D DAY

1 EXT. PASSPORT OFFICE (MUMBAI) - DAY

Two men park their scooter and get off. Run across the
street into a waiting bus.

2 INT. PASSPORT OFFICE - DAY

March 12th 1993 - Thomas Cherian (43yrs) waits eagerly at


the passport delivery counter. He looks at the line in
front of him, then at his watch. The line moves forward.

3 EXT. PASSPORT OFFICE - DAY

Jonah (10yrs) waits with his mother Celin (33yrs) at the


tea stall just outside the Passport Office in Worli, Mumbai.

He starts to get impatient. His mother decides to bribe


him with a cold drink when her husband comes bounding
down the stairs of the office with the passports in his
hand. The look on his face and the smile says it all. He
hugs the little boy.

3A INT/EXT. PASSPORT OFFICE/BUS - DAY

The bus wipes into the frame. Thomas watches his son and
wife rush and take a seat comfortably at the back of the
bus. The little boy pokes his head through the bars of
the bus and yells asking his father to come home soon.
Thomas says that he will visit the agent and come straight
home. The bus leaves. Thomas watches it go down the street.
He turns and waits for the light to change to cross the
street.

INT/EXT. BUS - DAY

Inside the bus the boy keeps on talking excitedly. His


mother cannot seem to keep him quiet.

CONDUCTOR
Ticket? Kahan jana hai...

JONAH
Bahrain!!

Suddenly there is a bright flash of light. The bus shudders


and the windows shatter. The bus is torn to shreds.

TITLE CARD

Montage of photographs - The carnage from all the 13 bomb


attacks. Titles slowly fade in and out.

3 INT/EXT. MUMBAI POLICE HEADQUARTERS - DAY

A middle aged RA&W Officer, Ashwini Kumar is assigned the


investigation. He looks at the devastation and the loss
of lives in front of him. He looks at the equally muddled
police officers,

ASHWINI
Do we know anything?

4 INT/EXT. GOLDMAN'S PENTHOUSE - DAY

Dubai - A man puts down the telephone and walks through


the posh penthouse. He comes to a man who is seated at
the poolside eating with his children. The man on the
phone excuses himself and whispers in the other mans ears.
The man eating merely nods his head and continues to eat.
Then looks at the children maid servant,

GOLDMAN
They need to pack as they are
leaving...

The eldest of the children asks innocently where they


were going.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
Karachi...

5 EXT. KARACHI ROADS - EVENING

Title Card Reads - Karachi, Pakistan - Present Day. A


helicopter shot of the city. The sun is about to set. The
streetlights are all on.

6 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (BALLROOM) - EVENING

PBS 1 - Ref: Saavan main lag gayi aag

The ultra luxury Sheraton Hotel on Club Road is witnessing


a very important function in the ballroom on the 10th
floor. Mika the Bollywood playback singer and some
Pakistani starlet are dancing to the latest Bollywood hit
number that he has sung. Guests are milling all about.

Two guests in particular Rudra Pratap Singh and Wali Khan


exchange a look when there is a flurry of activity in one
corner of the room. A man immerges from one of the side
doors and rushes to a man in a flashy white suit standing
next to the bride and groom. The man gives the man in the
white suit a mobile. He speaks into it, hands it back and
then bends down and whispers to the groom,

BHANJA
Abba nikal rahein hai...

7 EXT. CLIFTON ROAD - EVENING

Across town the gates to a mansion on Clifton Road slowly


slide open as a cavalcade of black bulletproof SUV's leave.
They start traveling in close formation towards the
Sheraton Hotel.

8 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT 1) - EVENING

Aslam gets a message on his mobile phone,

'Target is on the move'

He touches his balls vulgarly and makes a gesture for


taking a leak to the other drivers.

He gives up the game of poker that he was involved in and


walks towards his Black Mercedes 500S. Sends a message
on his mobile phone.

'Delivery boy is on its way'

8A INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ELEVATOR) - EVENING

Rudra Pratap Singh and Wali Khan walk out of the party.
Get into the elevator. Hit 9. The door opens. Rudra
Pratap and Wali Khan stand looking straight into the face
of the security guard on the 9th floor. Rudra Pratap
pretends to press G but presses 9 once again. The door
begins to shut, in a flash Rudra Pratap pulls the guard
into the elevator as his head gets trapped between the
doors. In one swift move he breaks the guards neck.
Then opens the door and pulls the guard in.

RUDRA PRATAP
Go...

Wali Khan exits as Rudra Pratap opens the hatch on the


roof and hides the body up.

9 INT. CORRIDOR - EVENING

Wali Khan walks down the corridor as fast as he can, looks


back to see Rudra Pratap exit the elevator and take the
position of the guard. Wali Khan reaches room 905 and
knocks just as another guard comes around the corner.
Rudra Pratap hides his face. The door is opened. Wali
Khan enters the room.

EXT. KARACHI FLYOVER - NIGHT

The cavalcade of cars hit the main Karachi flyover.

INT. SHERTAON HOTEL (PARKING LOT) - NIGHT

Aslam sits in the car waiting.

9A INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 906) - NIGHT

Wali Khan gives a perfunctory look at the corpse of the


man lying in the bed of the connecting room. Zoya Rehman
bounds in from the connecting room (wearing a garish
undersized, tight salwar kameez, revealing more than it
covers) Wali Khan seems not to notice as she hands him
the pistols and AK 47. He checks it. Then looks up. The
entire ceiling has been rigged with Simtex and RDX.

9B INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - NIGHT

The camera travels through the ceiling into the room above.
A high tech security room with monitors covering the entire
hotel and its perimeter. The monitor's are unmanned as
both security guards are busy watching the show in the
main ballroom.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (BALLROOM) - NIGHT

The man in the white suit Bhanja is seen dancing lewdly


with the Pakistani starlet as Mika belts it out. General
Pasha and Saleem Pathan react.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (9TH FLOOR) - NIGHT

On the monitors we see the Rudra Pratap waiting for the


other guard to go around the corner. He walks down the
corridor. Knocks on the door of room 905,the door opens
and Zoya and Wali Khan enter the elevator.

EXT. KARACHI STREETS - NIGHT

The cars start to come around the corner.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - NIGHT

The security guards return to their posts.

9C INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT) - NIGHT

The elevator travels down the shaft and reaches P3.


Explosives with a transmitter is seen strategically placed
in the elevator shaft. The doors open. Wali Khan and Zoya
come out. The security guards run to them.

SECURITY
Get back...This is a restricted
area...Get back inside...

WALI KHAN
(Pretending to be
drunk)
What do you mean restricted...Do
you know who I am...Do you?

Zoya pretends to calm him down. As she does so her dupatta


falls revealing her cleavage. Wali Khan now starts to
accuses her calling her shameless.

They get into a full blown argument. The security guards


get distracted trying to calm the domestic fight.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - NIGHT

The guards in the room upstairs enjoy the scene on the


monitors. Getting amused.

EXT. SHERATON HOTEL (PORCH) - NIGHT

The cars go past the main porch of the Sheraton and start
to enter the basement parking lot.

9D INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT) - NIGHT

Aslam watches them enter. He sees the cars come to a


screeching halt outside the service elevator. The doors
open and Goldman immerges.

Aslam sees the security (around 10 guards) cover Goldman


and escort him to the elevator. Only two security guards
enter the service elevator with him. Aslam starts the
car and begins to drive.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - NIGHT

The guards in the monitor room see the elevator doors


close.

AD 1 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (BALLROOM) - NIGHT

Inside the ballroom General Pasha ISI receives a call on


his mobile. His expression changes as he listens to the
man talking excitedly at the other end. His heart starts
to race and he starts to walk across the ballroom towards
Bhanja and Saleem Pathan. He reaches them and starts to
speak with Saleem Pathan. Bhanja takes off.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT P3) - NIGHT

On P3 Wali Khan and Zoya continue their argument. Wali


Khan reacts as the hum of the elevator approaching
increases. Suddenly he whips out a gun and shoots the
guards on P3.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - NIGHT

The guards in the monitor room react.

AD 2 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT P3) - NIGHT

Zoya takes out her mobile. Opens the basement doors for
the main lobby. She presses the answer button.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 906) - NIGHT

The explosives on the ceiling and the elevator shaft


receive the signal and go off. The entire room along with
the monitor room above blows up.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (SERVICE ELEVATOR) - NIGHT

The elevator comes to stop at P3.

8G INT. SHERATON HOTEL (9TH FLOOR + SERVICE ELEVATOR) - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap Singh turns walks through the debri and smoke
as the guard stumbles to his feet. In a flash he attacks
him and takes him down.

He pries the elevator door open. Takes off his jacket.


Swings it around the elevator cables and descends at top
speed. The guards inside the elevator with Goldman stand
alert for the doors to open.

Instead Rudra Pratap blows the elevator roof open. He


throws in a smoke canister. Bang Bang. Both guards go
down.

Rudra Pratap jumps into the elevator. Holds the gun to


Goldman. Knocks on the door.

8H INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT P3) - NIGHT

The doors to the elevator open. Wali Khan.

A car comes screeching - Aslam. Wali Khan and Rudra Pratap


push Goldman to the car, when suddenly the first bullet
is fired. Wali Khan gets hit.

Rudra Pratap and Aslam react as they watch Wali Khan going
down. They are met with a volley of gunfire. Rudra Pratap
manages to hold onto Goldman as he hits the ground. Goldman
kicks him in the face trying to get free. Rudra Pratap
reels backwards with the blow, momentarily letting go of
Goldman.

Frame Freezes.

WALI KHAN (V.O)


Was this the first thing to have
gone wrong...No!...But this was
the one thing that should not
have gone wrong...

9 INT. WALI KHAN'S HOUSE - DAY

Title Card Reads: 40 Days Ago.

Wali Khan touches the forehead of his son. The boy


pretends to moan with fever.

Wali Khan's wife ignores the boy and tells Wali Khan,

NAFISA
Don't spoil him too much and give
him ideas that will allow him to
bunk school...

The boy complains,

KABEER
I hate school and the teacher is
mean...He shouted at me the other
day for bringing unsharpened
pencils...

Wali Khan laughs,

WALI KHAN
I'll get you a sharpener...

Lifts him off the bed. The boy shouts.

CUT TO:

EXT. KARACHI ROADS/SCHOOL - MORNING

Wali Khan and his son on his scooter.

KABEER
Why must I go to school?

WALI KHAN
Because you will learn important
things...You will a become a big
man and then drive one of those...
(Pointing to a car)
Then everyone will do salaam...

KABEER
Did you go to school?

WALI KHAN
(A bit lost)
Yes...I did...

KABEER
Did your abba drop you every
morning?

WALI KHAN
No...My nani did...

They reach the school gates.

KABEER
I would like to go to your
school...

WALI KHAN
...and why is that?...

KABEER
That way I will learn how to be a
barber like you...

Wali Khan smiles and kisses his sons forehead.

CUT TO:

10 INT. WAIL KHAN'S BARBER SHOP/NOTANDAS MARKET - DAY

Shutters are pulled up. Wali Khan in his modest barbershop.


Many customers. Mostly regular. He works diligently.
Talking. Joking.

He shuts the shop at lunch. Walks through the busy market


place. Exchanges pleasantries with other locals. Gets
onto a bus.

CUT TO:

11 INT. KARACHI CANTONMENT RAILWAY STATION - CONTINUOUS

Wali Khan walks into the train station. Stands in the


line and buys a ticket. He walks to the refreshment counter
and orders some tea and brun maska.

Then he walks casually to the lockers and opens one. Inside


a package. He takes it out and shuts the locker.

CUT TO:

12 INT. KARACHI BUS - CONTINUOUS

He opens the package. An official letter from the UK


Embassy along with some visa forms. His face lights up.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O.)


It had been 6 years since Wali
Khan had been waiting for this
very news...Everyday since Kabeer
had been born he had struggled
with the dilemma of being a father
and a soldier...And now...

13 EXT/INT. R&AW HEADQUARTERS (NEW DELHI) - CONTINUOUS

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O.)


...with my retirement around the
corner...

Ashwini Kumar gets off his lal batti car.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O.) (CONT'D)


The young family man's fate had
been decided...

Ashwini Kumar in his office. His old secretary exchanges


a look with him and continues his packing.

14 INT. WALI KHAN'S BARBER SHOP - EVENING

WALI KHAN
(On the phone)
Nafisa...I have wonderful news...

He gets distracted. Khurram Mirza and his young seven


year old son enter along with Kabeer.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


I'll tell you when I get home...

KHURRAM MIRZA
So what's the good news?...

WALI KHAN
Huh!!!...Just that we can finally
take a vacation this year...Go
off to the hills maybe...Nafisa
would like that...

A bonhomie is established. The fathers look at their boys


with pride. On the soundtrack we hear the azaan.

15 INT. MOSQUE - DAY

Mosque. Wali Khan completes his evening prayers with his


son. Commotion at the entrance. An important man has come.
Wali Khan reacts. Khurram Mirza comes to him and complains,

KHURRAM MIRZA
Because of that man my family
vacation will be canceled this
year...

WALI KHAN
Why?...

KHURRAM MIRZA
The man is Goldman and his son is
getting married...He has come to
inform the mullah and take his
blessings...Now because of the
wedding all security personnel
will have to work double time...

Wali Khan looks at Mirza.

WALI KHAN
I didn't know that you worked
with the government...

Mirza laughs.

(Laughs)
ISI...Never judge a book by its
cover...

Wali Khan smiles but seems to be distracted with the


commotion around Goldman.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O)


In the past 10 years since Wali
Khan had been sent in to monitor,
report and target the most wanted
man in India not once had he seen
him in person...Now the same man
was standing in front of him...
In the flesh...On the very day
that he had learnt that he could
leave it all and walk away...

CUT TO:

16 INT. WALI KHAN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Wali Khan watches his son sleep.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O.)


Most people would have...Walked
away...

Nafisa comes to him.

NAFISA
What's the matter?...

WALI KHAN
Huh!...Nothing!...I forgot to get
him the sharpener...

She smiles. He follows her to the room.

NAFISA
What was it that you wanted to
tell me...

He takes out the contents from his kurta pocket. The letter
from the UK Embassy.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O.)


Most people would have looked at
the history and the inaction of
our government as an excuse and
would have taken the way out...

WALI KHAN
It's not fixed yet...I will tell
you when it gets confirmed...

In the coming weeks Wali Khan too
would wonder why he didn't...But
for now...

17 INT. ASHWINI'S RAW OFFICE - DAY

Ashwini enters his office in New Delhi. Somber atmosphere.


He gets his batch of newspapers. A particular advert in
the Dawn - Karachi catches his attention. He opens the
safe and takes out a diary. Decodes the message in the
advert.

'WE CAN GET GOLDMAN. SEND TEAM. 20 DAYS PREP. 12/12/12'

18 INT. PMO - DAY

Ashwini sitting in front of the PM at the PMO. Several


others also present. A barrage of questions are aimed at
him mostly by Mishra, his successor.

OFFICIAL 1
How do we know this isn't a trap?

MISHRA
Where have you got the information
from? Wali Khan has been there
for 10yrs...How do we know he
hasn't changed sides?

OFFICIAL 2
How can we trust him?

OFFICIAL 1
Do you realize what could happen
if such an operation failed?

OFFICIAL 3
We already have enough to deal
with...Black money...Anna
Hazare...Lok Pal...

OFFICIAL 2
This could be just the reaction
the Pakistan government and ISI
would like from us...

The PM starts to speak. Ashwini voice over takes over,

ASHWINI (V.O)
Nothing had really changed...
Other than the fact that I was
retiring...This was no longer
'my' problem...And that Mishra
and his team were now incharge...

19 INT. ASHWINI'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Ashwini at home. Boxes being packed. Wife giving


instructions and relaying messages from their son in
Singapore. She realizes that he is preoccupied.

Ashwini takes a decision.

20 INT. WALI KHAN'S BARBER SHOP - DAY

Wali Khan in his shop. The delivery boy comes to take


inventory and replace supplies. They exchange a slight
look. Wali Khan opens the talcum powder canister with a
different colour cap. Reads message.

TEAM ARRIVES IN SEVEN DAYS.

21 INT. WALI KHAN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Wali Khan to his wife.

WALI KHAN
We will be moving to London...
I've made all the arrangements...
I've been saving up...I've even
spoken to your brother in
Finsbury...You leave and I will
follow...

She complains,

NAFISA
Why can't we go together?

WALI KHAN
I'm expecting some guests...

22 EXT. RANN OF KUTCH - DAY

PBS 2 (PART 1) - RAW Theme - Ref: Extreme Ways by Moby


(Bourne Ultimatum OST)

Rudra Pratap Singh is dropped off a helicopter in the


middle of the Rann. He blends into the salt pans as the
chopper takes off.

EXT. TOLI - DAY/NIGHT

He reaches a banjara toli at night. Speaks to the leader


of the toli. The toli leaves in the morning.

22A EXT. MANDVI PORT - DAY

They reach Mandvi port. The man introduces him to a fishing


trawler captain. He gets onto the boat. The boat makes
its way towards Pakistan.

EXT. FISHING TRAWLER - NIGHT

The fishing trawler is brought to a stop by the coast


guard boat at sea. The trawler captain starts to panic.
Rudra Pratap senses something amiss. The coast guards
climb onto the fishing trawler.

Rudra Pratap looks around the small dingy room to find a


route of escape.

A guard starts to question the trawler captain, as he


starts to fumble and hesitate. Another guard moves around
the trawler.

He enters the captains room, looks around and exits. The


guard starts to move towards the room Rudra Pratap is in.
He opens the door and looks around the dark room to find
it empty and walks back to the deck.

Signals its all clear and climbs back onto the coast guard
boat.

The trawler captain stands confused and relieved.

The coast guard boat begins to move away from the trawler
and in the moonlight the silhouette of Rudra Pratap hanging
onto the side deck, completely out of sight.

23 INT. KARACHI AIRPORT - DAY

Zoya Rehman lands in Karachi. Demure and very feminine she


is coming to Karachi for the first time. Following up on
an immigration case she is working on for the Bradford
City Council, UK. The immigration officer asks rudimentary
questions.

OFFICER
Where are you staying?

ZOYA
Sheraton...

24 INT/EXT. SHERATON HOTEL (PORCH) - DAY

Hotel car pulls into porch way. She gets off. Clumsily
drops her papers. The valet comes to her help. A hint of
cleavage. She covers up immediately.

ZOYA (V.O)
I had trained too hard for this
day...This was my first big
assignment...Most people felt
that I would not be up to it...

25 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (RECEPTION) - DAY

At reception she is disturbed. Her room 906 has not been


vacated. They are giving her 905. She complains. The
hotel clerk assures her they are the same type.

She says numerology. He says that he will exchange her


room as soon as it is free. Her neighbor a tradesman
from Rawalpindi and a regular at the Sheraton, Mr. Sharyar
Bhatti with a woman much younger to him, her face caked
with make up, comes to take his messages.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ELEVATOR) - DAY

They ride up together. Sharyar Bhatti unabashedly and


shamelessly gropping the younger woman. Zoya feels a bit
creeped out.

AD 3 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 905+906) - DAY

They enter their respective rooms. Zoya walks towards


the connecting door as Sharyar Bhatti begins undressing
the young woman.

21 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 1006) - DAY

The camera travels up to Saleem Pathan in 1006. The room


that has been commandeered and converted to a high tech
security surveillance facility by the people of Goldman.
Saleem satisfied leaves the room.

INT. SHERATON HOTEL (LOBBY) - DAY

Exits the elevator and into his Black Mercedes 500S. His
driver Aslam is instructed where to go.

ASLAM (V.O)
I had been driving this car for
the last 3 months...

22 INT. ARTHUR ROAD JAIL - DAY

Flash cuts Aslam in Arthur Road. In conversation with Abu


Salem. He serves his sentence and gets out.

22A EXT. WORLI KOLIWADA OVERLOOKING THE SEALINK - DAY

Meets Ashwini Kumar. Tells him that he has to kill Vikki


Thakur for Abu Salem. Ashwini gives him the go ahead.
Vikki is a scumbag in any case.

22B EXT. MUMBAI ROADS - DAY

The builder is shot.

Aslam is given the required paperwork.

22C INT. NEPAL AIRPORT - DAY

Goes to Nepal.

22D INT. CAR/KARACHI ROADS - DAY

Then Pakistan. In the employment of Saleem Pathan.

23 INT/EXT. GOLDMAN'S DEN - DAY

The car reaches Clifton Road residence of Goldman. Saleem


enters and gives full report to Bhanja.

General Pasha comes along with Khurram Mirza and Lt. Col.
Niyaaz Ahmed to meet Goldman. Tries to convince him to
not go for the wedding. Keep it all low key. Too much
stress post Osama incident with the damn US. Goldman
patronizes him. Tells Bhanja to take over. General Pasha
resents the matter being brushed aside. Tries to urge
him once again.

Goldman enters another room, comments on the curtains


being drawn. A side door opens and Hafeez Sayed walks in
with two other men. Pasha recognizes Hafeez Sayed as
Goldman takes a jibe at the ISI (Inter Services
Intelligence) and that he should be getting the services
for the money he pays. Pasha ignores the comment, looking
at Hafeez Sayed. Goldman shuts the door.

Turns to Hafeez Sayed and the meeting begins.

CUT TO:

24 INT. CLIFTON (AREA OUTSIDE) - DAY

Pasha tries to reason with Saleem Pathan while at the


same time tries to extricate information about the meeting
inside.

EXT. CAR/CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

The doors open Goldman exits. Bhanja joins him. The


cars leave.

Pasha again in the car with Goldman as Khurram Mirza and


Niyaaz Ahmed follow. Once again Pasha tries to reason
with Goldman.

25 INT. GOLDMAN'S FARMHOUSE - NIGHT

Goldman reaches farmhouse. Mujra starts. Young virgin


presented to him.

GOLDMAN
Where are you from?

PROSTITUTE
Napier Road...

26 EXT. NAPIER ROAD - NIGHT

27 INT. SURAIYA'S ROOM - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap Singh inside room. Darkened.

THE GIRL
(In one corner)
It's quite obvious that my
legendary beauty did not draw you
to my room...

She turns up the light to show her face scarred. He keeps


looking at it and says,

RUDRA PRATAP
I was told that I could spend the
whole night in this place without
questions being asked...

THE GIRL
So you've come only to sleep then
I apologize for asking a
question...

RUDRA PRATAP
I'll forgive you this time...

And proceeds to have raw, physical, unemotional, clinical


sex. They lie naked on the bed. She feels his scars,

It looks like even you have some

to reveal...

He pretends to sleep. She gets the message and shuts her


eyes. He opens them and looks at her beauty.

What was it that made me look at
her like that...Was it that we
were both scarred...But I knew
that the only way to avoid getting
more of these wounds was to cover
all traces unlike others...

28 INT. ASHWINI'S RAW OFFICE - DAY

Ashwini in his office is about to call someone. Mishra

him. Wali Khan decides to play along.

Outside Aslam pulls into parking lot.

Rudra Pratap enters.

INT. SHOPPING MALL (FOOD COURT) - DAY

They all meet at adjacent tables in the food court. Wali


Khan gives them mobiles with seven prepaid sim cards each.

Aslam needs to check out the ambulance. Zoya passes on


the list of explosives that she needs.

Under gritted teeth and suppressed anger Wali Khan and


Rudra Pratap Singh have an argument. Rudra Pratap makes
it ample clear that he is uncomfortable working with
partners.

Too many people to make too many
mistakes...

Just then Khurram reappears and takes the opposite seat.


Rudra sees Wali getting nervous. Gets up and leaves.
Aslam also leaves.

Khurram Mirza starts to joke once again. He realises that


Wali Khan is getting nervous. He tries to placate him
saying that we all have secrets. But starts to ask
questions. Wali Khan excuses himself and goes to the
rest room.

30A INT. SHOPPING MALL (RESTROOM) - DAY

Wali Khan is pinned to the restroom. Stunned by the attack


he turns to find Rudra Pratap about to strike again. He
tries to defend himself.

RUDRA PRATAP
Why were you nervous?

Wali Khan tries to deflect.

WALI KHAN
I dont need to explain myself to
you...

They have an intense hand fight in the restroom as they


crash into the basins, mirrors and break into the cubicles.
Matching blow for blow. Rudra Pratap a lot more agile,
faster and stronger than Wali Khan. He pins him against
the door once again.

RUDRA PRATAP
One last chance...The truth...Why
were you nervous?

WALI KHAN
I told you...I'm n...

Rudra Pratap reaches for the extinguisher and before Wali


Khan can react thrusts the nozzle into his mouth. He pulls
the pin as Wali Khan reacts and tries to loosen his grip.
Rudra Pratap reaches for the knob and threatens,

RUDRA PRATAP
Carbon Dioxide at a 100,000 parts
per million will enter your
lungs?...I promise you...You
will beg me to kill you before
the gas does...

Wali Khan tries to push him away, but reluctantly gives


in. Rudra Pratap pulls out the nozzle to let him speak.

WALI KHAN
He is a customer and he could
tell my wife...

Angered, Rudra Pratap pulls his hair back, turns him


around, grabs a broom and chokes him as Wali Khan cries
in pain. Rudra Pratap shoves the nozzle back into Wali
Khan's screaming mouth and releases the gas.

Wali Khan starts to splutter and bangs his wrists on the


ground in submission. Once again the nozzle is removed.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


(Gasping for breadth)
He is an agency man...

Rudra Pratap throws the extinguisher to the side as Wali

31 INT. WALI KHAN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Wali Khan at his house. Nafisa is shocked to see his


wounds. She asks him a thousand questions. He deflects
saying that he got caught up in a local brawl outside the
shop. That he was trying to mediate an argument and got
roughed up.

NAFISA
You should have gone to the
police...

WALI KHAN
We are leaving in any case...No
point getting ourselves into
trouble...

Nafisa complains that she is happy that they are leaving.

NAFISA
The neighbours were insinuating
that her husband is not all
together straight forward...How
could a barber afford to move to

man and what you see is what you

Wali Khan sleeps a fitful sleep.

They spend time inside her small room. Never leaving. He


tries his best to resist.

To keep things as clinical as possible. But slowly her


innocence, her beauty and her sheer disregard to death
starts to draw him closer and closer.

The song intercuts with Wali Khan, Nafisa and Kabeer as


they pack their belongings. Wali Khan watches as an excited
and sightly nervous Nafisa fumbles around trying to choose
what to pack and what not to.

They visit the travel agency to collect their tickets,


Wali Khan shows an excited Kabeer various pictures of
London, The London Eye, The Wax Museum, the amusements
parks. Kabeer asks his father if he can take the brochure
home, Wali Khan smiles.

The travel agent presents them with Nafisa and Kabeer's


passport with their visas stamped. A slightly
uncomfortable and worried Wali Khan asks them if they
know anything about his pending visa. The travel agent
casually remarks that they needed to do a background check,
since they too must be wondering how a barber could afford
to relocate his whole family. He assures them that its
nothing to worry about. Nafisa again starts to defend
her husband while Wali Khan tries to calm her down as the
travel agent's assistant comes in with his passport and
the visa stamp. A relieved Wali Khan walks out of the
travel agency with his family.

Rudra Pratap and the Girl get better acquainted. They


laugh. Laugh like they never have laughed before.

The family visits Nafisa's relatives to say goodbye. A


happy and proud Nafisa exchanges a look with Wali Khan as
family members shower praises on him. The old uncles
praise him for being such a doting father. The aunts and
young brides tease their husbands asking them to be as
loving as Wali Khan is towards Nafisa.
Kabeer sits with a bunch of his young cousins, showing
off about London through the brochure pictures, as they
look on wide eyed.

The Girl brings out her mobile phone and starts to click
photos.

Rudra Pratap smiles and lets her. She teases him and
they end in bed. Making love.

Intercut with Nafisa and Wali Khan making love in their


bed.

Wali Khan lies next to his wife, as Rudra Pratap lies


next to The Girl. Both men lie awake while the women
sleep. Both men look at the women lying by their side.

Rudra Pratap gets up, out of bed and takes her phone and
starts to delete the photos.

He hears a familiar sound and reacts. The cocking of a


gun.

Slowly he turns to find the girl standing with his gun in


her hand. He looks at her. She looks at the mobile in
his hand. Then at him. She smiles slowly and hands him
the gun. He takes it and hands her the mobile.

RUDRA PRATAP
I can explain...

GIRL
There is no need...The less I
know the better it is...That way
when they come looking for you I
will have nothing to reveal...

Rudra Pratap reacts.

GIRL (CONT'D)

33 INT. GUN SHED - DAY

A gun is checked in a darkened room. Wali Khan with Rudra


Pratap. He seems to be satisfied.

WALI KHAN
Where are the explosives?

BROKER
It's coming..Straight from the
bhatti...

Wali Khan looks confused. The broker volunteers that he


is getting it from the guys who are meant to confiscate
it in the first place. Wali Khan and Rudra don't really
care as long as they can have it until the door opens and
the man selling them the explosives is standing in front
of him - Khurram Mirza.

Khurram Mirza reacts on seeing Wali Khan. He immediately


reaches for his gun. Rudra Pratap sensing the movement
deftly lunges to tackle Mirza. Rudra Pratap in a quick
movement attacks Mirza turns the gun on his own two men
and shoots them between the eyes. Then in a flash he
disarms Mirza.

Wali Khan screams and pushes Rudra Pratap away. Khurram


Mirza sensing an opportunity for escape, flees.

Rudra Pratap chases after him, tucking Mirza's gun into


his jeans.

33A INT. GUEST HOUSE - DAY

Khurram Mirza runs through the market area and enters a


guest house. Rudra Pratap follows him in.

They weave through corridors, the staircase, rooms.

Rudra Pratap lunges and attacks Mirza on the stairs. Hand


to hand combat. Mirza manages to escape.

Jumps into an adjoining building though the window. Rudra


jumps trying to catch him. Once again Rudra catches hold
of him. The hand combat continues as each one tries to
pin the other down.

Mirza and Rudra Pratap at the edge of the window. The


only escape route for Rudra Pratap is to jump as Mirza
dashes blow after blow.

Rudra Pratap throws himself along with Mirza out of the


window. Rudra Pratap takes the gun out and shoots Mirza
in mid air.

EXT. MARKET PLACE - DAY

Mirza's body lands bang in the middle of the market place.


Rudra Pratap lands on top of Mirza's lifeless body. Rudra
Pratap recovers. Hurt and injured he silently slips away.

34 EXT. MARKET AREA - DAY

Pakistan police investigation. General Pasha and Niyaaz


Ahmed look at the three bodies lying on the street.

COP
It looks like the guys were caught
up in some gang warfare type of
thing...

Pasha ignores him.

Rudra Pratap Singh goes to the Karachi docks. Makes


contact with the fishing trawler that got him across.
Meets the captain. Gives him a diamond.

The trawler captain puts his hand out once again and Rudra
Pratap places 4 more diamonds in it.

Ashwini Kumar watches the news at the airport. All channels


talking about the government's inaction and how the wedding
is happening in full view.

start a recce of the basement parking, the service
elevator, and other areas.

The four regroup. Zoya and Wali Khan explain the plan.
They use the hotel stationary. Wali Khan absentmindedly
puts the stationary in his bag.

Aslam tries to get the invitation card from the car. Almost
gets caught by Saleem Pathan.

Goldman meets with Pasha and the LeT operative.

Zoya smuggles the guns and explosives into the hotel.


She's carrying porcelain statues, one of them breaks while
putting it through the x-ray machine. She starts creating
a scene. The security apologizes and allows her to take
the other statues through without passing it through any
security check. She passes through the side door, relieved
when she accidentally comes across Bhanja. Bhanja begins
to checks her out as he leaves the hotel premises.

Rudra Pratap follows the man the Girl pointed out.

Aslam enters the Clifton residence. Runs into Goldman.


Manages to steal two invitations.

Wali Khan sits in the back room of his barber shop. He


looks at the gun. Dismantles it. Takes the magazine out.
Puts it back in. Starts the process once again trying to
get familiar with it.

36p INT. RECEPTION - DAY

Zoya finds out that the room 906 will not be vacated.

36q EXT. NAPIER ROAD - DAY

Rudra Pratap massacres the man.

36r INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM 905) - NIGHT

Zoya makes up her mind. Complete physical transformation.

Wali Khan meets up with Municipal van and checks out 3


bodies (Male, female and child). Transports them into the
ambulance.

Zoya meets Sharyar Bhatti at the bar. Strikes up a


conversation.

The Girl turns on the light. Is shocked to find Rudra


Pratap bathed in blood. They don't speak at all. She
starts to undress him and then cleans his body with water.
She cries as they make love.

Zoya and Sharyar Bhatti exit from the elevator. They walk
to their rooms. She enters his room. The door closes.

Next morning. An LeT Operative (one of the men we see at


Goldman's house) with Hafeez Sayed enters the Delhi Metro
Station with a bag. Rush hour. He enters the train. Sits
in his place and places the bag effectively. Gets up at
the next station. Train leaves and enters the tunnel.
Blinding light.

Wali Khan watches the news at the airport as he bids


farewell to his family.

Zoya watches the news on the television in her room. The


connecting door is open. Sharyar Bhatti is still in bed.

36z INT. SURAIYA'S ROOM - DAY

Rudra Pratap watches the news on a small television in


the Girl's room.

37 INT/EXT. SALEEM PATHAN'S CAR - DAY

Aslam listens to the news at Saleem Pathan's house.

Goldman calls Moin (his son) to the room. He watches the


television news. News Channel is talking about the carnage
and the fact that Goldman is going to celebrate his sons
wedding unabashedly.

He points to the television,

Wali Khan brings the bodies into the house. Starts to rig

She reacts and goes into the inner room. He picks up the
money and opens the door. He hesitates for a second.

Then leaves. The door closes behind him.

Wali Khan's house catches on fire.

43 EXT. KARACHI ROAD - DAY

Wali Khan parks the ambulance in the appointed lane. He


exits the ambulance carrying a suit.

Rudra Pratap drives a car into the Sheraton. The routine


car check is carried out by security. The boot, glove box
and engine of the car is checked. All clear.

Rudra Pratap drives his car into P3 and heads to elevator.

Aslam drives his car in. Saleem Pathan and his wife get
out. Aslam drives the car into P1 using the special pass.

Zoya starts to get ready.

Rudra Pratap Singh exits the elevator on the 10th floor.

The flight at the airport is cancelled. Volcanic ash. Nafisa


in panic. Tries her husband. Can't get through. Calls
neighbour. Learns of the fire. More panic. A police
official notices her plight. Offers to help.

Outside Wali Khan's house the local policeman talks on


the phone and confirms fire with entire family inside.

45B INT. KARACHI AIRPORT (OFFICIAL'S ROOM) - EVENING

Airport policeman gets suspicious. Asks Nafisa and son to


come to inner room. Nafisa thanks him for his help and
comes in. He asks questions about Wali Khan. Nafisa starts
to get confused.

46 EXT. CLIFTON - EVENING

The cars start to leave from Clifton.

46A INT. SHERATON HOTEL (BALLROOM) - EVENING

Mika freaking out on stage.

46B INT. KARACHI AIRPORT (OFFICIAL'S ROOM) - EVENING

Police continue interrogation at airport. Son's pencil


slips from hand. Rolls to the floor. The policeman picks
up the pencil and reads on it 'Sheraton Hotel' He picks up
mobile.

46C INT. SHERATON HOTEL (BALLROOM) - EVENING

General Pasha gets a phone call.

46D EXT. KARACHI AIRPORT (PORCH) - NIGHT

Cars enter the hotel.

46E INT. SHERATON HOTEL (10TH FLOOR) - NIGHT

Pasha runs to Bhanja and tells him. They start to run


towards the elevators. Get thrown backwards by the blast
in the adjoining room. Bhanja manages to get up and get
to a phone.

46F INT. SHERATON HOTEL (SERVICE ELEVATOR + SHAFT) - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap blows the elevator roof open. He throws in a


smoke canister. Bang Bang. Both guards go down. Rudra
Pratap jumps into the elevator. Holds the gun to Goldman.
Knocks on the door.

46G INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT P3) - NIGHT

The doors to the elevator open. Wali Khan. A car comes


screeching. Aslam. They take hold of Goldman.

Walk to the car when suddenly the first bullet is fired.


Wali Khan gets hit.

Rudra Pratap and Aslam react as they are met with a volley
of gunfire. Rudra Pratap manages to hold onto Goldman as
he hits the ground. Goldman kicks him in the face trying
to get free. Rudra Pratap reels backwards with the blow,
momentarily letting go of Goldman. Frame Freezes.

WALI KHAN (V.O)


Was this the first thing to have
gone wrong...No!...But this was
the one thing that should not
have gone wrong...How did it all
go wrong was a question that we
would ask later on...At this point
we needed to make it right...

FRAME UNFREEZES

Aslam opens the passenger door and tries to pull the


injured Wali Khan into the car.

Goldman scrambles away as far as he can from Rudra Pratap.


Amidst the aimless firing Rudra Pratap lunges towards
Goldman. He grabs hold of Goldman's collar and tries to
drag him to the car.

Bhanja and Saleem Pathan come out with guns blazing as a


fresh round of bullets are fired.

Goldman puts up a strong fight as he kicks and lashes out


at Rudra Pratap. Rudra Pratap tries in vain to hold onto
him not once bothering about the onslaught of bullets.

Aslam tries covering for Rudra Pratap and fires at Bhanja


and his men.

Wali Khan realising its a losing battle yells,

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


Let him go...Get into the
car...Just get in...

Rudra Pratap looses his grip on Goldman as Aslam slams


the accelerator. The car begins to screech and swerve.
Bullets everywhere.

Rudra Pratap dives into the car. He reaches into his


pockets and pulls out a phone. Presses a key. The car
Rudra Pratap drove in blows up. The men are covered in
rubble.

Wali Khan looks at him and at the phone in his hand.

RUDRA PRATAP
Told you I like to work by
myself...

Aslam finds it hard to see. Rudra Pratap shifts the car


into reverse.

RUDRA PRATAP (CONT'D)


Go...Go...Go now...

Aslam presses madly on the gas. The car flies backward


pumelling bodies and other cars. It smashes through the
wall falling 3 floors onto the main street.

46j INT. SHERATON HOTEL (PARKING LOT P3) - NIGHT

The dust settles. Bhanja helps Goldman up who is furious


with rage.

47 EXT. SHERATON HOTEL - NIGHT

Outside the hotel security and Goldman's men reach the


Black Mercedes 500S. Its empty.

Paramedics and emergency services are seen all around the


hotel premises.

48 EXT. ROAD OUTSIDE SHERATON - NIGHT

An ambulance door opens. 3 men get in. Wali Khan, Rudra


Pratap Singh and Aslam. Zoya drives the ambulance.

49 INT. SHERATON HOTEL (ROOM) - NIGHT

Bhanja and Pasha enter the room where Goldman is being


tended. He looks up. He knows from their expression that
they have escaped. He calmly looks at Saleem Pathan and
says,

GOLDMAN
I want this city shut down...They
will not escape...

50 INT. KARACHI ROADS - NIGHT

The ambulance drives down the highway. The passengers sit


quietly.

INTERVAL

AD 4 INT/EXT. VARIOUS - NIGHT

Shots of Karachi being closed down. The airport, the


docks, the railways. The police and ISI shut down all
points of exit. Images of Zoya, Wali Khan, Aslam and
Rudra Pratap are circulated among the Police, security
and other agencies.

EXT. KARACHI ROADS - NIGHT

The gang ditches the ambulance on an empty street. Rudra


Pratap finds a car around the corner. He jacks open the
car and they head to the garage.

The car stops outside the garage. They step out and help
an injured Wali Khan as Aslam drives the car in. Aslam
gets out and locks the garage from the outside. He re-
enters the garage through the side window and locks it
behind him.

51 EXT. KARACHI NAVAL BASE - NIGHT

A car passes the security barriers at the Naval Base PNS


Mehran - Karachi.

51A INT. NIYAAZ AHMED'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Nafisa and her young son look on confused. The


interrogating officer from the airport also looks a bit
intimidated by the surroundings.

On the soundtrack we hear a man introducing himself as


Lt. Col. Niyaaz Ahmed. Nafisa sits in his office. It all
looks very unofficial and comfortable. Important to not
let her feel any panic. A plate of food and cold drinks
is brought in and he sits down offering it to the boy.
The boy looks at his mother who gestures that he can have
it. The boy starts to eat the snacks hungrily.

NAFISA (quietly)
Have you found out any more news
about my husband...The fire in
the house...Is it true that he's
dead?

Niyaaz Ahmed confirms that he is alive. She heaves a sigh


of relief and mutters a silent prayer. He smiles,

Where were you traveling?

NAFISA
Taking a flight to London via
Doha...

NIYAAZ

He makes a general observation that,

Nafisa starts to defend her husband when Niyaaz Ahmed


opens a file and presents a bank statement to her. The
amount reads Rs. 17,421/-

There has been no withdrawal from

the tickets?

Nafisa starts to get nervous,

NAFISA
I would like to speak to my

She reaches into her bag and takes out her mobile. Dials.

Is it disconnected?

She looks at him, Her nervousness getting elevated. Ahmed


puts on the television. The news channels detailing the
blast at the Sheraton. She looks at it. He comes and sits
next to her.

NIYAAZ (CONT'D)
The blast was carried out by 4
RAW agents...Indian spies...We
believe your husband was the
mastermind...

Her head starts to reel. She gets up to go. Picks up her


son and reaches the door when the security stands in her
way.

The standard Government issued car is ushered through the


security cordon at PM's residence. Ashwini gets off and
is escorted through a corridor.

54A INT. PMO - NIGHT

Ashwini sits in front of the PM. The room is a buzz with


activity however; everyone seems to be concentrating on
Ashwini and what he has to say. He remains quiet. The PM
looks perplexed and says,

I am stunned that no information
is forthcoming from the RA&W
chief...How many agents were there?

Someone volunteers that from the information they have


received they think they were 4 operatives. Ashwini still
remains quiet.

Ashwini reaches the hoards of PRESS gathered outside the


gates.

activities as demonstrated in this mornings blast.

We have been dealing with these

The gang of four watches the press conference on a small


television.

needs to admit that Goldman is

One of the other reporters asks why he was retiring


prematurely. Mishra intervenes and says that,

The reporters start to ask a million questions when the


four of them watching the news understand that they have
been left to fend for themselves.

56 INT. PMO - NIGHT

Ashwini signs the document of resignation that is presented


to him handing over complete charge to Mishra as he watches
the proceedings on the television in the PMO.

57 EXT. PMO - NIGHT

He walks out slowly and starts to walk towards his car.


Suddenly he falters a bit and a security guard and
secretary rush to help him. He apologizes and they feel a
bit sympathetic for the aging ex head of RA&W. He thanks
them and walks off and then opens his palm to reveal the
mobile that he just lifted from the secretary. He dials a
number.

57A INT. GARAGE - NIGHT

Wali Khan answers the telephone in the garage. He listens


silently,

ASHWINI
The Indian government is washing
their hands off this entire
matter...

WALI KHAN
We had anticipated this
response...Do you have any
information where the leak could
have come from...

(In the background the television plays the news of flights


being grounded due to volcanic ash in Europe. Wali Khan
has his back to the television)

ASHWINI
I've insured that it was not from
this end as only I knew and still
know...It has to be from that end
and you need to figure out a way
to get out, as the other side
will have also started piecing
the puzzle together...

58 INT. GOLDMAN'S DEN - NIGHT

Bhanja and Saleem Pathan look up as General Shuja Pasha


and Niyaaz Ahmed complete giving the report to Goldman.
They have already identified Aslam, Zoya and now thanks
to Nafisa they have all the information on Wali Khan.

GOLDMAN
What about the fourth man?

They have no information on him as yet. Just then the


door is opened and Goldman's wife disturbs the meeting.
She comes and whispers to him.

58A INT. GOLDMAN'S DEN (STUDY) - NIGHT

He gets up and walks out where the bride's father is


seated. He takes him to the other room and listens for a
few minutes as the man tries his best to impress upon him
for a postponement. Goldman puts his hand up and says,

GOLDMAN
There will be no postponement...
The functions will proceed as
planned...My son will get
married...

He looks at the man in the eyes and asks him if he


understood. The man says nothing. Goldman gets up and
comes back in the room. Enraged he loses his cool,

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
I want everyone associated with
this attack...Everyone...

Bhanja who has been on the phone turns to his uncle,

BHANJA
I will have it all sorted...The
four will not escape...

EXT. GARAGE - NIGHT

A police car pulls up outside the garage. Aslam hearing


the sound of car tyres moves towards the window. He sees
the policemen alight from the car and question a man on
the street. The policeman looks towards the garage.
Aslam slinks away into the darkness.

The policeman walks towards the front door of the garage


and pushes and pulls to try and open the lock.

Rudra Pratap pulls his gun out ready to take him down.
Zoya does the same.

The policeman retreats and drives away in the car.

59 INT. GARAGE - NIGHT

Aslam is in full panic. He knows that he will be the first


to have been identified. Aslam asks Rudra Pratap,

ASLAM
Maybe we should use the same route
as planned before...
(To Rudra)
Are you going to the docks?...

Rudra says nothing.

WALI KHAN
We will need to inform the
commission...They will get us
out...

ASLAM
Why will they...You heard them...
On the television...On the phone...
What did the old man say?...We
are on our own...

WALI KHAN
That is not entirely true...There
is protocol...

Rudra Pratap finishes shaving and cutting his hair. He


looks like a different man.

RUDRA PRATAP
(Completing his
packing)
You're now on your own...My job
was to come in and complete the
mission and now since the mission
has failed we are on our own once

60 EXT. NAPIER ROAD - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap reaches Napier Road. The whole street is


bustling with activity. General Pasha is firing Niyaaz
Ahmed for not taking control earlier.

He reprimands him,

GENERAL PASHA
He cannot have this becoming a
personal vendetta of one insane
man...

Rudra knows something has gone horribly wrong. He walks


through the crowd as he watches people coming out of the
small room that used to be his haven till not long ago.

Then he sees her. Mutilated. Unrecognisable. Her body is


brought out.

He stares at it and then sees Bhanja hands bloodied coming


out of the house. Looking manic. He walks past Rudra
Pratap and sits into his car. They drive off.

Wali Khan, completely transformed as well and Zoya reach


the railway station. Wali Khan opens the locker. Inside a
message. A time and an address.

Ashwini sits troubled in his house. His wife comes and


sits next to him.

INT/EXT. TEA STALL - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap sits at a local tea stall waiting. Rudra


Pratap waits for the last of the police to clear off the
premises.

AD 5 INT. SURAIYA'S ROOM - NIGHT

He enters slowly. The room looks like wreck. It smells of


blood. He can hear her screams of pleading. He can hear
the manic threats of Bhanja.

He watches in clear detail as THE GIRL's torture and death


replay in front of him. The violence and the pleasure
with which Bhanja physically tears her apart.

EXT. NAPIER ROAD - NIGHT

Rudra walks out through Napier Road as the images of


Suraiya's death are interspersed with the time he spent
with her and Bhanja walking out of her room covered in
her blood. Rudra Pratap shuts his eyes.

66 EXT. KARACHI DOCKS - NIGHT

Bhanja and his goons enter the Karachi docks. He is shown


the diamond and is introduced to the trawler captain.

66A EXT. KARACHI DOCKS - NIGHT

Aslam gets off a bus close to the docks. He scales a couple


of walls and reaches the pier from where they were supposed
to get onto the trawler.

66B INT. TRAWLER - NIGHT

He enters the boathouse quietly.

The captain is seated with his back to him. He closes the


door behind him and walks to the captain who seems to be
drunk and passed out. He nudges him ever so slightly.
The captain's head just falls off. Decapitated. Aslam
screams but no sound comes out. Horrified he reels
backwards and falls to the ground.

He crawls to the door and opens it to find himself staring


into the face of Bhanja.

67 EXT. EMPRESS MARKET - NIGHT

Wali Khan and Zoya enter the Empress Market in Karachi.


It is bustling with activity even though it's way past
midnight. They try to be casual looking for the shop
where they are supposed to meet their contact. Zoya looks
around and then asks quietly,

ZOYA
What was the shops name?

Wali Khan looks at the scrap of paper in his hand,

WALI KHAN
Al Mansour Sweets...

They cross a junction. A shopkeeper looks at them and


then takes out a mobile phone and dials.

67A INT. DIPANKAR GHOSH'S OFFICE - NIGHT

The phone is picked up in Islamabad - Dipankar Ghosh yells,

DIPANKAR GHOSH
Have you got them?

The shopkeeper starts to walk behind them and speaks,

SHOPKEEPER
They've just come sir...They are
walking towards the drop point...

DIPANKAR
How many?

SHOPKEEPER
Two sir...A male late thirties
and a woman...

DIPANKAR
(Curses under his
breath)
Fuck! They must have split
up...Okay take care of these two
and try to get them alive so we
can figure out where the other
two are?

The shopkeeper/agent acknowledges and speaks into a walkie-


talkie. Another agent gets alerted and acknowledges that
he can see them approaching. Zoya notices the shop first
and gestures in the direction.

Wali Khan looks at the direction in which Zoya is pointing


and starts to move. Over the crowd he sees the man
recognizing him. They make eye contact. He starts to
move cautiously. The man listens on his earpiece.

DIPANKAR (CONT'D)
Take them alive...

He watches Wali Khan walking trying to look as casual as


possible when he stops suddenly. A couple of cops walk
by. Zoya and Wali Khan turn towards a shop window
pretending to window shop. The contact at the store
watches them wait for the cops to leave and then sees
Zoya turn and start walking. She stops when she realizes
that Wali Khan is not following. She turns to find him
transfixed at the shop window.

ZOYA
What's the matter?

WALI KHAN
I can't go...

He says without taking his eyes out of the window,

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


I know how they found out...It
all makes sense now...

She looks at what he has been watching. A row of


televisions in the electronic shop window. All showing
the bombing and then the airports closed in Europe because
of volcanic ash. The agents wonder what has made him
stop. They talk on the walkie-talkie. Dipankar wonders
what has happened.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


I need to make a call...

Wali Khan says with panic all over his eyes and starts to
look for a phone booth. He starts to walk in the opposite
direction. Zoya pleads with him,

ZOYA
Just come back...We can figure
this out later...

The agents wonder what to do?

DIPANKAR
Maybe he knows...Take him down...

Wali Khan walks fast through the market looking for a


phone. Zoya tries to reason with him.

WALI KHAN
Carry on without me...I am not
going to leave...

The agents start to close in when he sees a phone and


starts to run towards it. He almost reaches the phone
when the first agent comes bang in front of him. Wali
Khan looks at him and at the gun that he is concealing.

AGENT
You need to come with us...

Zoya turns and find the other agent behind them.

WALI KHAN
I need to make a phone call...I
need to understand if my wife and
son are all right?

AGENT
You can make...

Wali Khan does not wait for the man to finish his sentence
he lunges for his gun and fires in the air. There is
pandemonium in the market. The cops turn and run. Wali
Khan kicks the man and Zoya throws chilly powder in the
other agents face. He screams in agony. Wali Khan looks
at Zoya.

ZOYA
Don't even suggest it...I'm coming
with you...

They run into the crowd.

68 INT. TRAWLER - NIGHT

Aslam's head is pulled back. Half dead. Bhanja stands


above him with a fish hook dripping with blood. Bhanja
himself looks possessed and demonic.

BHANJA
Where are the others?

Aslam knows that he is dead even if he tells them. He


just wishes the ordeal would be over. That this crazy man
would get over and done with. He decides to provoke him.

He calls him close saying that he is ready to tell. Bhanja


leans forward when Aslam spits on him.

Enraged Bhanja raises his weapon when the door flies open.
Saleem Pathan screams at him to stop. Then looks at the
other men and orders them to bring Aslam with them.

69 EXT. PIER - NIGHT

Aslam is pushed into the back of a car. Saleem Pathan


sits at the back with him as Bhanja takes the seat in the
first car. The cavalcade begins to make their way out of
the docks. They begin to pick up speed racing down the
pier. Aslam can barely keep his head up when he feels a
huge impact.

Glass shatters all around him. He feels his head spinning.


He tries to focus and opens his eyes to see the car
spinning out of control. He sees the stunned expression
in Saleem Pathan's face. Then he sees the reason for their
surprise. The reason for the impact.

Rudra Pratap Singh spins his car deftly maneuvering both


cars so that they go into an unending spin. He shoots as
his car pivots around taking out the driver of the car
behind Aslam's car. That car loses control and finds
itself in the water.

The car in front slams its brakes. Bhanja and the goons
come out to find a hail of bullets finding their mark.
Rudra Pratap looks like a man possesed when he sees Bhanja.
He slams his break and breaks free from the spin deftly
even as Aslam's car continues to spin.

He fires at the windshield and shatters the glass with


his fist. Bhanja looks at his adversary. The two men
start to fire at each other when Goldmans's goons pull
Bhanja away and take him away in the car screaming to be
left behind. Rudra Pratap turns his attention to spinning
car. He shifts gears. Slams the acclerator and pummels
into the spinning car. It flies and lands on its side.
He gets out of the car. Gun on his side. Pulls open the
door even as Bhanja and Saleem Pathan try to recover from
the shock. He wrenches the half dead Aslam out. Pushes
him into this car. Puts the car into gear and presses
down on the accelerator. The car flies out of the dock
area.

70 INT. DOCTOR'S CLINIC - NIGHT

A government car screeches to a halt outside the private


clinic of a doctor. General Shuja Pasha and Lt. Col.
Niyaaz Ahmed walk through the corridor looking extremely
disturbed. Goldman looks up when they enter as the doctor
completes stitching up Bhanja.

Saleem Pathan looks a wreck himself on the other bed.


General Pasha looks at the injured then at Goldman and is

about to say something when Goldman puts his hand up and


says,

GOLDMAN
I know what you're going to say...
The chutiya got carried away...He
wants to impress me...Bloody mother
fucker...
(To Bhanja)
Apologize to the General...All
your stupid, dirty work will have

do such stupid things then you

He slaps him hard.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
I hate failures...What's the point
in cutting the head of fisherman?
If you have to cut the head of
anybody it should have been that
chutiya who held the gun to my
head...Anyway apologize to the
General...APOLOGISE!!!

Bhanja gets up to apologize. General Pasha knows its all


drama.

Pasha sits in the car controlling his temper.

(To Niyaaz Ahmed)
Fix a meeting with the ISI chief...
Things are getting out of hand
and need to be stopped...

71 INT/EXT. GARAGE - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap Singh slowly turns into the deserted alley


of the garage. He stops the car outside and carries the
half dead Aslam inside the garage. Zoya sees his state
and runs to help him.

RUDRA PRATAP
(To Zoya)
What's the matter?

We know what went wrong in the
mission...

Rudra Pratap gets distracted by the television that Wali


Khan is watching. The report confirms that a young boy, a
victim of the Sheraton Bombing has been found. His mother
is dead and they are looking for a father, any relative.
A number flashes for any information regarding the parents.
Wali Khan keeps looking at the photograph of his son. His
eyes well up with tears. He looks at Rudra Pratap Singh
and asks him quietly,

WALI KHAN
How do you think they would have
killed her?

Rudra Pratap says nothing. Wali Khan pulls out a mat and
kneels down to pray for forgiveness and for peace in
heaven. Rudra Pratap watches him. The television keeps
flashing the photographs.

72 INT. ASHWINI'S HOUSE - DAY

On the soundtrack we hear knocking on a door. Ashwini


opens his bedroom door.

DOMESTIC HELP
Some men have come to see you
from the Directorate...The
Enforcement Directorate...

He looks nonplussed and walks out. The man in charge a


Mr. Yadav pulls out a document alleging some kind of
discrepancy with accounts in Singapore with his sons
business etc and allowing them the right to search the
premises. Ashwini's wife Sumitra comes out looking
harassed and worried.

ASHWINI
Nothing to worry about...Can you
make some tea? These gentlemen
will be here for sometime...

She looks at him and then understands that he is serious.


She goes inside.

The men proceed to tear the place apart. He watches calmly.

The main door suddenly opens and Mishra comes in. He


proceeds to feign ignorance and surprise on the on going
raid.

He demands to see the documents and begins to make the


correct noise ordering that the Ex - Head of RA&W be left
alone.

ASHWINI (CONT'D)
Calm down...Sumitra, bring another
cup of tea please for Mishra, he
looks tired...Obviously he has
been spending sleepless nights...
How come you've dropped by...

Mishra shows him photographs of Wali Khan and Zoya at the


Empress Market.

MISHRA
They walked away instead of making
contact...You really need to start
talking, as it is only a matter
of time before we piece everything
together...Send them a message
that they can all be brought
back...

Ashwini laughs.

ASHWINI
The offer is tempting but the
problem with temptation is that
it can sometimes kill you, destroy

Mishra wonders what the Ex - Head is talking about when


his wife enters with the tea and some Bengali sweets.

Just then a man enters with a manila envelope from


Ashwini's desk and embarrassingly hands it to Mishra. He
opens it and finds photographs of him and a Bengali woman
in extremely compromising positions. Mishra can feel his
blood pressure rising.

RUDRA PRATAP SINGH (V.O.)


We all had our weaknesses...The
question was what were willing to
do, what lengths were we willing
to go...

73 INT. GARAGE - DAY

Wali Khan slowly walks across the garage. Zoya is asleep


in the chair beside the makeshift bed where Aslam lies
recuperating.

He opens the door of the garage and moves to the car.

Even I thought that I would be
able to save her...Protect her...
Keep her away from harm...I would
look into her eyes and become
blind to the death warrant that I
was issuing in her name...I would
get lost in her hair and just

would feel the shudder that ran

and other paraphernalia are used to indicate landmarks.
The four of them stand over the table. He speaks pointing

75A INT. GOLDMAN'S DEN - DAY

Intercut of the house, the nikaah taking place and all


the elements as he speaks.

He details out exactly where they can expect the guards


to be positioned. The distance of the first security
cordon from the main gates. The press and OB vans that
will be gathered to shoot the event. To try and get any
kind of footage.

RUDRA
The guests will be arriving for
the reception and to bless the
couple...

He describes how Zoya will have to get to an enetring car


pretending to be a reporter and fix an explosive device.
How he will take out the guards on the roof. The LPG
cylinders that they will need to stack up in the OB van.

RUDRA (CONT'D)
Aslam will drive the van through
the gates to where Goldman should
be standing to receive the guests
after the nikaah...

He emphasizes the place that the van needs to reach to


create the most impact and damage.

76 INT/EXT. GARAGE - DAY

A high profile military car arrives at the cordon. The


press starts to surround it as the security tries to keep
them at bay. Zoya pushes through the crowd and fixes the
explosive device.

The car is ushered through the chaos and commotion. Zoya


gets back to the Ob Van. The van starts. Wali Khan seated
on the bike looks at Aslam as Zoya gives a once over to
the LPG cylinders that have been stacked in the back of
the van.

Rudra Pratap checks his guns and sits pillion on the bike.
Zoya comes and takes the front seat. She nods to Wali
Khan. He starts the bike.

77 INT. GOLDMAN'S DEN - DAY

General Pasha looks at Lt. Col Niyaaz Ahmed and signals


to him. Niyaaz gestures that they are all set. Pasha goes
up to Goldman,

PASHA
We need to move to the safe house
now...

Goldman looks at him and walks off. Pasha and Niyaaz


wonder what he is up to. He goes up to his son and
daughter-in-law and blesses them. Kisses them on their
foreheads and then walks back.

78 EXT. CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

The military car with the explosive device slowly starts


to make its way to the main gate. The van and bike starts
to drive up the road leading to the bungalow. In the
distance they can see the security cordon. Wali Khan
looks at Aslam in his rear view.

79 EXT. GOLDMAN'S DEN - DAY

Goldman sits in his car. The ISI security guards all get
into their vehicles. Pasha and Niyaaz Ahmed sit with
him. Suddenly he gets off. They get startled.

GOLDMAN
Bhanja...

They look at each other.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
Come with us...

Pasha curses under his breath.

80 EXT. CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

The van and bike reach their positions. Rudra Pratap looks
at the guards at the security cordon as well as the gate.
He knows he will only get one chance. He will have to
take them out or else Aslam will not be able to drive
into the compound. Wali Khan closes his eyes in one silent
prayer. Then shifts gears. The bike takes off.

80A EXT. CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

Zoya looks at her detonator and then at Aslam as he starts


to accelerate. His hands gripping the steering tighter.

80B EXT. CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

The military car reaches the main gate. The suicide mission
moves at top speed towards the Clifton house. Rudra Pratap
waits for the correct time. He starts to make up his
mind as to who needs to be taken out first.

80C EXT. GOLDMAN'S DEN/CLIFTON ROAD - DAY

Just then the gates of the bungalow open. The cavalcade


starts to make their way out. Wali Khan comes to a
screeching halt. Aslam dives into a side lane. They watch
the cavalcade leaving. Wali Khan looks at Rudra Pratap
Singh,

WALI KHAN
He's leaving?

81 INT/EXT. CAR/KARACHI ROADS - DAY

The cavalcade starts to gather momentum and speed. Inside


the limousine Bhanja checks his phone. He dials a number.
A voice answers animatedly.

BHANJA
Calm down!

Pasha looks at Niyaaz Ahmed. Goldman pays no attention.

BHANJA(casually) (CONT'D)
I just saw your missed calls.. I
was busy with the nikaah...

The voice at the other end says,

VOICE ON PHONE
They are going to take him down
on the way to the safe house...

Bhanja let's the news sink in trying his best not to react.
Pasha starts to get suspicious of the phone call.

BHANJA
I can't help you,I'm on the way
with bhai in the car...You need
to speak with Saleem and ask him
to help you...

Goldman looks up. Bhanja gestures casually that it's no


big deal.

BHANJA (CONT'D)
Yes he too has been busy with the
nikaah...I will send you another
number...Khuda Hafiz!

He puts down the phone and proceeds to send the number to


the caller. Then casually turns to Pasha and Ahmed.

81A INT/EXT. CAR/DIRT ROAD - EVENING

The car reaches the expressway and starts to race down at


top speed. Then it suddenly takes a detour. Bhanja notices
it before Goldman who makes a casual remark,

GOLDMAN
So the ISI has a new safe house?

Bhanja starts to send out an sms when Pasha draws his


weapon. Ahmed also does the same. Goldman looks at him. A
bit surprised. Bhanja reacts. Goldman tells him to stop.
Ahmed reaches for Bhanja and disarms him. The cars turn
into a dirt road off the expressway. They stop.

The guards all surround the car.

PASHA (To Goldman)


Get out...

He does as he is told followed by Bhanja. He looks at


Pasha,

GOLDMAN
I must thank you for allowing me
to complete the nikaah...

PASHA
(Smirks)
It's the least I could do...

GOLDMAN
So how is this going to work? I
get in the car and you blow it up
pretending it was another attack
or you riddle the car with bullets
or...

Pasha is about to speak when Goldman raises his hands.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
Whatever you're planning, do it
quickly because if I know my nephew
he must have already sent out a
message to Pathan after receiving
that earlier phone call...

Pasha looks at Ahmed who takes out Bhanja's mobile and


checks his last sms to Pathan. Pasha turns to Goldman
when the first bullet is fired.

Ahmed goes down like a sitting duck. Pasha reacts. Goldman


and Bhanja also react. Three other commandos go down.
BANG BANG BANG.

Then Pasha sees him. Rudra Pratap getting ready to fire


again. Pasha and the other commandos start to fire in
that direction. Wali Khan joins in.

Bhanja thinking that it is Saleem and his men and sensing


an opportunity gets to a fallen commando and picks up his
automatic machine gun. Possessed he starts firing. The
other commandos get hit. Pasha ducks for cover.

Rudra Pratap watches Bhanja opening fire. He runs towards


him. Bhanja sees him approaching. He turns to him to fire.
His cannister has been unloaded. Empty. He lunges for
another gun from a fallen Pakistani soldier. Rudra Pratap
bends down and in one swift move takes out a knife from a
dead soldier. As Bhanja comes up Rudra Pratap comes face
to face and slits his throat. Bhanja falls.

Aslam starts the van. Zoya looks at him. He reaches for


the passenger door and opens it. Before Zoya can react
he kicks her out of the van and puts it in gear. Slams
the accelerator. Pasha turns to the approaching vehicle
and fires. The windshield shatters and the bullet pierces
Aslam in the chest. He drives the van hard into the car.
It explodes throwing back everyone.

Rudra Pratap is the first to get up. He runs towards the


explosion followed by a stunned Wali Khan and Zoya. Bodies
are littered everywhere.

Then he sees him. GOLDMAN. Struggling to get to his feet.


He jumps over the burning carcass of the limousine and
holds the gun out to Goldman once again.

Wali Khan reaches the car at the back. Gets in and tries
to start it. It sputters and then starts. Rudra Pratap
pushes Goldman to the back as Zoya gets in. Wali Khan
presses hard on the accelerator. The wheels spin on the
dirt road and the car takes off.

Pasha struggles to his feet and manages to get out of the


way as the car pummels past him. Wali Khan watches the
injured General in his rear view and shouts,

WALI KHAN
Look in his pockets...He will
have a Thuraya Satellite Phone...

Rudra Pratap takes out the phone and dials the number
that Wali Khan shouts.

ASHWINI KUMAR (V.O)


I had been waiting for a different
type of phone call...

82 INT. ASHWINI'S HOUSE - EVENING

Ashwini completes putting on his cravat for the evening


out when his mobile rings. He smiles at Sumitra as she
puts the finishing touches on her saree.

He answers the call and just hears,

(Screaming)
We got him...Goldman...We have
him sir!

Ashwini tries to look calm, but his hands begin to shake


with excitement. He casually walks out of the room and
asks,

How is not important at this point?
Where are you heading?

WALI KHAN
We are on a dirt road sir...
Somewhere outside Karachi...

ASHWINI
Ok move towards the border...Will
send you co ordinates in two
hours...Then wait for further
instructions...

He turns to find Sumitra at the door putting on her


earrings.

SUMITRA
Who was that?

ASHWINI
Just Sumer from Singapore asking
about our flight details.

SUMITRA(Adjusting his cravat)


And you said that you were sending
him co ordinates...Can you please
start speaking like a normal human
being?

He smiles. She shouts some instructions to no one in


particular and reaches the door. Opens it to find Mishra
standing outside. She looks at Ashwini.

82A EXT. ASHWINI'S HOUSE - EVENING

MISHRA
There's been another incident...

Mishra tries to control himself knowing fully well that


he is going to get nothing from the Ex - Head. Ashwini
looks blank and says,

you don't allow me to go for the

Ashwini gets into his car and leaves knowing fully well
that Mishra will not give up so easily. Sumitra holds his
hand.

He just smiles. She knows there's no point pressing any


further.

83 INT/EXT. CAR/DIRT ROAD - NIGHT

The car races down the dirt road. Wali Khan trying
desperately to figure out where they are.

GOLDMAN
You have no idea where you are
even going? Do you?

RUDRA
(Pointing the gun)
You need to keep quiet...

GOLDMAN
Let me make a phone call and I
can make sure that...

RUDRA
SHUT UP!... JUST SHUT UP!!

Goldman keeps quiet. Zoya suddenly points. Wali Khan sees


it too. Trucks on a highway. He slams the brakes and tries
to figure out how to get to the highway.

GOLDMAN
Are you the man in charge or is

They don't answer knowing fully well that he is trying to


create a wedge.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
You look like a man who can see
some reason...Who can understand
the stupidity in trying to do

Rudra pushes him down...In a flash he turns and takes the

The gun goes off. Silence! Everyone reacts. Wali Khan


looks at the gun in his hand.

It still smokes from being fired. Zoya looks in horror.


Rudra Pratap falls backwards. Blood oozing from his thigh.

84 EXT. SIRI FORT (GUNDECHA BROTHERS CONCERT) - NIGHT

The applause reverberates through the ruins of the old


fort. The Gundecha Brothers finish with a flourish.
Ashwini looks at his watch. Impatient.

Sumitra turns to talk to some other ladies. Polite


conversation about the retirement and shift to Singapore.
He casually looks around and spots at least 3 men keeping
an eye on him. The stage starts being set up for Rashid
Khan.

84A EXT. SIRI FORT - NIGHT

He excuses himself and starts to walk towards the


bathrooms. He knows that the men will be following him.
Safe distance. Standard Procedure. He enters the complex.
People acknowledge and greet him warmly. He notices one
man walk past his group and another wait at the door. He
excuses himself and walks to the bathroom.

84B INT/EXT. SIRI FORT (RESTROOM) - NIGHT

Looks for an empty urinal. The bathroom is pretty crowded.


He knows that he will be followed. His mind working
overtime. Trying to figure out a way to get rid of them.

Then he sees the cleaner and his bucket. Broom. An air


freshener. He washes his hands as he sees his follower
entering. He wipes his hands and takes out his wallet to
tip the cleaner when he drops the note. The cleaner and
he both bend down casually and he pockets the aerosol
can.

The other agent watches him exiting. He comes back out


and starts to walk to the stage. He takes off his cravat.
His lighter. Sets it slowly on fire and pushes the cravat
and the aerosol can into the dustbin. He continues walking
waiting for the mild explosion. It does not fail.

The dustbin bursts like a rocket. Given the current


atmosphere in Delhi people start to panic and just run.
The security tries to calm the situation. The agents look
for him, but he disappears in the crowd.

84C EXT. SIRI FORT - NIGHT

Sumitra is escorted with the crowd towards an exit. She


wonders where he is and takes out her mobile to call him.

A message is received.

GO TO YOUR SISTERS...I WILL EXPLAIN LATER!

85 INT/EXT. FARMHOUSE - NIGHT

BANG BANG.

2 bullets are fired. Zoya holding a gun to Goldman while


Rudra Pratap lies half conscious react inside the car.
They look towards the desolate farm house from where the
gun shots have come. Wali Khan looking extremely different
comes out of the farmhouse and opens the door of the car.

WALI KHAN
Come on...

He nudges Goldman who gets off.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


Bring him...

They enter the house to see a couple tied up in the corner.


Zoya helps Rudra Pratap to a sofa. They exchange a look
when they see the couple.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


Is he going to be all right?

ZOYA
He's lost a lot of blood...We
need to get him to a hospital...

Wali Khan does not respond. He walks to the couple.

WALI KHAN
We need a place to rest and maybe
eat...We will leave in the
morning...If you help us nothing
will happen...Do you understand?

The couple nods.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


My friend has been hurt...We need

The couple nods again.

He sits in the home of the Director General of the Border


Security Force. The man looks at him as if he is insane.

The Director pours tea.

and takes on a more formal note. He listens to Ashwini
talk from the other end.

He puts down the phone and looks at Rudra Pratap Singh.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)


There's a car outside...You and
Zoya need to be at Out Post 39 at
0600 hrs...It should be about 150
kms from here...There will be
only 2 or 3 guards as the shift
changes at the time...

RUDRA PRATAP
You actually think that you will

it and then at Goldman. He slowly picks it up.

Wali Khan breaks down hearing his son's voice. His hands
begin to tremble.

WALI KHAN
Where is your Ammi?

KABEER
She's in the other room Abba...
Some men are talking to her...Are
you coming to get us Abba?...

WALI KHAN
(Trying hard to
find the words)
Of course I am...I will meet you
soon...I promise...Now give the
phone to the man...

Kabeer hands the phone to a man. He's the same man who
was in the suit in the high powered meeting. Standing
beside him Pasha and Saleem Pathan.

WALI KHAN (CONT'D)

87B INT. NIYAAZ AHMED'S OFFICE - NIGHT

The man in the suit disconnects. Looks at Pasha and Saleem


Pathan.

(To Saleem)
There will be no blood bath...You

a fucking reaction...

88 INT/EXT. FARMHOUSE - NIGHT

Music takes over. Wali Khan lifts Goldman to his feet


all the while pointing the gun to him. Rudra Pratap watches
him take him out. He gives one last look at the two of
them and then shuts the door. Zoya runs to the door
telling him to stop. He instructs Goldman to bolt the
door knowing that it will allow him a headstart. He opens
the boot of the car and tells Goldman to get in. He shuts
the boot and starts the car. The car skids and takes off.

88A INT. FARMHOUSE - NIGHT

Rudra Pratap struggles to his feet as Zoya screams to the


couple if there is another way. They say no. Rudra Pratap
limps to the table. Picks up a chair and smashes the
window.

88B EXT. KARACHI OUTSKIRTS - NIGHT

They get in the car and pummel after Wali Khan.

The cars drive at top speed.

88C INT. CAR BOOT - NIGHT

Goldman gets pushed around inside the boot. Zoya keeps


looking at the wound in Rudra Pratap's thigh. The bleeding
starts once again because of the pressure.

89 INT. NIYAAZ AHMED'S OFFICE - NIGHT

A tray with milk and biscuits is placed before Nafisa and


Kabeer.

89A EXT. BSF BASE (CHANDIGARH) - NIGHT

Ashwini boards a helicopter at the BSF Base - Chandigarh.


His destination Rann of Kutch. It takes off as a cavalcade
of cars come flying into the base. Mishra runs out of
the cars and demands to know who was in the chopper.

He is reminded that he is on armed forces land and he has


no jurisdiction. He curses and promises consequences.

89B EXT. KARACHI BORDER AREA - DAWN

The cars scream down the highway. Wali Khan sees the first
light breaking through.

Kabeer drinks the milk as Nafisa has something to eat.

At Outpost 39 the guards leave for the change.

At Section Post 40 Pasha gets off the chopper and starts


to talk to the Section Post in charge.

Guards start to take positions. A sniper gets onto the


roof.

EXT. KARACHI BORDER - DAWN

Wali Khan drives as fast as he can.

INT. CAR BOOT - DAWN

Goldman curses under his breadth.

INT/EXT. CAR (KARACHI BORDER) - DAWN

Rudra Pratap Singh tries his best to catch up.

INT/EXT. CAR (KARACHI BORDER) - DAWN

Wali Khan sees the post in the distance. His heart starts
to race.

89F EXT. OUTPOST 40 - DAY

The sniper on the roof sees the dust rising and the car
approaching. The guards all get ready. They wait for an
order. Pasha gives it. Everything goes into high speed.

The bullet hits Wali Khan in the chest. He mutters a prayer


asking for forgiveness from his wife and son.

90A INT. WALI KHAN'S HOUSE - DAY

Seeing them laughing and playing in his house.

90B INT. NIYAAZ AHMED'S OFFICE - DAY

You see the dead bodies of Nafisa and Kabeer holding each
other lying at the Karachi base. The prayer reverberates
on the soundtrack.

90C INT/EXT. CAR (KARACHI BORDER) - DAY

He continues flooring the accelerator with every breadth.


They guards open fire. The car is riddled with bullets.
And then a rocket launcher blasts out and shatters the
car with its impact.

90D EXT. KARACHI BORDER - DAY

Pasha and the Section Commander come to the wreckage.


They open the burning car and Pasha's expression changes.
There is only one body. Wali Khan's body.

91 INT/EXT. KARACHI BORDER - DAY

Goldman curses as he gets pushed from side to side. Zoya


hears the knocking coming from the boot. She looks at
Rudra Pratap and suddenly realizes that they are not
chasing Wali Khan. She keeps looking at him.

RUDRA PRATAP (V.O.)


There were many occasions when I
felt that he had gone soft...Would
he have it in him to see this
thing through...Would he be able
to pull the trigger and put a
bullet through my thigh...

FLASH:

AD 8 EXT. DIRT ROAD - NIGHT

GOLDMAN
You don't even have to give me
the phone...Just dial this
number...Tell the person you have
me and that you want to speak to
your wife and son...It will be
done...

Rudra pushes him down.

In a flash he turns and takes the phone out of Wali Khan's


hand.

WALI KHAN
Give me the phone...

RUDRA
Don't listen to him...They are

Wali Khan acknowledges that he understands. Rudra Pratap


gives him a signal. He understands. He shoots.

The gun goes off.

As Rudra Pratap starts falling backwards,

his voice I knew that somewhere
behind the father, the husband,

91A EXT. KARACHI BORDER - DAY

Wali Khan's body is taken out of the burning car.

WALI KHAN (V.O.)

meet my family...And by getting
you and Zoya across I am finishing
what I started...

92 EXT. OUTPOST 39 - DAY

The guards see the car racing towards them. They wonder
what to do when the message comes in their wireless to
stop any vehicles approaching the border. They begin to
open fire. The car gets hit and swerves off the road.

92A INT/EXT. CAR/OUTPOST 39 - DAY

Rudra Pratap gets out and takes aim. One goes down. The
other sees the precision of the shot and gets stunned.
He gets up firing hoping that he will hit. Rudra Pratap
waits and then in a flash takes him down.

92B EXT. CAR - DAY

Zoya runs to the boot and opens it.

Goldman gets surprised to see her and then Rudra Pratap.


He realizes the game.

AD 9 EXT. INDIAN BORDER AREA - DAY

Ashwini's chopper lands on the Indian side. He is met by


a BSF jeep. They drive towards the outpost.

92C EXT. BORDER AREA - DAY

Rudra Pratap and Zoya start to walk with Goldman across.


They see the outpost and India beyond. Then they hear it.
The unmistakable sound of the Pakistani chopper with Pasha.
He sees the three of them trying to get across. They open
fire. The three of them stop with their hands in the air.
The Pakistani Chopper circles around them when suddenly a
friendly shot is fired.

The pilot and Pasha react. The Indian Chopper reminds


them that they are entering Indian Airspace. Pasha looks
from the chopper and realizes that the three have crossed.

93 EXT. INDIAN BORDER AREA - DAY

Ashwini watches the chopper leave and walks to the three


of them. He looks at Goldman and says,

ASHWINI
Welcome back...

Goldman starts to laugh. Slowly at first. Then raucously.


Ashwini, Zoya and Raudra look at him.

GOLDMAN
Welcome back! All this...You did
all this so that you could see my
face and say welcome back?...

Ashwini says nothing.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
Happy?...Satisfied?...Feel like a
hero?...
(Asking Rudra Pratap)
What about you?...
(To Zoya)
And you?...All heroes...

They keep looking at him.

GOLDMAN (CONT'D)
How does it feel?...Empty am I
right?...

They say nothing.

Zoya looks at Rudra Pratap who keeps looking at Goldman.
