Ideal Education In India

Education in India can be obtained through any of the following three channels as
described below:

Formal Channels of Education in India

The network of schools, colleges, universities, state boards and central boards are
authorised to provide degree certificates to the students on successfully clearing their
respective examinations. All the institutes (Government aided as well as privately
owned) that are part of this network of education system can be termed as formal
channels of education in India.

Informal Channels of Education in India

Apart from institutes falling under formal channel as described above, education in India
is also dependent on informal channels which comprise of various coaching institutes.
This channel is generally used by students to gain competitive edge over each other.

Vocational Courses funded by Government of India

Apart from formal and informal channels of education, the National Skill Development
Corporation (NSDC) under central and state government schemes provide free training
for various vocational skill development courses for underprivileged citizens. These
trainings are facilitated by Public Private Partnership Projects with the primary mandate
of catalysing the skills landscape of India. The objective of these schemes is to
encourage the youth to become self-sufficient and contributing members of their own
household as well as of the society at large. To encourage enrolments into these
programs, monetary rewards are provided for successful completion of approved
training courses. (For reference: smart.nsdcindia.org, msde.gov.in)

About Ideal Management

Ideal Management is a leading institute in the field of education and has marked its
presence in all 3 channels of education in India. From operating schools and colleges
and providing coaching for competitive examinations to training students from
underprivileged background, Ideal Management has established its presence across the
country, in all forms. (For reference: idealmanagement.in, idealclasses.com, Youtube
Channel)

Under informal channels of education, Ideal Management trains close to 200 students
for various MBA entrance examinations and nearly 250 students for Bank PO
examinations every year from their 4 centres in Mumbai.

Ideal Management also trains nearly 5000 underprivileged students through its 10
centres located in 4 states (Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar and Odisha) across the country.
The training cost for these students is reimbursed by the Government of India.
A Hard-to-ignore Opportunity

Informal education sector in India (coaching business):

Every year close to 2.5 3 lakh students appear for various competitive entrance
examinations like CAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP and CET to secure admissions in
prestigious MBA colleges. The number is even higher, almost 35 lakh, for various Bank
exams.

Vocational and Skill Development Trainings:

Despite being one of the fastest growing economies in the world, poverty and
unemployment are prevalent issues of India and lack of quality education does not help
the cause. NSDC was mandated to train 150 million people as part of the National Skill
Development Policy in 2009, leading up to a target of providing job skills to as many as
400 million in headcount by 2022. So far, NSDC has trained just 11.51 million
candidates through training partners and standard training assessments as well as
reward schemes, like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana and Udaan (an initiative
especially intended for natives of Jammu and Kashmir).

Capturing market share:

Ideal Management aims to capture a bigger share in the education sector through
informal channels and by pushing further on the vocational training programs in India.

The leadership at Ideal Management needs to make a host of decisions like

investments, partnerships, work force expansion, course development etc. to propel
their growth in the informal and vocational training market. Your team is expected to
make recommendations to the leadership based on, but not exclusive to, the following
points:

1. Channels to increase awareness about vocational and skill development

trainings for underprivileged youth
2. Identify the root cause of low enrolment and suggest ways to increase
participation in training courses (few of the reasons for low enrolment to these
courses are family/traditional barriers, fear of losing current daily wage jobs etc.)
3. Channels to increase the online presence of Ideal Management in the informal
education sector (coaching business) in India
4. Positioning how to differentiate the products of Ideal Management in a cluttered
market (coaching business)
5. Propose online revenue generation models for informal education sector
(coaching business) in India

Feel free to make assumptions wherever necessary (specify them). Mention relevant
data sources in the presentation. You may go beyond the aforementioned points for
recommendations, as long as they are relevant and feasible.
