Attending tuitions or coaching classes for hours alone may not help you improve your grades or boost
your confidence level. Ultimately it's your own hard work that will help you, so devote some quality time
on self study at home.

Self study is the only way to learn and revise whatever you have been taught in your class, be it a school
or a college. Students have to study on their own to supplement their class-based learning. And if you are
not aware of the best methods for self study, read on. (Also read: The Power Of Routine And How It

 1. Discussion: After reading a chapter or revising your
notes at home, you should discuss all the important
points either with your friend or sibling, so that you can
easily remember them. You can also discuss the topic
with your parents.

2. Solve practice papers : Download all previous year

questions papers in case you are preparing for boards
and solve them at home. Practicing question papers is
the best way to revise everything and evaluate your

3. Watch educational videos : There are 'n' numbers of educational videos available online. You need go
through your syllabus and search videos as per the given syllabus. For example, if you have to read about
First World War, you can search videos related to it and easily understand the topic by watching it.

4. Write whatever you have understood : The best method for self study is to finish a topic in your
book and write it down in your notebook on the basis of your understanding. This will help you easily
memorize the topic and also improves your writing speed.

5. Compare notes taken in the class with help books : The other method for self study is to compare
notes taken in the class with help books. This will help you understand if notes taken in the class are
sufficient or you have to make some addition to them. This also helps you acquire additional knowledge
about the subject.
