This is the first pattern I've ever created. It's very exciting and I get to flex my creative muscle.
I've always liked Growlithe and since I've made other quadrupeds I thought I could modify those
into Growlithe. Anyway, enjoy this pattern!

F/O
Cut many 3 inch strips of cream coloured yarn. Fold each strand of yarn in half. Hook the folded
strands through the stitches in the base of the mane. Draw the ends of the strand through the loop
and pull it tight. This is a very tedious process but makes an excellent looking mane.
Assembly:
To assemble everything, I highly suggest pinning the pieces together to position everything
before actually sewing it together.
1) Attached the head to the body with the yarn tail. I used a whip stitch.
2) Position the belly piece so it goes from the base of the head to the middle of what will be
Growlithe's backside. Sew the belly into place. I just weave in and out of the two pieces with
the cream coloured yarn tail.
3) Put the safety nose into position on the muzzle. I put the nose in the between Rnd 3 & 4. If
you do not have a safety nose, you can whop stitch a triangular nose instead.
4) Attach the muzzle to the head. It needs to meet with the belly piece near the base of the neck
and stretch out across the head. As the muzzle is being attached stuff and shape it. I ended up
weaving in and out of both pieces with the cream coloured yarn.
5) Attach the legs to the body with the yarn tails. Half of each leg should overlap the belly
portion. I used the whip stitch again. Stuff the shoulder portion and shape the legs as they are
being attached. Also, the front legs should have the black 'V' pattern facing forwards while
the back legs should have the double black stripe facing backwards.
6) Attach the tail to the middle of the backside of the body where the while belly stripe ends
using the cream yarn tail. Ensure that the tail fold is facing down.
7) Trace the shape of the ears on brown felt. Cut the felt a stitch height smaller that the ears and
sew onto them. This creates the inner ear and the orange outline.
8) Attach the ears to the side of the head with the yarn tails. Ensure they are positioned above
the end of the muzzle on either side of the head.
9) Attach the mane with the cream yarn tail in the middle between the ears. The tip of the mane
(this is the point rather than the rounded side of the base) should be positioned around Rnd 4,
5, or 6 depending on the size of the head.
10) Attach the black stripes opposite to the belly side of the main body. Ensure that the come
down evenly on both sides.
11) Cut the shapes for the eyes out of the white and black felt. You will need a larger oval shape
for the whites, a smaller black oval for the pupils, and a tiny white oval for the shine. I just
layered the pieces of the eye on top of each other and sewed them together.
12) Sew the eyes onto the face. They need to be positioned so the base of the eye touchs the
muzzle and either side of the nose peak.
13) Using black yarn, sew on a mouth, eyebrows and the lines for the paws on the back legs. For
the mouth I sewed a large piece of yarn to go across the muzzle then smaller loops wrap
around the yarn and hold it into the position I wanted. The eyebrows are just straight loops of
yarn I sewed through the head. The paws are spaced about 2 stitched apart and are just
straight pieces of yarn again.
14) For the tuff of hair in the front of the chest part, I took more 3 inch pieces of cream yarn and
weaved them through the top 2 rows of stitches on the belly like I did for the mane.
15) I ended up adding little paw pads in brown felt to the bottom of each leg. Its not necessary
but the Pokemon wiki I read about each one said Growlithe had paw pads.
Also, Id like to thank all the other great hookers out there for posting their patterns for free.
Without all the practice and ideas they had, I wouldnt have been able to learn as much as I did
to make this pattern.
