JER 20:10-13

Jeremiah said:
"I hear the whisperings of many:
'Terror on every side!
Denounce! let us denounce him!'
All those who were my friends
are on the watch for any misstep of mine.
'Perhaps he will be trapped; then we can prevail,
and take our vengeance on him.'
But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion:
my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph.
In their failure they will be put to utter shame,
to lasting, unforgettable confusion.
O LORD of hosts, you who test the just,
who probe mind and heart,
let me witness the vengeance you take on them,
for to you I have entrusted my cause.
Sing to the LORD,
praise the LORD,
for he has rescued the life of the poor
from the power of the wicked!"

Reflection:

There are times that a kind of suffering is becoming real and something that we struggle. In this
gospel, Jeremiah's notable expression about faith and trust in our God is something that we should
always remember and put in our hearts.

At the moment when I feel like everyone around me wanted to witness me fail, I gave our God
all of my fears and plans, and I truly know that I could trust Him to fight for me. Even though I doesn't
know what I was getting myself into at the time, I believe that He is always there that I can trust.

I believe and always will, that through his actions and his powerful words, fear shouldn't have
place in our hearts because we are not alone, we are fighting this battle with Jesus.
ROM 5: 12-15

Brothers and sisters:

Through one man sin entered the world,
and through sin, death,
and thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned
for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world,
though sin is not accounted when there is no law.
But death reigned from Adam to Moses,
even over those who did not sin
after the pattern of the trespass of Adam,
who is the type of the one who was to come.

But the gift is not like the transgression.

For if by the transgression of the one the many died,
how much more did the grace of God
and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ
overflow for the many.

Reflection:

In this gospel, Paul assures the faithful followers of Jesus that they need not be afraid of
opposition because they share in the death of Jesus and in his resurrection.

"Be not afraid", this comes to my mind after I heard this gospel. This passage tells us that we
shouldn't have to be afraid of those who was opposing us, and who will. Because I know that we are
united with our loving God. We are given His words of encouragement. I believe that there are no things
that will remain undiscovered and people that will stay silent.

Because when the end comes, there is nothing that will stay uncover and hidden. God will bring
light to the darkness. And those who opposed Him will become dishonored while the ones who
remained faithful will become blessed eternally.
MT 10:26-33

Jesus said to the Twelve:

"Fear no one.
Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;
rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy
both soul and body in Gehenna.
Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Everyone who acknowledges me before others
I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
But whoever denies me before others,
I will deny before my heavenly Father."

Reflection:

In life, we always thought that we are weak at making decisions. We let fear overcome us when
it comes to decision making. The basis of these fears are rejection, loss and over-thinking.

I, who wasn't good at starting conversations, sometimes, also afraid of what will others think if I
speak up. I'm afraid of growing old, of what the future will bring. Every fear that I have is attached to a
knowledge that I have something to lose and someone to give up. But I know that I am not alone at
facing these kind of fear. Because He is always there to guide us, to give us strength and to make us feel
that we are loved.

Whatever trouble or situation that affects us, we know that God understands it the best than we
ourselves. Our Father knows exactly what is happening to us, His children. He will never leave us. Our
life is in His hands, the hands of a loving God.
