Bali International Travel Medicine Conference

THEME
Providing Comprehensive Services on Travel Medicine in Asia Pacific: Recent Update.

Background

Medical Tourism is a new branch of medicine that deals with the prevention and treatment of health
problems on tourists. This field is becoming increasingly important because of the growing number of
tourists worldwide. Besides the number of tourists increased, type of travel is also growing. Not only for
vacation travel or sightseeing, but also for business purposes, spiritual, study, work or adventure to the
place - a place that is exotic. This situation provides a variety of risks on tourists. Besides, infectious
diseases, plague, their new and re-emerging infectious diseases also require special attention in its
management. Travel Medicine focused on the management of pre-travel, during and post-travel. Pre-
travel preparation done before starting the journey so the journey went smoothly, can prevent or treat
themselves minor complaints that occur during a trip, and post-travel includes the treatment of traveler
health problems after returning from his trip.
Indonesia as a tourist destination should prepare a reliable health personnel to accept and prepare for
local and foreign tourists so that they remain healthy, safe and comfortable during the journey and
return safely. Related to the above, Udayana University Medical Faculty sees the need to improve
students' ability FK unud in the field of Travel Medicine with menggusung Travel Medicine as a flagship
program.
In a series Anniversary of the University of Udayana 50th we will host an international seminar Bali
International Travel Medicine Converence by theme Providing the comprehensive services on travel
medicine: Recent update.

Aim

1. General

Improving knowledge and understanding of Travel Medicine for doctors and tourism agents

2. Special

a. Improving information and the latest knowledge about pre-travel consultation and evaluation
b. Improving information and the latest knowledge about the treatment and travel related disease
c. Improving information and the latest knowledge about the post-travel follow-up and care
d. Expanding the international network of travel services in the field of medicine
e. Introducing the potential of local knowledge in the field of travel medicine

This activity involves the Medical Faculty Udayana University with PKWI, Perkedwi, PETRI branch Bali,
Bali Provincial Health Office, IHRA and the Bali Tourism Office.
