EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

MAKE IN INDIA is one of the bright moments started by Prime Mister of India for
development of the country. To lead this moment many new initiation is taken by many organization.
Same way SVMIT College, Bharuch have started to change the thinking of the students from seeking job
to creating job. The ability to start own business is not difficult for the people of Gujarat. With little
guidance and encouragement from college, young students can come up with better ideas to start a
business. To improve the understanding of Entrepreneur, a three day workshop was conducted by the
GIC club SVMIT, Bharuch for the second year engineering students. Second year students were
chosen so that they can generate the ability to convert their idea into business from the beginning
of the college life.

The Workshop was mainly divided in to three day learning process which includes: Idea
Pitching or generation, patent search methodology & Prototype making. The students were also
learned the group dynamics and group building. Total 136 students from the second year were in
the event. Out of which 30 groups were formed for the whole event.

The workshop was arranged department wise. Each department conducted the event
individually in their respected classes and seminar hall, SVMIT Bharuch, from 19 to 21 June was
as part of the efforts to develop the interest to the student about Entrepreneurship and to think
towards innovation.

With the guidance and support of Director J.M Patel, Principal Dr. R.G Kapadia, the
process of the workshop employed the services of internal facilitator and Hall in charges which
comprised of Shri H.G Shah as the lead head of the event, Head of the each department, and
GIC committee members who made the various session of the training workshop interesting,
interactive, educative and participatory.

On the closing ceremony, 1 winner groups was selected from each department and will
be encouraged with the certificates and the memento by the Director Shri J.M Patel & Principal
Dr. R.G Kapadia.
PURPOSE OF WORKSHOP:
1. Help Students to understand the process, challenges, risks and rewards of starting up a
new scalable business.
2. Equip them with the tools required to start their own business.
3. Improve their chances of successfully starting their own business.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
1. To support the Make in India initiative to develop the Nation
2. Recognize the way of success stories of leading entrepreneurs.

b. Student Perception on entrepreneur.
c. Creative and compelling delivery of Idea.
3. Gather new skills to better implement of different branches of engineering for versatile
group dynamics.
4. Develop an outline for starting up new business.
5. Understand how to work upon a creative idea, patent search & to develop Minimum
viable product.
6. Be prepared for the market up-down to survive in the market.
7. Develop an implementation plan/ strategy that can yield better lifestyle of the peoples.
8. To develop the leadership skill to handle the group.

WORKSHOP IMPACTS / OUTCOMES:


1. Generate and assess scalable business ideas through AEIOU and Ideation canvases.

METHODOLOGY:

The workshop was enriched with motivational and educational videos, Power Point
presentation, discussions, role play and group work. The session was highly interactive and
participatory to enhance learning, strengthen partnership among the group members & others
groups. During the group formation, participants were able to discuss their idea to make
compatible groups which can come up with common solutions to the problems. In addition
participants articulate critical issues they would passionately address among their various groups.
The following were some of the methods used in conducting the training process:

Group Work Session: This increases the participation and contributions of participants
as they work in smaller group. This is a strategy to provide space for those who could not
individually participate.
Experience sharing: By the head of GIC council, head of civil department and other
faculties to think differently.
Brainstorming: This allows generation of variety of views, ideas, and or perception from
the participants.
Videos and Presentation: Many videos and presentation were shown to the participant
for active learning on the various topic.
Lectures / discussion: Brief lecture were given after brainstorming by the participants to
improve their understanding about entrepreneur and related topic being discussed, it also
allows the facilitators to explain some key concepts.
Gallery walk & Presentation: Completed group work is placed on the table and
participants move round to give feedback and inputs to the presentations.
Role Play: Dramatic representation of the final prototype presentation and BMC
preparation and presentation.

The workshop was started with HOD of all branches, welcoming the second year students to
their new academic session of second year. Each HOD addressed their students of respective
branches with the importance of the workshop and Entrepreneurship. they told them to become
job creator and not job seeker. Shri H.G Shah, GIC coordinator, said the objective of the
workshop, illustrate examples and current scenario of the pass out engineer. Shri H.G Shah
shared his wide experience by informing that the real flow of money will be based on education
and skills. At the same time, he said that it was important to channelize the energy of the youth.
He also added that there are three types of entrepreneurs who drive our nation. Every event
coordinator emphasized on activities related GIC Club activities and IPR. He also added that he
had more faith in the current government for framing the policies in Entrepreneurship
Development.
Day 1: Welcome Notes and Introduction

Registration of the students was carried out in the beginning of each department. The 1 st session
of the workshop started with the Brain storming activity. The brain storming session was handled
by GIC member of each department. They have covered the basics technique on how to convert
an idea into entrepreneurship. They have mainly emphasis on business techniques to the students
and the dynamics of group formation.
Brain storming activity also includes the ice braking activity in which the students were
told to make their own groups among them. After the group formation, each group member were
allowed to decide their group leader and asked to present their views on Perception on
entrepreneur.

Observation technique is very important for generating ideas. So the understanding of


A.E.I.O.U was tough by Design Engineering Coordinator. Observation through various ways
was explained with many different examples from very experience faculties to the students. This
session was very important as it helps in developing the skill of the students to develop the
ability to observe and identify social and industrial problems.
At the end of the 1st session there was a networking lunch break. After the lunch break
the hall in charge give the Stay Hungry Stay Foolish books on entrepreneurship to the students
to read it and again give their views about entrepreneur. This activity changed the perception of
the students and this way they were encouraged to have interest and thoughts on making their
own business.

Day 2: Idea pitching, MVP and Prototype

The 2nd day of the workshop started with the brush ups of the 1stday activity and told to
think on their business idea. Some videos were shown and presentation was taken by GIC
coordinator of each department to teach the skill of generating ideas. After giving some time all
the groups were told to present their idea one by one. This session is called idea pitching, in
which each student presented their individual ideas in their respective department. These ideas
were judged by the jury members which include 3 members i.e. HOD of different department,
faculty of D.E. and GIC coordinator.
After a tea break of 20 min the jury members came with their judgments. The jury
members have decided total best ideas, one from each group. Now, all the ideas of different
group members were suggested to give detailed business strategies and give more details on their
idea. This activity lead to make the new group leaders and new groups based on the business idea
& strategies.
After the reforming the groups, the hall in charge gave presentation on the Minimum
viable Product (MVP). This session force the group to think on, how to take up their idea in to
reality, focus on their prime customers and manufacturing & marketing strategies. At the end this
session all groups has presented their MVP to the jury.

After the lunch break the Hall In charge gave the presentation on the prototype making
and patent search. In this session students were tough the importance of the prototype and given
different techniques and idea about how to make prototype.

Day 3: BMC and Final Competition

The 3rd day was started with the Video of the last two day activities, which gave the zest
and sweet memories. Forwarding the session, GIC Coordinator gave presentation on Business
Model Canvas (BMC). In the presentation, they covered history of the development of BMC and
also showed some videos to students. At the end of presentation they congratulated the students
as the students became the part of changing nation and thought process. The students were given
enough time to make their BMC.

After tea break, students were told to present their Business idea model with MVP &
BMC to present against jury members. The best three groups were selected from each
department.
The closing ceremony of the 3 day workshop was started at the seminar hall and the 3
best groups of all branches were told to present their Business model and BMC in Electrical
Seminar hall. The winner group will be given the certificates and memento.

The vote of thanks was presented by Shri H.G. Shah (Event Coordinator). Shri N.P. Soni
has also address the students for successfully completion of the event.
