Time is a precious commodity to everyone. All people are allotted the same 24 hour
slot of time for each day. Many people go to work at a set scheduled time Monday thru
Friday and this is what allows them to provide for their families. However, there are
many people who work two or three jobs leaving less time for family. In todays society
there are many single family homes and many with jobs that pay below the poverty
level. This does not change the desire of these people for family time or simply a
moment for ones self. This program was created to help students understand how to
maximize time management in order to allow time for family, school and self. During
this program students will learn how to identify networking opportunities and why
networking is important.
to all members of the community. The organization offers classes and workshops to
workshops and English classes. Some neighborhood residents began to ask the
organization for help with balancing work and life. Currently, the organization offers
parenting and nutrition classes. However, no classes offering help to prepare them for
the obstacles associated with being a mother/father while balancing a job. Many
members of the community are young single parents or people managing more than
one job. Due to the increased request for assistance in this area Friendly House handed
out a questionnaire to every community member who came into the office. The
questionnaire offered three types of classes to choose from. The organization handed
out over 100 surveys, of the 100 surveys received, 80 were in favor of a time
management class. The time management class will review skills assisting students
with the organization of daily tasks, when to multi- task or delegate as well as when to
identify networking opportunities. The class will aim to assist students effectively
Participants taking part in this program will be between the ages of 16 and 30
years of age. Most of the students do not have a high school diploma and even fewer
with college degrees or college experience. Most are employed with part time or full
time employment. Some students have more than one job. The class will be one hour
and a half for three nights a week using a classroom setting. The instructor will use
various methods such as team collaboration, group discussion and assessments. The
instructor will ask students to use examples, and hand out questionnaires and multiple
choice tests to gage students learning. Throughout each class session the instructor
will incorporate both group discussion and lecture formats in order to promote peer to
peer interaction and help maximize the students learning. Toward the end of each class
session the instructor will ask the group to discuss and review what has been learned,
they will be encouraged to share their own experiences and thoughts. The instructor will
discuss what networking is and how it can be used to improve certain circumstances,
and why time management skills are important. Students will be given daily planners
and the instructor will review how students can get the most out of his/her time, and why
making time for the important things matter. The class will also learn when it is best to
multi-task and delegate. They will review situations in which will be best to multi task or
delegate. Students will share their biggest obstacles and share in best practices to
resolve. At the conclusion of this training program students will have a better

He was the main force behind the development of the program. The students and
community members are invested in the program as to it was their request for
information with regard to the subject of the class that aided in its creation. The
employers will gain dependable and reliable employees for their companies from these
students. The families will benefit from a more productive household allowing for a
better life balance. Overall this program will be an asset to the community and provide
The organization will create flyers and hand out to community members as they
pass through the office. The flyers will also be posted on the community board.
The organization will also send out an email to all community members on their
email list.
Both email and flyers will contain main points of the program description such as
how to maximize time management skills and how networking can be beneficial.
Program Evaluation
At the end of the class a survey will be handed out to students to evaluate if they
found the class useful. The survey will include the following questions:
Did you feel the class provided you with sufficient information?
The class will also be evaluated by Eddie Perez head of the friendly house organization.
Eddie will sit in on the class and observe both instructor and students. He will evaluate the
effectiveness of class goals on a scale of 1-10 with classroom instructor. They will meet at the
end of each class to discuss any changes or opportunities. The instructor will also use a tally
system while in class in order to track the level of student engagement and participation of
students. The instructor will have a list of students names and place a check mark when a

The trainer will use a fill in the blank test consisting of 4 questions with regard to
time management and networking techniques they have learned in the classroom. Once
completed, the students will be asked to share his/her answers with the class.
At the end of the program, the students will complete an end of course survey
How effective they feel the course instruction was throughout program.
