Objective:
To create InfoArea, InfoObject Catalog & InfoObjects (of type Characteristics & Key
Figures).

Naming standards:

The objects created for the complete program would have a suffix xxx for the Technical Name &
description. You are advised to replace this with the last 2/3 digits of your user ID.

Example: If your used ID id BW782, you can use 782 as suffix. If your user ID is USER23, you
can use 23 as suffix.

Create InfoArea
1. Login into the SAP BW system
2. In the command bar, type transaction code RSA1, hit enter(return) key

3. Make sure you are in the Modeling & InfoArea screen.

4. Right click on the InfoObjects at the top, choose create InfoArea

5. Enter the InfoArea technical name & Description. Please follow the below
naming standard for the complete course.

6. Then click the button.

7. Scroll down all the way down & locate the InfoArea created.

Create InfoObject Catalog

1. Locate the InfoArea. (Note: make sure you are in the Modeling > InfoObjects
screen)
2. Right mouse click on the InfoArea, choose Create InfoObject Catalog.

3. Enter Technical Name, Description of InfoObject Catalog & choose the ype
of Catalog.

4. Click the create ( ) button.

5. Then click the activate ( ) button.

6. You have successfully created a char InfoObject catalog.

7. Repeat the above six steps to create a Key Figure InfoObject catalog. Note
that in step 3, you need to choose the Key Figure radio button.

Create Characteristic InfoObject

1. Locate your InfoObject Catalog for Char.
2. Right click on the char InfoObject catalog, choose Create InfoObject

3. Input the technical name & description, then click button.

4. Choose the data type from frop down & enter the length in the textbox.

5. Now click the button.

Create Key Figure InfoObject

1. Locate the Key Figure InfoObject Catalog.

2. Right click on the KF InfoObject catalog, choose Create InfoObject.

3. Enter the Technical name & description, and then click the button.

4. Choose the Data Type & Enter the Fixed Currency as USD.

5. Then click the button.

6. You have successfully created a Key Figure, with data type Quantity, with
Fixed Quantity USD.
