Thefirstimpressionthattheprintergaveuswasthatthisprojectwasgoingtobehard,reallyhardandwehave
to put a great deal of work on decoding its operations. After the first move that we made we only saw rollers,
cartridge,printheaddrivers,spittoonandlotofotherpartsadequateenoughtogiveusabadheadache.

It tells the printer how far has the paper travelled inside it. By counting the number of black lines that were
crossed, the encoder can determine the number of degrees that the encoder gear turned. Using this and by
knowing the size of the gears the main circuit board can determine the distance that the sheet of paper has
traveledinsidetheprinter.

Whenyouclicktheprintoption,asequenceofstepstakeplace:
Theprinterapplicationsendsthemessagetothedevicedriver[http://computer.howstuffworks.com/scanner4.htm] .
Thedriverdeliversthecommandandcheckswhethertheprinterisonlineornot.

Thedataissentbythedriverfromthecomputertotheprinterwiththehelpofcables.

Theprinterreceivesthedatafromthecomputer.Itstoresacertainamountofdatainabuffer,Alocationin

theprintermemorythatholdsdatathathasbeensenttothecomputerprintertoprint.
Whenweusetheprinterafteracertaintime,itgoesthroughacycletomakesurethattheprintheadsare

cleanwiththehelpofcleanerunit.Oncethecleancycleiscomplete,theprinterisreadytobeginprinting.
Thenthethepaperfeedmotorgetsactivated.Thisengagestherollers,whichfeedasheetofpaperfromthe

papertrayintotheprinter.Asmalltriggermechanisminthetrayisdepressedwhenthereispaperinthetray.
Ifthetriggerisnotdepressed,theprintersendsupthe"OutofPaper"prompttothecomputer.
Oncethepaperisfedintotheprinterandpositionedatthestartofthepage,thecartridgecradlemotor

usesthebelttomovetheprintheadassemblyacrossthepage.
Multipledotsaremadeateachstop.ItspraystheCMYK(CyanMagentaYellowblacK)colorandproduces

thecoloursbycombinations.
At the end of each complete pass, the paper feed motor advances the paper a fraction of an inch.The

cartridgecradleisresettothebeginningsideofthepagebythecradlemotor.
Thisprocesscontinuesuntilthepageisprinted.Thetimeittakestoprintapagecanvarywidelyfromprinter

toprinter.Itwillalsovarybasedonthecomplexityofthepageandsizeofanyimagesonthepage.
Once the printing is complete, the print head is cleaned by cleaner unit and then parked. The paper feed

motorspinstherollerstofinishpushingthecompletedpageintotheoutputtray.
