PATHWAYCONNECT GUIDE AND INFORMATIONAL FOR STAKE PRESIDENCIES AND

BISHOPRICS
QUICK INFORMATION AND INSERVICE RESOURCE

1. Priesthood Driven: PathwayConnect is under the direction of the First Presidency, Church
Board of Education, and President Clark G. Gilbert, President of BYU Pathway World Wide.
2. Who: Students do not need a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent to apply as long as
they are 19 years of age and a member of the church. 18 year olds can apply if they have
graduated from High School or have a GED. No ACT/SAT scores are required.
3. Interview: No Priesthood endorsement/worthiness interview is required.
4. What: PathwayConnect is an online program made up of 1 year (three semesters) where
the students earn 15 college credits that can be applied to their degree. All classes are
online with an Instructor and students have access to the Student Help Center. During each
semester students will take one academic class and one Institute class. Access to a
computer and high speed internet is of course required.
5. Tuition: The tuition fee is $69 per credit hour, and $46 a credit hour for L-Students (ESL).
6. Continued Low tuition through B.S. Degree: If a student maintains a B average through
the three semesters they can continue their educational pursuits at BYU PW at the same
tuition fee rate of $69 and $46.
7. Weekly Gathering Required: Students are required to attend a Pathway Gathering every
Thursday starting at 7:00 PM and lasting 2 hours for the 30+ age group; and 2 1/2 hours for
18-30 age group. During that time each age group will have one academic gathering and
one religious gathering. Each student will have the opportunity to be the Lead Student,
facilitator for these gatherings. A lesson plan is provided. Great opportunity for leadership
development.
8. Where: Gatherings are held at the Bear River High Seminary/Institute Building in Garland
at 1386 So Main, Garland, Utah.
9. Course Work: Course work during the 3 semesters are Life Skills; Basic writing; Intro to
Algebra. Institute for the 31+ group will consist of Book of Mormon; Jesus Christ/Gospel;
and the Eternal Family. Institute for the 18-30 will be determined by the local Institute
Instructor.
10. MISSIONARY COUPLE: A Missionary Couple is assigned to each group to shepherd,
nurture, encourage, love, and help in anyway to ensure the students success.
