Global Warming: News, Facts, Causes &

Effects
Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average
temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to
be permanently changing the Earths climate. There is great debate among many
people, and sometimes in the news, on whether global warming is real (some call it
a hoax). But climate scientists looking at the data and facts agree the planet is
warming. While many view the effects of global warming to be more substantial
and more rapidly occurring than others do, the scientific consensus on climatic
changes related to global warming is that the average temperature of the Earth has
risen between 0.4 and 0.8 C over the past 100 years. The increased volumes of
carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released by the burning of fossil fuels,
land clearing, agriculture, and other human activities, are believed to be the
primary sources of the global warming that has occurred over the past 50 years.
Scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate carrying out global
warming research have recently predicted that average global temperatures could
increase between 1.4 and 5.8 C by the year 2100. Changes resulting from global
warming may include rising sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps, as
well as an increase in occurrence and severity of storms and other severe weather
events.

Global warming is the gradual heating of Earth's surface, oceans and atmosphere. Scientists
have documented the rise in average temperatures worldwide since the late 1800s

These images show the five-year average variation of global surface temperatures in 1884, 1927, 1969 and
2012. Dark blue indicates areas cooler than average. Dark red indicates areas warmer than average.
What is Global Warming?
Imagine being stuck in a icy cold hut in Alaska. You light up a fire using wood and
soon the hut gets warm. But if you light a very strong fire, the hut will get very hot
and make you uncomfortable. So also if our Earth gets too hot, we would not like it.

Global warming is the rising of the Earths atmospheric temperature. Our Earth is
enveloped with a natural warm blanket that protects us from the harsh rays of the
sun and allows for the nights to be cool. This atmosphere is made of green house
gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, ozone and environmental pollution.
Pollution contains harmful gases like the waste from animals and fossil fuels.

The suns rays penetrate the Earths atmosphere and the Earth reflects back heat
energy. Some of this energy gets stuck in our Earth and makes the Earth warm.
This is natural greenhouse effect.
Causes of Global Warming
After the Industrial Revolution, we started using more energy in devices like car
engines and power plants. Where do we get this energy from? Mostly fossil fuels
like coal. Carbon dioxide is produced when we burn fossil fuels. This carbon
dioxide floats up and increases the greenhouse effect.

Effects of Global Warming

Icebergs and glaciers will get heated up, causing land slides, flooding and rivers will dry
up.
Tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts and more natural calamities will occur.
Animals will not be able to withstand the heat and will die.
Crops will wither and die.
Prevention of Global Warming What can I do?
Reduce, reuse, and recycle
Use energy saving lamps
Switch off lights/electronic devices when not in use
Recepcionist: Welcome, what can i do for you?

Woman: Hello my husband made a reservation for the suite last month

Recepcionist: Ok, let me check the computer, which is your husband's name
please?

Woman: Inventatetuelnombre

Recepcionist: Could you spell it?

Woman: d-e-l-e-t-r-e-a-e-l-n-o-m-b-r-e

Recepcionist: Mmmmhh... i can't find him, there's must be a mistake

Man(arriving): What is taking so long darling?

Woman: It seems like they don't have the reservation

Man: that's impossible, i did that reservation myself a moth ago

Recepcionist: Do you remember the name of the person who talked with you?

Man: Uhm... something like Johnson

Recepcionist: Ok, let me check again...........alrigth here it is mister

(elnombrequeinventaste) It was mispelled, sorry. Here is your key

Man: Not a problem, thanks
