Foreword
This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard is not equivalent to Japanese JIS G3192-2008 "Dimensions, Mass and
Permissible Variations of Hot Rolled Steel Sections".
This standard replaces GB/T 11263-2005 "Hot-rolled H and Cut T Section Steel".
Compared with GB/T 11263-2005, the main changes of this standard are as follows:
The types of H450150, H475150, H500150 and H625200 series and the
specification of H298201914 for H300200 series were added.
For permissible deviation of dimension and shape of H section steel, the flange
bending and outer edge passivation requirements of flange leg end were added.
Compared with JIS G3192-2008, the main changes of this standard are as follows:
H section steel is divided into four categories according to wide flange, middle
flange, narrow flange and thin wall.
In Table 3, the thickness t1 was added with a column "less than 5mm"; the

1 Scope
This standard specifies the ordering content, classification, code, dimensions, shape,
weight and permissible deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection
rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of hot-rolled H section steel and T
section steel cut by hot-rolled H section steel.

6.4.2 Surface defects of H section steels and cut T section steels could be grinded
and cleaned with mechanical methods, such as chipping and wheel grinding, it is
allowed to weld repair defects, some requirements for weld repair and weld repair
quality inspection could refer to Appendix A. Cleaning and weld repair shall be carried
out according to 6.4.2.1 and 6.4.2.2.
6.4.2.1 Cleaning
a) After cleaning of H section steels and cut T section steels, the sectional
dimension must be within the permissible deviation range. The range could be
enlarged according to different functions, if agreed by the user.
b) Interface between the cleaned section and the original rolled surface shall be
smooth and free from edges and corners and the cleaning width shall not be
less than 5 times of the cleaning depth.
c) After cleaning, if the cleaning depth does not exceed the specified dimensional
tolerance range and the direct delivery could be carried out without weld
repair.
After the cleaning of defects, if the dimension of the cleaned part exceeds the
permissible negative deviation, metal weld repair shall be carried out for the defect
cleaned position, but the following provisions shall be met:
a) Surface defects of H section steels and cut T section steels shall be entirely
cleaned out with mechanical methods, such as chipping or grinding wheel
polishing, then, overlaying repair shall be carried out. Grinding must be carried
out after weld repair of the defect cleaning position and the surface shall be
kept consistent with the original rolled surface;
b) The depth of the removed defective portion before weld repair must be less
than 30% of the thickness of the cleaned surface;
c) Total area of the weld repair must be less than 2% of the total surface area of H
section steel and cut T section steel and the maximum area of each weld
repair must be less than 150cm2;
d) Weld repair must be carried out according to designation of the steel and with
appropriate weld repair process;
e) Welding outer-edges of H section steel and cut T section steels shall be free
from undercuts and flashes. Ripple height of the reinforced seam shall be
higher than the original rolled surface by at least 1.5mm, after cleaning the
reinforced seam ripples in the mechanical methods, such as chipping or

grinding wheel polishing, the surfaces of H section steel and cut T section steel
must be ensured at the same height of the original rolled surface.
f) Weld repair must be carried out for defects on the flange edge, but the inward
depression depth from the flange edge shall not exceed nominal thickness of
the flange and the maximum depth shall not exceed 12.5mm.
7 Test Methods
Inspection items, sampling quantity and test methods of each batch of H section
steels and cut T section steels shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 6.

8 Inspection Rules
8.1.1 Check and acceptance of H section steel and cut T section steel shall be
carried out by quality supervision department of the suppliers.
8.1.2 The supplier shall ensure that the delivered steels meet those specified in this
standard or the contract, and the demander is entitled to carry out inspection and
acceptance for any inspection item specified in this standard or the contract.
Batching of H section steel and cut T section steel shall be carried out according to
corresponding standards.
Sampling position and sampling method of tension, bending and impulse tests for H
section steel shall be carried out according to the requirements of GB/T 2975 and cut

8.4.1 If the primary inspection of the tension and bending tests is disqualified, one of
the following methods may be adopted for re-inspection:
8.4.1.1 Take double samples from the identical product for the re-inspection of the
unqualified item. If the re-inspection results are qualified, then this lot of product is
qualified. If the result of one of the samples is disqualified, then this product is rejected.
This moment, re-inspection shall be carried out by extracting one sample each from
two products of this lot of the product and if one of them has disqualified result, then
this lot of products is deemed as unqualified.
8.4.1.2 Extract additionally double samples directly from the identical batch of the
product for re-inspection. If one of the re-inspection results is unqualified, then this lot
of product is deemed as unqualified.
8.4.3 The supplier is entitled to inspect by sampling for the unqualified products
piece by piece; the qualified can still be delivered.
9.1 H section steel shall adopt such methods as rolling, spraying or sticking to mark
the manufacturer name or the registered trademark clearly.
9.2 H section steel and cut T section steel may be delivered in bundle or single piece.
The H section steel and cut T section steel delivered by bundle shall meet those
specified in Table 7.
9.3 Except those specified in Table 7, package, mark and quality certificate of H
section steel and cut T section steel shall meet the requirements of GB/T 2101.

Appendix A

Detailed Regulations for Rewelding of H Section Steel and Cut T Section
Steel
A.1.1 Before welding repair, the welding rod must be dried and preheat temperature
is generally 350 for 1h; during welding repair, operate with short arc, better to use
string bead and welding repair current is controlled in mid-limit, in addition, the matrix
metal shall keep dry. Low hydrogen electrode is recommended.
A.1.2 For the product with yield strength grade less than Q345, it shall be cooled in
the static air during welding repair and after welding.
A.1.3 For the product with yield strength grade being Q345, when the working
environment temperature of welding repair5, weld preheating measure and
post-welding retarded cooling shall be added; before welding, preheat to above
100 within range of 100mm around the place for welding repair and after welding,
asbestos cloth or wood chip etc. shall be adopted for retarded cooling.
A.1.4 For the product with yield strength grade above Q345 and the product with
special performance requirements such as fire resistance, and weather resistance
when the working environment temperature of welding repair 5, weld preheating
measure and post-welding retarded cooling shall be added; before welding, preheat
to above 150 within range of 100 mm around the place for welding repair and during
the welding, the temperature among the layers shall be less than 200, after welding,
asbestos cloth or wood chip etc. shall be adopted for retarded cooling.
A.1.5 Adopt such suitable means as emery wheel polishing to polish the welding
repair to remove the bulgy metal and make the welding repair sheet parallel tot he
rolled surface and smooth. Fixed continuous polishing is forbidden, leading to the
blueing discoloration on the surface.
A.2.1 Observe the appearance of the place needed for welding repair; the place for
welding repair and heat affected area shall be smooth, beautiful and shall be free from
any surface crack, undercut, megascopic air hole, slag inclusion etc. defects. If the
surface defects still exist, the welding repair shall not be carried out until the defects
are treated clean carefully.

Comparison of Types and Section Characteristic Parameters of Joist
Steel and H Section Steel
Calculate relevant types of H section steel in the standard and the relevant types and
performance parameter comparison (See Table B.1) of joist steel in the new national
standards based on the principle that the section area is generally close and bending
strength about X axis not less than the corresponding joist steel, for the reference of
persons concerned to use H section steel.
