1 Introduction
1.1 Purpose
The intent of this document is to provide the procedure for using SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) in
the detailed engineering phase of the EKOL Accommodation Platform Topside & Bridges
project.
1.2 References
The SPPID Queries revisions used in preparing this work procedure are:
SPPID Queries 13Sep
SPPID Queries B 04Oct
SPPID Queries C 15Nov
SPPID Queries D 07Dec
SPPID Queries E (current working copy)
1.4.1 P&IDs
SPPID will be used to create Process P&IDs (discipline code U) and Safety P&IDs (discipline
code F), as discussed in TQ SMO-EKOL-Q-0054. Sanitary P&IDs (discipline code H) and HVAC
P&IDs (discipline code H) will be created in AutoCAD.
As discussed in SPPID query #11, Process Datasheets will be prepared totally in the
conventional way of MS Excel and will not be generated from SPPID.
2 Execution Workflow
ADMINISTRATOR ADMINISTRATOR ADMINISTRATOR plans
customizes drawing develops SPPID Work security roles for users
template according to Procedure (this document)
COMPANY requirement
ADMINISTRATOR places ENGINEER (LEGEND) ADMINISTRATOR closes
symbol in the SPPID includes new symbol in query upon availability of
database and informs General Legend and new SPPID symbol and
DESIGNER on the folder ENGINEER adds new informs ENGINEER
location symbol to draft P&ID (LEGEND)/ ENGINEER
ENGINEER gives red-line DESIGNER draws P&ID
New P&ID marked P&ID and (equipment, instrument,
Revision modification to line data to process line, valves etc)
DESIGNER
ENGINEER checks P&ID DESIGNER prints P&ID DESIGNER inputs data
and Line List and generates Line List (equipment/instrument tag
(partial report) [HOLD for number, process line
confirmation] properties, etc)
Engineer provides DESIGNER incorporates P&ID and Line List are
comments to DESIGNER comments (if necessary) ready
(if necessary)
3 General
Only administrators/users who are working on this project will have SmartPlant P&ID installed
on their computer.
P&IDs are grouped under the various systems. Refer to Master Document Register.
3.4 Backup
Daily backup of the EKOL plant has been scheduled, where the files are stored at two locations:
ftp://b2bftp.conocophillips.com/SMOE/Incoming/backup/SPPID/
\\smoenas6\spf\sppid\backup
4.1 Equipment
Refer to COPENS for the list of equipment category codes and alpha prefix.
4.2 Instrument
Refer to COPENS for the list of equipment category codes and alpha prefix.
Manual valves with nominal diameter 2 and above in size have to be tagged. Manual valves
with nominal diameter below 2 do not have to be tagged, unless the valve is classified as
critical for operation or safety integrity.
Category code = 87
Sequence Number = 00001 to 99999, sub-range has been allocated according to service
Category code 61 is used for piping specialities e.g. flexible hose and injection point.
4.3.3 Flanges
02
In order to easily identify which pipe each flange belongs to, the tag number of the flange shall
be the same as the tag number of the equipment it belongs to, with a suffix of -FLxx, where xx
represents a sequence number.
[HOLD requirement to show flange tag on P&ID is not clear from COPENS Rev 12. However,
flange tag may need to be captured in database. It can be done by keying in 010-001-FL01 at
TagSequenceNo. Place Tag No (\Labels\Piping Segment), if necessary to be confirmed]
In addition to Piping and Valve Specifications, refer to Piping Class and Valve Specification
EKOL-SMO-P-07002 for selection of pipe class (specification).
5 Deliverables
5.1 P&IDs
SPPID is used in the creation of P&IDs. There are three parts to a P&ID P&ID Layout, 2D
graphics and data.
Refer to Section 6 for detailed steps of placing the title block, revision record and reference
record labels on the P&ID.
5.1.2 2D Graphics
Refer to Section 7 for detailed steps of placing the equipment, piping component and instrument
components symbols, etc.
5.1.3 Data
Refer to Section 8 for detailed steps of keying in equipment, line and instrument data.

Cases
1) 2) 3) 4)
An example is shown below using Case 1, where the 2 lines have different line numbers.
Change the properties of the vertical line (tag sequence number, for this example)
Carry on with the following steps to split the horizontal line into two segments i.e. Case 3.
Change the properties of the second horizontal line segment (tag sequence number, for
this example)
Below is the list of properties that can be changed after adding invisible_attribute_break at the
intersection of two line segments:
Operating fluid code
Tag sequence number
Nominal diameter
Insulation purpose
Pipe specification
Fluid system
Design maximum pressure
Design maximum temperature
HT trace medium
Fluid system
Process test maximum pressure
Process operating maximum pressure
Process operating maximum temperature

Reposition Tie In
Note
CPU0483 Spec Change.sym is used when the following line
properties change:
a. pipe class e.g. AD10 to AD11
b. insulation class e.g. 0 to 3
c. line sequence number e.g. 001 to 002
and for contractor tie-in at black box vendor P&ID:
a.
Segment Breaks\CPU0489 Area Break.sym
AND
Labels\Piping Segments\Area Code.sym
Note
CPU0489 Area Break.sym is used when there is a change in
area e.g. U14 to U15.
7.7.3 Example
Below is an example to show the placement of area break, spec break and tie-in point label.
Use either CPU0479 - CPU0480 Off-Page Connection or CPU0481 Offpage Connection Flow
Two Way. The steps are outlined below (using CPU0479 - CPU0480 Off-Page Connection):
Click OK
Open the connecting P&ID
Select OPC at Engineering Data Editor
If the connecting P&IDs are not produced in SPPID, use Dummy Annotation Single Direction or
Dummy Annotation Two Way. The steps are outlined below (using Dummy Annotation Single
Direction):
*1 VDS No will only be shown on P&IDs in design phase; they will be hidden in As-Built P&IDs.
Choose either or (\Labels\Piping Components), so that Tag No is
nearer to the valve when placed.
