On our eleventh day of training, We repaired the laboratory refrigerator because the nurse told us that the
refrigerator has a leak. What we did is we check the component under the refrigerator to check if it has a leak.
After checking the components under the refrigerator we replace the container under the refrigerator because it
was full of water. Our supervisor explained to us that hospital refrigerator are heavy-duty refrigerators and
freezers of various sizes designed to meet specific demands, and to maintain medical
equipment/vaccines/specimens at a constant temperature. He also add that refrigerator are used by medical
professionals in hospitals, research laboratories, crime labs, surgery centers and other medical facilities.
Our supervisor also explained the functionality of ECG Machine that it was the process of recording the
electrical activity of the heart over a period of time using electrodes placed on the skin. These electrodes
detect the tiny electrical changes on the skin that arise from the heart muscle's electrophysiologic pattern of
depolarizing and repolarizing during each heartbeat. It was a very commonly performed cardiology test. In a
conventional 12-lead ECG, 10 electrodes are placed on the patient's limbs and on the surface of the chest. He
also added that the overall magnitude of the heart's electrical potential is then measured from 12 different
angles ("leads") and was recorded over a period of time (usually 10 seconds). In this way, the overall
magnitude and direction of the heart's electrical depolarization was captured at each moment throughout the
cardiac cycle.The graph of voltage versus time produced by this noninvasive medical procedure was referred
to as an electrocardiogram.

On our twelfth day of training, Our supervisor let us to observed how the engineer of streamcare conducted a
preventive maintenance for X-Ray Scanner Machine. Our supervisor also taught us on how to conduct
preventive maintenance for dialysis machines.
Our supervisor explained that an X-ray generator is a device that produces X-rays. Together with an X-ray
detector, it was commonly used in a variety of applications including medicine, fluorescence, electronic
assembly inspection, and measurement of material thickness in manufacturing operations. In medical
applications, X-ray generators are used by radiographers to acquire x-ray images of the internal structures
(e.g., bones) of living organisms, and also in sterilization.
Our supervisor also explained the function of dialysis machine that mixes and monitors the dialysate. Dialysate
is the fluid that helps remove the unwanted waste products from your blood. It also helps get your electrolytes
and minerals to their proper levels in your body. The machine also monitors the flow of your blood while it was
outside of your body.

On our ninth day of training, Our supervisor taught us on how fill out preventive maintenance form for Integral
Laboratory, We checked the incubator, centrifuge, oven and weighing scale.

He also explained that an incubator is a device simulating avian incubation by keeping eggs or babies warm
and in the correct humidity, and if needed to turn them, to hatch them. Reginald Carl A. Sanchez invented this
incubator for the eggs even if there is no hen to hatch it.

Details of Training Activity Our supervisor explained that laboratory centrifuge is a piece of laboratory equipment, driven by a motor,
which spins liquid samples at high speed. There are various types of centrifuges, depending on the size and
the sample capacity.

Our supervisor also explained how the microscope function and he taught us that There are many types of
microscopes, and they may be grouped in different ways. One way is to describe the way the instruments
interact with a sample to create images, either by sending a beam of light or electrons to a sample in its optical
path, or by scanning across, and a short distance from, the surface of a sample using a probe. The most
common microscope (and the first to be invented) is the optical microscope, which uses light to pass through a
sample to produce an image.

On our tenth day of training, Our supervisor taught us on how install nurse caller device and repeater for
patient and nurse communication.

Our supervisor instructed us to install nurse caller devices at the top of the patient bed because if the patient
need to call the nurse he/she can easily pull the string that will trigger the device and alarm the nurse that the
patient on a certain room need assistance.

Details of Training Activity For the nurse to know where is the room that need assistance he/she can look at the nurse monitoring LCD.
The LCD will display the room number that needs assistance.

In a hospital like WCC theres a lot of room in every floor so the area is wide and there a lot of barriers for a
communication. To solve the problem we install repeater in every corner of the floor for the signal to be
amplified so that even though theres a barrier the signal will pass through it.

Our instructor also discussed that in telecommunications, a repeater is an electronic device that receives
a signal and retransmits it. Repeaters are used to extend transmissions so that the signal can cover longer
distances or be received on the other side of an obstruction.
