My ideal farm

I imagine my ideal farm as being self-sufficient, with a few animals and small crops
for my own consumption and a large crop for commercialization.
There is a fence around part of the property. In the front part of farm there is a large
gate at the entrance. Also, some parts of the farm are bordered by hedges made up of tall,
thorny plants, acting as fences. To protect against strong winds, the farm is surrounded by a
curtain of tall trees.
From the entrance there is a dirt road that leads to the centre of the property where
there is a large farm house where my family and I live. On the roof of the house I have
installed a solar heater for hot water and photovoltaic solar panels for generating electricity.
Next to the house I have a small flower garden and a vegetable garden for growing
carrots, onion, peppers, herbs, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage etc.
Near the house I have an open area with different farming equipment such as a plough,
a harrow, a cultivator, a trailed sprayer for irrigation, fertilizing and pest control, and of
course a tractor. This open area has a concrete platform for repairing and fine-tuning the
farming equipment before each use.
Close by there is a barn where the animals and dried hay are kept. I have a brown
horse, for various farm work, a few sheep, two cows for milk and some goats. There is an
grassy area near the barn for the animals to pasture. Not far away I also have a hen-house
with a few chickens that lay eggs.
Nearby there is a large rubbish heap that is always smouldering. It is used to compost
animal waste and vegetable debris to produce organic fertilizer. Nothing is wasted for full
efficiency and protection of the environment.
There is also a hill where the windmill is built. I use it for pumping water and
producing electricity. The farm is mainly self-sufficient, with the power generated by the solar
panels and windmill. If the power runs out, or in cases of emergency, I have a backup diesel
generator.
The water for irrigation is stored in a large pond on the edge of the farm and pumped
when needed using the windmill.
I also have some fields that are farmed for various crops. Mostly its cereales like
wheat and corn, but also fodder crops for the animals. These crop fields have an automated
sprinkler irrigation system.

Most of the farming surface is dedicated to growing fruit. I mainly keep apple trees,
but I do have a small orchard with pear, plum, cherry, apricot and peach trees. The orchards
are irrigated using a drip irrigation system which I also use for fertilizing the trees.
Close to the orchard there is a tool shed where I store tools for garden work, such as
pruning trees and getting rid of unwanted weeds.
After harvesting, the fruit is stored in refrigerated warehouses until it is sold or
prepared into food products.
