection Status
The status of Connected indicates that it is online, Disconnected indicates that it is
offline. However, if the interface is set as Static mode, the status is always as Connected.
Up Time
It shows the time period under Connected status (After Disconnected it will be reset to
be 0).
Disconnect/Connect button
This button works only when IP Mode is PPPoE or PPTP. Users can manually drop and
dial the connection.
Vigor 3300 has a detecting mechanism for WAN interface at regular intervals (by
detecting the connection with gateway). If the WAN interface is offline, router will
disconnect this line to ensure the normal function when Load Balance function is enabled
(The packets will not be passed through the disconnected line).
Under offline status, Vigor 3300 always detects whether the WAN interface can be online
again or not automatically and Vigor 3300 will connect the line again if detects
successfully. But this mechanism will not work after the line is manually dropped
(Disconnect button), and work again until the line is manually connected again
(Connect button).
Suppose there are two PPPoE lines (charge per month) connected to WAN1 and WAN2
respectively. WAN1 has more Upstream bandwidth than WAN2. The proportion is set to
80% and 20%. The VoIP uses WAN2.
First of all, please configure the WAN1 and WAN2 interfaces (You may refer to the
WAN configuration as an example), then Enable Load Balance. For the other settings
please refer to the below figure. Press the Apply button to save the configuration and
reboot the system.
Enter the System Status page after rebooting, and then click WAN Status, the
Connection Status only WAN1 shows connected.
WAN2 will not be automatically connected until WAN1 is disconnected. (Vigor 3300 still
detect even WAN1 is offline.) And after WAN1 is connected again, WAN2 will be
disconnected automatically (If you click Disconnect for the Master, the Slave will be
connected again. Master will not be connected until the Slave is disconnected or you
manually press Connect for the Master).
Suppose there are one Static IP line (charge per month) and the other PPPoE line (charge
per minute/second) connected to WAN1 and WAN2 respectively. User wants to use
WAN2 PPPoE line as backup. WAN2 will not be automatically connected until WAN1 is
offline, and WAN2 will be automatically disconnected when the connection of WAN1
comes back.
First of all, please configure the WAN1 and WAN2 interfaces (You may refer to the
WAN configuration as an example), then Enable the Backup function. For the other
settings please refer to the below figure. Click the Apply button to save the configuration
and reboot the system.
Note: When user enables Backup function, please always select WAN1 as the master
interface.
Suppose there are two PPPoE lines (charge per month) and a PPTP line(charge per
minute/second) connected to WAN1, WAN2 and WAN3 respectively. Normally only
WAN1 and WAN2 are used (Auto Weight). WAN3 won't be automatically connected
until WAN2 is offline, and WAN3 will be automatically disconnected when the
connection of WAN2 comes back. The VoIP uses WAN1.
First of all, please configure the WAN1, WAN2 and WAN3 (You may refer to the WAN
configuration as an example), then Enable the Load Balance and Backup functions. For
the other settings please refer to the below figure. Click the Apply button to save the
configuration and reboot the system.
