Draper Deck

Removal

NOTE: Right side shown, Left side similar.

1. Raise the reel and engage the reel supports. 1

2. Once you have determined which deck needs to 1

be removed, measure the opening size as you
will need this measurement for reinstallation of
the deck.

3. Loosen the draper and remove it from the deck

requiring removal.

4. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses (1) from the

hydraulic draper drive motor on the deck that is RR06N245

being removed. DISCONNECT HYDRAULIC HOSES

5. Remove the bolts (2) that hold the two outer deck
casting supports at the end of the deck closest to
the cutter bar.

NOTE: If the Header is 30 foot or longer there will be

a third support in the middle of the deck that will also
need to have the bolts loosened. 2

6. Remove the two deck locks (3). They are located
on either side of the back sheet close to the
ends.

Feed Draper Relief

If the hydraulic pressure on the feed draper motor
should exceed 1200 psi, V3 will open and all the oil V6 S2T
will bypass the feed draper motor. This means that
the feed draper will stop turning, however, both side V1
drapers will continue to operate normally.

To test relief the pressure of V3 refer to Checking

Relief and Flow - Feed Draper in this Section of the
manual. S1

REVERSE OPERATION
When the Combines feeder housing is engaged in
reverse operation, the jackshaft will operate in V6
reverse. This will run both the piston pump and gear V1
pump in reverse.

NOTE: Although the piston pump can run in reverse

from 180 to 500 rpm, it does not pump any oil in
reverse.
S2
The gear pump will supply oil (at 2 gpm) into the V5
valve block at port S2. The oil will then enter the
valve block and pressurize V1, closing it completely.
If valve V1 is not fully closed, oil will be allowed into V7
the reservoir tank before travelling through the P
adapter and will not develop sufficient pressure to
operate the feed draper in reverse. RR06N300

With V1 closed oil will be forced through V2 and

up towards the V4 and V5 valves. When operating V4
in reverse the logic valve V4 takes its pilot pressure
fr o m th e r e t ur n l i ne, w hi c h o nl y o pe ra te s a t
approximately 10 psi. Since V4 requires 70 psi of
pressure to open, it will remain closed while the M1
Adapter operates in reverse.

With both V4 and V1 closed, the hydraulic oil will

be forced out port M2 through the draper drive
motor and will then re-enter the block at port M1. M2
The oil will flow directly through the block and will exit
V2
at port P and supply the gear pump with oil.

To make sure there is sufficient oil in the hydraulic

RR06N301
system, a supply line, which is teed in between the
gear pump and port P on the valve block, allows the VALVE BLOCK
gear pump to draw in make-up oil while operating in
reverse. This prevents the pump from cavitating.

Relief Pressure
If the system pressure exceeds 2500 psi, the relief
valve V5 will open and oil will flow back to the tank,
by-passing the feed draper motor. This means the
feed draper motor will not turn when the system
pressure exceeds 2500 psi.

To test-relief the pressure of V5, refer to Checking

Relief and Flow - Side Draper in this section of the
manual.

Combine Adapter Hydraulic Pressure Test

Follow the procedure below to test draper pressures
on the Combine Adapter SD

1. Run adapter and/or Header for 10 minutes to

warm up oil.

2. Lower Header to the ground and extend center V5

link as far as possible.

3. Remove plug and install 5000 PSI pressure

gauge into port (PT) on front valve block. (This
will be the feed draper relief pressure in forward
operation).

4. Remove the steel cover off the rear of the

Adapter exposing the hydraulic filter and valve
S2
block.
RR09D022
5. Remove plug and install 5000 PSI pressure
gauge into port (S2) on rear of block. (This will be
the feed draper relief pressure in reverse V3
operation).

6. Remove plug and install 5000 PSI pressure

gauge into port (SD) on top of block. (This will be
the side draper operating pressure in forward
operation). PT
7. Install draper clamp on Right side of feed draper
drive roller as shown in the illustration on the
Next Page.

8. Engage Header in reverse at low idle.

RR09D021

9. Make sure clamp has not moved and is stalling

out feed draper.
